Summary: Great Purchase!
Review: I have never seen a better compact Bible than this one. Despite the small print, it is clear and readable; I set it side by side with six others of comparable size, and this was the only one that I could comfortably read.
The NKJV translation is superb, keeping much of the exquisite beauty of the original, but adding clarity in its use of modern day language.
Psalm 138:3
NKJV:
"In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul"
KJV:
"In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul".

The words of Jesus are in red, it includes center-column references and translation notes, a 96 page concordance, and 9 maps. The pages are edged in gold, there is a ribbon marker, and the cover is bonded leather. What I especially like is the flap, that gives me just enough room to clip a pen on the inside, and goes over the cover to snap shut, protecting the pages from damage while in my purse.
The first Bible I ever purchased was published by Nelson, and after over twenty years of use is still in one piece; this edition seems to be constructed with a similar level of quality, so I have high hopes for its durability.
I'm not a "stuff and things" person, but this little Bible is something I own that I truly delight in, definitely qualifying as a Top Ten purchase.

Summary: My Soul Winners Bible!
Review: I just bought my second bible of this type. I left my last one inside my jacket pocket back home in the states when I left for missionary service in Brazil. Due to the cost of shipping and all I chose to just purchase a second one through Amazon.com and have it shipped to me direct in the field. (Yes they will do that!!!) I call this little bible my Soul Winners Bible because it can be with me all the time and ready when I need it. At home in the states I take it to work in my shirt pocket or tuck it away inside my clipboard. It has both the Old and New Testaments so I'm not caught without the passage I'm looking for when I need to show someone a prophecy or reference from Isaiah or Proverbs etc. Just a note to those who want to Win Souls for Christ and aren't sure how to organize themselves properly...
1) Get a new clean bible like this one that hasn't been marked up with highlight pens and notes yet.
2) Get a box of colored paper clips and some colored highlight and underline pens.
3) Get several tracts at your local Christian bookstore and do some study.
4) Take the relevant verses and Highlight them and Mark the pages with the colored paper clips. I would recommend you use a system like this one: Red (Blood of Christ) = Salvation. Use Red to mark specific salvation verses from John and Romans... Black= Sin (For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God...) Blue=Water in the River of Eternal Life Use Blue to mark your eternal Life passages. Yellow= Caution U turn ahead. And Green= Grace Eph 2: 8-10
5) Study the Passages and the tracts and do some earnest Prayer for the Lord to send people whom you can minister to.
6) It is good to pass out tracts... but doing so is not a substitute for building relationships and sharing the gospel and "Giving your personal Testimony..."
7) If you don't have a personal testimony or are not sure how to talk about it... Pray about it and talk to your pastor. He will be able to give you advice on a more personal basis and help you in discipleship.

God Bless you each and all...
Until our Lord comes in the clouds and we meet Him in the air
Your Brother in Christ

Review: I purchased 2 of these Bibles for my sons. The price was great. I saved [money] on each Bible compared to the price I would have paid for the same Bibles at a book store here. It is a perfect size for little hands like kids have. I rate this #1 kjv version only.

Summary: You get what you pay for
Review: I've gone through two of these Bibles (one with a snap flap, the other without) in 6 years. They last about 3 years each. The bonded leather cover simply does not last, even under optimal conditions. It breaks down and bleeds if it gets even slightly damp, cracks after flexing repeatedly (especially the snap flap version) and generally falls apart.

This is unfortunate, because the text itself is very well done. The pages are durable, don't stick together, and clearly readable. There's a useful concordance in the back, as well as references and indexed maps.

I am aware that this Bible is available in hardcover as well, and would recommend that you buy that instead if you want this edition at all. Anything will last longer than the leather bound version.

Instead of this edition, I would recommend an alternative. The Pocket Concord Reference Bible (Cambridge University Press, only KJV as far as I know) is of massively superior workmanship. If you want a small Bible, get that one instead.

Summary: Added Bonus
Review: My beautiful wife gave me this bible for my birthday. It's the perfect size for my doctor's bag, which I take to church. The bonus is that it's "self-pronouncing." A most welcome suprise in that it's not mentioned in the description. Thanks Hon!

Summary: More Inferior Quality from Thomas Nelson
Review: The compact NKJV with Snap-Flap is a good, portable edition to carry around. However, in my opinion, Nelson Bibles are typically of very poor quality and durability---the Bibles are glue-bound instead of being sewn, and their life expectancy is limited. Again, in my opinion, snap-flap Bibles are a nuisance, with the flap hanging in your way as you handle the Bible when open. If you must have this edition, try it without the snap-flap.

Summary: Great Purchase!
Review: Wonderful little Bible with surprisingly readable text. The largest, most readable text I have seen in a Bible this size. Extremely handy Bible that you can take with you anywhere, and being the NKJV you know it is a reliable version. Great Bible both in price and print!
