Rating: Summary: Off the Mark Review: I was unimpressed with this book. The Christian basis for this book was too much for me - a non-Christian - to bear. I think it may be more helpful for someone of the same religious background as the author. I read the reviews before I bought it...and didn't realize HOW rooted in Christianity this book is. This is a warning to all the people buying this book...if you're not a Christian...you may not find it helpful.

Rating: Summary: The way to healing Review: IN the last year I have read many books on this subject. This is the best one so far written for the wives of sexual addicts. It does not focus on HIS problem, the why's and how's of his motives and recovery. It is not written in a way that caused me to relive the pain through the stories of other women's pain. It has helped me to see a way for MY recovery from the pain his addiction has caused. To see hope and healing no matter what the outcome of the relationship. It is filled with stories of other women who had made through to the other side of this awful journey. As well as comments from the husbands that hurt them. Some remained married, some didn't, but all found healing. The strong biblical basis is exactly what I needed. It was practical, encouraging, honest, and very helpful. It will lead YOU on the road to recovery from the betrayl and suffering caused by your husbands infidelity.
Rating: Summary: Overly shaming and sexist Review: This book does have an extremely religious (Christian) tone, which is fine. It is very shaming, however, in its discussion of sexual addiction, a disease OF shame. In this sense, it works against the basis of recovering from shame-based disease. It also makes statements about how men just have higher sex drives than women and other sexist statements which are completely unproven, further making understanding of and recovery from this disease difficult. There is clear evidence that sex addiction is a disease which affects both men AND women in our country. This book seems to ignore that fact, again, making recovery and understanding of the disease difficult and confusing. I, too, returned it unfinished. There are MUCH better, more accurate, and better researched materials available on recovery from co-sex addiction, some of which even have the Christian viewpoint. You do not need to buy this book just to get the Christian viewpoint; it will only confuse you further and make your recovery difficult.
Rating: Summary: Heavy christianity focus was disappointing. Review: This book only shares the viewpoint of Christian families, a belief which I don't share to the rigid extent that it is used in this book. If your belief system is more spiritual based - not religious based, then this book is probably not for you. I didn't like the shaming way sex addiction is referred to as "sexual sin". I returned the book without finishing.
Rating: Summary: Great book for partner's of sexual addicts Review: This book was one of the few I had found that address sexual addiction from the woman's point of view. It addresses the discovery of the addiction and how to get help for yourself and for the addict. There are a lot of references in the directory and there is also a chapter on how to begin group therapy for the woman. Great book-very enlightening!
Rating: Summary: Honesty is scary Review: This book was pretty good, however, I finished reading it with a sense of that the story was left unfinished. The author provides many women's stories of how pornography effected their marriages and relationships but really doesn't do much in terms of offering suggestions on how to help your husband through the addiction and how to continue living for Christ during this trying time. Good book of truth-telling experiences, but bad when one is looking for actual help.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good in some parts Review: This book was pretty good, however, I finished reading it with a sense of that the story was left unfinished. Rating: Summary: Excellent and helpful Review: This book was very helpful to me at a difficult time in my life, when it seemed like nobody understood. In fact, at times I felt like she took thoughts right out of my mind. I feel that if you are in the position of having an unfaithful spouse, you will find that you are not alone and there is help.
Rating: Summary: Living With Your Husband's Secret Wars Review: This is not a book I gained a lot of insight from. It talks about the extreme cases. I would not recommend it. It doesn't leave you with any hope; only more sadness and brokenness.
