Summary: A Must Read
Review: This book is one that has really challenged me to evaluate my character. I use it and recommend it often. The straight forward and thoughtful approach is affective. There is a temptation to make excuses for ourselves and others when we display character flaws. And our society winks at "whites lies" and "small sins" , but God holds us to the highest standard. Read this when you are truly ready to honest with yourself.

Summary: Who are You?
Review: This is a small little book, with some exciting ideas and propositions. Bill Hybels focuses on choosing consistency and resisting compromise.

Filled with personal stories and encouragement, of particular interest was his comment that "...hardhearted people tend to divide the world into winners and losers, heavyweights and lightweights, survivors and basket cases, and sharp and two bricks short of a load" people.

The book reads like a series of sermons, with many easy answers and solutions, some which didn't go far enough. It is light reading, though, and inspirational.

Summary: Wonderful book
Review: This is a wonderful book. For those who are fighting bad habits like procrastination, disorganization, poor time management, etc., this book is one of the best you can read. It shows how to achieve discipline, courage, endurance, and the other things which lead to a successful and contented life. It gives a strong Christian viewpoint but it does not push a political viewpoint, which is very refreshing. I would strongly recommend this book for anyone seeking to manage any aspect of his/her life more effectively.

Summary: A practical guide to growing in Christian character.
Review: We are all at our best when it counts. But what are we like when no one's looking? That's where character comes in--being consistent even when it doesn't seem to matter.

Courage. Discipline. Vision. Endurance. Love. These character qualities are quickly becoming endangered. All too often we hear of marriages falling apart, governments lying, businesses cheating and scandals rocking the church. But with God's guidance and strength, we can maintain character that lasts despite temptations and troubles.

Bill Hybels is pastor of Willow Creek Community Church, which reaches out to the unchurched in the Chicago area. Bill is chairman of the board of the Willow Creek Association and the author of a number of books, including Too Busy Not to Pray and Making Life Work.
