Summary: A woman's experience...
Review: ...In this thoughtful and heartfelt book, Joyce Landorf discussed 'living the lie', until she was old enough, and strong enough in her faith in God to expose, confront, and ultimately, to forgive.

She also discussed how to deal with the "Irregular People" in our lives -- not necessarily incest, but those who deny, avoid, ignore, or can't face their own culpability in intimate or family problems.

I think that it is a book that should be in every thoughtful aaand caring person's library.

Summary: Victim Mentality
Review: A horrible book, but it starts out wonderfully. However, Joyce doesn't understand the concept of victim mentality and the fact that she suffers from this form of delusion. A victim of abuse should NEVER return to their abuser, even though this often feels like the natural thing to do. Her advice to apologize to your abuser is so disgusting I can't even put it into words. When I think of all the battered women who might be reading her book, and apologizing to their husbands for the beatings, I almost vomit.

God has better plans for us than to keep us in a state of victimhood, which destroys out spirits and keeps us from doing God's work. God may have started the book, but Satan wrote the ending. Joyce should get down on her needs and beg for forgiveness from God.

Summary: Want to feel like you discovered fire? Buy this Book!
Review: I originally read this book when I was going through some major changes in my life--changes that certain people in my life did not understand or sympathize with. This book helped me see that 1. This particular set of people had ALWAYS reacated negatively when I was approaching change in my life (because it meant they too would have to adapt to in my life, and like most humans, they wanted things to stay the same)and 2. There were ways to deal with these people without becoming an irregular person myself, or getting slammed to the pavement yet again by them.
This book helped me see that I was not the only person dealing with negativity on a regular basis--that it was not my fault, and that there were ways to deal with these people without becoming just like them (a fate worse than death, I assure you!).Joyce Heatherly hits right on the target. (By the way, she confesses this in a later book, but the "irregular persons" in her life are her father and stepmother--people you definitely cannot cut out of your life!) No, it's not your imagination--these people in your life are hurtful and destructive--but you don't have to let them destroy you, and you don't have to destroy them to live a good life. Joyce's book will show you how.

Summary: Dont pass this one up.
Review: I read this book at least 10 years ago and it changed my life! It showed me how to better handle the difficult people in my life. You know... the one who always says something hurtful at every family gathering. Or the one who gives only backhanded compliments that feel like a knife in your gut. Well, I was able to look at them in a new light after reading Joyce's book and it made me a happier person.

Summary: An Informational Book on Coping with Difficult People.
Review: Joyce Landorf explores how those closest to you can often cause you emotional, mental, and even physical pain and how that can majorly affect your life. She offers her story, and the stories of others, as support and encouragement. This book also gives excellent insight and information on how to appropriately deal with these relationships without becoming completely lost or destroyed yourself.

Review: Joyce Landorf Heatherley has powerful books for people with interpersonal struggles that nag at you everyday. I've lost my copy of this book and am purchasing it again because it's one of the helpful books to review in crisis times. She's also a very comforting writer.
