Summary: Carter tells it as is
Review: What I liked most was his willingness to accept the limitations of his intellect in comprehending God. He makes clear that faith is not instant and requires a life of perseverance and works. Read this if you want to get a feeling of what an 'average' man's journey through life is.

Summary: One of the most moving books I have ever read.
Review: While many people can question his performance as President, you can not question his dedication to God and his community. I have never read a book that has shown so much humility and such a level of devotion to the American way of life. Mr Carter has helped me deal with my own crisis of faith, and reassured me that there are some people in this world that are still fundamentally good

Summary: A Model of Positive Faith
Review: With the rise of the religious right, many Americans have turned away from Christianity. Nevertheless, as Carter says, "There are those who consider ministering to the poor, the despised, and the homeless as important elements of Christianity." It is this vision of positive faith that Carter exemplifies. This book is a must for any one struggling to return to the core teachings of Jesus (e.g., compassion, forgiveness) in a context of conflict, bitterness, and dogma.
