Rating: Summary: The reviews I'm reading here are not the reviews... Review: You know what folks... I'm reading the reviews about this book and I have to state that most of them are just a useless and senseless trash. These are not reviews. These are only unbalanced thoughts and opinions of people who hate Islam and seek every argument they may use against it. They say that fundamentalists are true Muslims and the others are just Westernized Muslims. But every stick has two endings and it sounds so stupidly like would the saying that: the fundamentalist Christians are the true Christians and the others are just watered-down followers of Jusus' religion. I am writing it because, truly, I cannot stand people who are seeking some arguments against others without any, even basic, knowledge of the topic. There are many religons in this world. Most of people, and especially fundamentalists, do not follow the religious regulations. They follow some kind of spiritual pathology. In fact, there is no evil religion, but there are evil people. That's the point of the question. If everybody was the follower of their religion then all those priests, rabbis and imams would have been completely unnecessary. But look, they have hands full of job... God allows so many religions to co-exist in our reality because, in fact, it is the specific kind of tolerance test for us. And, unfortunately, many of us do not pass it... God bless, whatever name you call Him...
Rating: Summary: For those with eyes that see Review: This is an excellent book to better understand the source of the obvious; People dancing in joy over the death of innocent Muslims and non-Muslims by Muslims, daily explosions of people exploding themselves to kill what seems to be innocent people, the oppressive lives of Muslim women, kidnapping unarmed contractors and chopping their heads off, vast numbers of people in Afganistan with missing limbs, the starving and slavery of non-Muslim Sudanese by Muslims, the daily reports of killings by Muslims in Sudan, the Philipines, Malaysia, Iraq, Russia, Pakistan, Thialand, Israel, and on and on. The reason people buy and like this book is because it explains what anyone with eyes can see. It fits with what we see and hear - it rings true to those with eyes and ears. Those who argue against it with "scholorship" or "bigotry", etc. ring hollow to those who are daily shocked by the things Muslims are doing and no longer believe that Muslim means peace.
Rating: Summary: Quran: It's Cleansing Sword for Pagans Review: The author of ISLAM AND TERRORISM cites specific Surahs(verses) in the Quran to show how Islam really doesn't "tolerate" Jews and Christians ("People of the Book/Bible") and pagans/infidels (non-monotheists). The Quran's Surah 9:5 is pretty clear: "Fight and slay the Pagans wherever you find them...." The author explains "Naskh": why contradictions appear to exist in the Quran. Some verses tell Muslims to respect Jews and Christians (but only if they pay a tax), while others urge a Jihad against them. What this author reveals is that Muhammad received different revelations from Allah at different times as to how the Jews and Christians were to be treated. The later revelations against non-Muslims reverse the earlier toleration commandments. This is the only book that I have found that extensively cites passages from the Quran to reveal how Usama/Osama bin Ladin's gang justify their killings of non-Muslims, including innocent women and children. The author notes that the Quran is not written in a straight timeline. Its chapters are not written in chronological order, but the largest chapters are followed by ever-smaller chapters. One needs to obtain another booklet to learn how scholars believe which chapter actually was revealed before the others. This is necessary in trying to understand Allah's "last" views as revealed to Muhammad. They changed; hence, one needs to know when each chapter was written in order to understand the which were the correct "last" or "most up to date" dictims from Allah: does he tolerate Jews or not? Allah must not, as Muhammad ordered the killing of so many Jews, and ordered Jews and Christians out of Arabia. (This explains why there are no Christian churches or Jewish synagogues in Saudi Arabia. As a U.S. solider in Saudi Arabia during Gulf War I to liberate Muslim-Kuwait, we were told not to wear Christian crosses on the outside of our uniforms. Also, when you check into a Saudi hotel, the registration card asks you your religion -- but the kind proprietor told me I really didn't have to note it.) Too bad the critics of this book don't explain what specific falsehoods they find in it. I looked up all of the citations in THE NOBLE QURAN (published by the government of Saudi Arabia) and found them to be accurate. A fine campanion book from this author is: ISLAM AND THE JEWS - THE UNFINISHED BATTLE.
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: This is another good book on the real facts of Islam. Remember Militant Islamic are hiding and calling them selves Muslims. Islam is a religion based on hate. While no religion perfect, this one has been evil from its beginning.
Rating: Summary: Scary and honest Review: Islam and Terrorism is not a pretty book. It shows with honesty and research the dangers ahead of us.
Make sure that your congressman reads this book.
Rating: Summary: hypocritical Review: Let's be fair here.Doesn't the writer remember the crusades and the many Muslims which were killed? It is overlooked as a cause
for the Christians to maintain power in Europe and in Rome.
Then it's stated numerous times how the Muslims want to "take over the world" Don't the neocons and evangelicals want to take over the world?,and they do it by spreading Christian "love"
and deceit. The average Christian isn't an evangelical, nor do they have any desire to take over the world;neither does the
average Muslim. The book is meant to cause a riff between
Islam and the West.Read it with care and much thought, then
realize it's deception.I agree with another reviewer,
read the Quran, don't rely on books which are more like
online bloggs than a real foundation in research.
Rating: Summary: Sadly wrong and biased Review: It is so sad to see that people are so willing to provoke hostility among different cultures of the world. Instead of trying to find common ground to live in peace (because this is everybody's world and we have to share it), I guess they feel it is easier to label 'others' as enemy. And that wouldn't be so sad if the things the author said about Islam were true and if the readers bothered to verify what he said by looking at the real source of Islam: Quran. Because only then they could say yes this is Islamic because Quran commands that way.
For the sake of humanity and peace, if you want to know what Islam is all about, go and read Quran, but read it completely, because you can understand it only when you read it completely and absorb it, because verses complete and explain each other. When you finish reading it you will have a general opinion about Islam, from its true source.
One reviewer made a very big mistake about a verse of Quran by believing what the author said. First of all he did not quote the verse properly, it is not like that. Secondly, as I said above, to understand a verse, you have to read the verses before and after it. That interpretation is completely false. I would explain what that really meant, but I guess it would be better if you read Quran yourself, which you can find easily online for free. Quran commands Muslims to be nice to people who behave bad to them, Quran calls people to peace and never allows Muslims to force others to believe in Quran. If there are people doing the opposite, then it is obviously their own mistake.
There are certainly people who do very wrong things in the name of Islam, but it doesn't mean ISLAM COMMANDS THEM TO DO SO. As I said before, Islam means peace and calls entire humanity to peace. War is unwanted and must be the last thing to do. It strictly forbids to kill innocent people and says that if one person kills one innocent person it will be like he/she killed entire humanity. Islam forbids forcing people to believe and orders believers to treat well to all people, believer or not. Islam has been the greatest civilization until two centuries ago, in art, in science and it led the way to enlightment in Europe. These are the facts. Anybody can go and check the accuracy of these I am saying.
Muslims, Christians and Jews all believe in the same God and Muslims love all the prophets and accept their books.
ONE MORE TIME I AM ASKING: IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ISLAM, WHY DON'T YOU TRY TO FIND OUT WHAT IT IS BY LOOKING AT QURAN, INSTEAD OF GOING AND READING WHAT PEOPLE THINK IT IS? THIS IS WHAT ALL INTELLECTUAL AND OBJECTIVE PEOPLE SHOULD DO.
Rating: Summary: I AM A MUSLIM!!!! Review: I am a Muslim, and I am saddened by a person who has proclaimed to learn the Quran to astray willingly form this fruitful and peaceful religion. Christianity has claimed millions of lives in the crusades of proclaiming their religion, but yet we do not call Christians and label Christians terrorists. Islam means "to submit" to submit to one lord and please the lord through the teaching of the torah and the Ingeel (bible) and the Quran. Sadly people praise a human who Muslims revere highly as a messenger of Allah (god) above God himself. Jesus and his mother Mary eat as normal humans, God does not eat. Jesus is a prophet who conveyed the message of one God, and so did Moses and so do the other prophets and messengers. They were all after the same goal to relay the message of the oneness of God! Omar ibn Khattab (khalifa)may God be pleased with him -allowed the Jews to worship in Jerusalem, when the Roman Catholics did no for over 500 years, Islam conquered and he allowed them to worship as they pleased. I dare anyone to refute this historical event. People may wish to believe as they wish, this is in the Quran, but no one shall oppress Muslims, they have a right and duty to fight back, not attack women or children or innocent bystanders, this is wrong, but protect the dignity of their women and children who are getting raped and killed everyday. Islam is very peaceful, justice in the eyes of Allah will be taken in the day of judgment and the oppressors shall be judged.
Rating: Summary: Worth a Read Review: I am not sure how reviewer Tron Honto dated 1/31/03 can say the author has no knowledge of Islam, when the author is a former Muslim professor of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt who taught Islamic history.
I noticed a lot more recent reviewers are trashing this book as well. It is interesting to note their names. I wonder if they have a bias? I am not a Christian and couldn't care less about the author's conversion to Christianity. What is enlightening is a Muslim believer to try and explain the religious aspects of Islam. How Islam does not separate religion and politics. How supposedly, true believers of Islam must believe and practice Jihad. Bernard Lewis books on the Middle East are academically informative books of the history and religion; but they do not delve into the deeper religious aspect of what Islam says. I found the author to be credible in what he is saying based on his background. Based on other things I have read, I have no reason to doubt his words. I found the chapter dealing with the strategy of Islam into a country. How the Muslim immigrant is cooperative, helpful, and obeys the government. Once they become more financially stable, more in numbers, more mosques, they begin to exert their power and influence. They keep doing this until it becomes a conflict of cultures because of political correctness, which is not just a US problem. When you read about these stages, then compare that to what is going on in the Netherlands and France, as well many other countries, you can see this pattern and it is truly alarming. Do a google search to read what's going on in those countries.
The book is a quick read, well written, and seems to be very well documented, despite other reviewers opinions. I think you should read all of the reviews from both sides and decide if it is worth reading; especially William Garrison Jr.
Rating: Summary: 90% erroneous (or) opinion - 10% accuracy Review: The author's points of view in this book is not verily correct about Islam, although the writer is an ex-muslim christian.
If it helps, I am a born muslim (quite like the author) and raised in a muslim most populous country.
First of all, the translation of Qur'an that this book based-on are not the best translation available in English. To me, they are among the dubious or puritanical translations (see the Copyright page of this book.) Readers in English language that REALLY wants to know about Islam and its teachings, I suggest, do read "The Message of The Qur'an" translated by Muhammad Asad (available in Amazon or B&N) --it's not politicized and not written by a great person who experienced tragical things in his life. It is widely acknowledge as one of the best translation of Qur'an in English language.--
Do not read the transalation that's published by the goverment of Saudi Arabia, or any goverment, because then it would be appropriate to do a thorough background check of the purity of the translation and its meaning before we can accept it as the truthful meaning. It's similar to christians or jews who really wants to know the purity of the Holy Bible or the Torah by cross-checking the translations in English from whatever languages the Holy Bible or the Torah are written the first time during the lifetime of Jesus and Moses respectively.
The classical Arabic in the Noble Qur'an demand an excellent-level proficiency of the language, even for those who are native-speaker of Arabic needs to study further their own language. Afterward, it should be conjuncted with the life (examples) of the Prophet Muhammad's --peace be upon him-- words/messages and teachings.
Secondly, author misinterpret, or interpret, the Surah(s) for his own advantage. For example, see page 4--paragraph 4-- of this book (you can use the "search inside this book" Amazon.com's feature):
A. Regarding the alcohol rule -- the author misinterpret Qur'an Surah 47:15. The first Arabic word in this particular verse means "The description of", therefore, this verse is explaining the description of Paradise (in the Afterlife world) and comparing it with what would be served for occupants of Hell (Fire) in the eternal reality of post-Day of Judgement existence. I'll quote the translation of the mentioned verse: "The description of Paradise which have been promised (for) those (believer) who fear God is that in it are rivers of water not stagnant or stinking, rivers of milk of which the taste never changes, rivers of wine delicious for those who drink, and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure) therein for them is everykind of fruit, and forgiveness from their Lord (God.) (Are these) like those who shall dwell for ever in the Fire (hell) and be given to drink boiling water so that it cuts up their bowels?" --NONE in this verse that means explicitly or implicitly alcohol is not fobidden, which proves the Qur'an do not contradict the verses in Surah 5:90-91; Not as how the author claims. Nevertheless, the word "wine" does exist in this verse but it does not instantaneously means that alcohol is allowed.--
B. Regarding "the Christians must convert, pay tax or be killed by the sword (Surah 9:29)." The part of Surah 9:29 that the author referred to is simply means that the people of the Scripture to acknowledge to the religion of truth (i.e. Islam.) --NONE in that particular verse says that the people of Scripture must convert to Islam, or else must be punished by death. However, it does says something about to pay Jizyah if they do not acknowledge the religion of truth (to me, the meaning of to acknowledge is really not the same with to convert.) It's simply to admit, not to deny.-- Moreover, non-muslim(s) can see in, the Noble Qur'an, Surah 109:6 that it is for muslim to embrace and to say this particular verse to other religious believer: "To you (be) your religion, and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism)," which definitely highlighted the importance of religious tolerance.
Hence, this book has fundamental errors in founding most of the contents of this book according to the author's understanding of the Surah (the Quranic' verses.) Even though the author was an ex-authorative faculty member in one of the departments of a highly respected Islamic educational institution in Middle East and a native-speaker of Arabic language.
I have looked, and cross-checked, the meanings of the above Surah(s) in English translation of the Qur'an books called "Study the Noble Qur'an Word-for-Word" published by Darussalam (in 1999) in order to verify the claims that of the author's statements.
People who are curious about Islamic terrorism or issues with muslim in present days, actually can read way better accurate books such as "What's right with Islam" by Feisal Abdul Rauf (made in 2004) or watch, or buy, dvd of History Channel's documentary program (made in 2002) titled "Inside Islam." I really recommend these two items for curious westerner or non-muslim(s), and muslim(s) too. They are available from www.amazon.com, at least the book.
Certainly, the religion is not to blame for muslim(s) who do not fully adhere to Qur'an's warnings and glad-tidings in every minute of his/her life. In other words, the religion is not to be blamed as the source of a sinner's actions, whatever religion that sinner followed. Except, perhaps, satanic worshipper that adhering satanic bible.
