Rating: Summary: The Calvary Road Review: It is hard to write a review of a book that changed me from the inside out. Mr. Hession identifies sin; clarifies sin and offers the only cleansing solution...Jesus' Blood shed on Calvary. You are lead along the road to sin identity, sin admission, and cleansing. Relationships and how we respond to others are given new light...Jesus' light. A superb book for any Christian who would like a closer more fulfilling relationship with Jesus and the gift He gave us...eternal life. I strongly recommend this book. Be warned, you will see sin in a different light and realize what a daily battle we all have in fighting the flesh.
Rating: Summary: The blood of Christ Review: Pastors and mature Christians have strongly recommended this book to me. They told me it has changed their lives. The principles about living in the light are really good and should be stressed in this day and age where sin is considered an outdated concept even in Christian circles. I knocked one star because even though it is only around a hundred pages, it seemed repetitious to me. The phrase "the blood of Christ" was used so much it almost became a mantra. Yes, it is the central concept of Christianity, but there is more to the Christian walk. The Church and the fellowship of believers is important as well.
It is definitely worth another read and perhaps it will grow on me. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I recommend the book, but the book did not "impact" me as much as I thought it should.
Rating: Summary: A must read book for a victorious Christian walk. Review: Reading this book was like the getting to know the Lord over again. To be made aware of how far my path has wondered from His.Refreshing to see how easy, but painful, to get back on the path, and what is required to stay their.I use to think brokeness was something to be feared. But, Oh,what freedom it can offer. The book reveals living the independent life, from God,is not freedom, but bondage. This needs to be read and re-read,it has a way of bringing the Word's basic truth's to applicable living. An other book similar to this is "A Chritianity That Really Works". By Ron Marr
Rating: Summary: A lot of great stuff in a tiny little book Review: The Calvary Road is a small book, barely 100 pages. It has so much quality revelation in it, that it has better content than most 200-300 page books.Roy Hession really wrote a timeless classic when he authored this book. I have never read a better description of the need to walk in the light. Hession describes why it is important for Christians to walk in openness, brokenness, and transparency. I was continually amazed at how Hession was able to communicate such vital and important messages in so few words and sentences. As I was reading this book I could sense the light in my head turning on and realizing how this book was talking about my life. This is one of the books that really has to become foundational in a Christian's library. Some books are called, "Essential" to the Christian faith. This book belongs under that title. This book can be read in one sitting, easily. It's the kind of title that you want to review at least once per year. Never before have I seen a book like this. The major theme to this book is the concept of walking in the light. This is an issue that hasn't gotten enough attention in the Christian world. This message can't be ignored by any Christian. Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc. this book applies to you. Many Christian churches do things very differently, but this principle of walking in the light can't be ignored by any of us. And because of a user friendly book like this, ignorance isn't an excuse for any of us. I highly recommend this book to ALL Christians. Roy Hession has produced such a great title that all Christians should read it at least once.
Rating: Summary: PREPARE TO BE BROKEN... Review: There is no room for the stiff necked and proud at the foot of the cross. This book reinforces that those that are readied to serve are those that have bent the straight and stiff "I" into a bowed head and a humble heart. If you believe that you've arrived in your Christian walk...if you believe that you're "Good Enough", take the time to reach these few powerful pages and realize that the only good in us is Christ. And when you realize this...you're read for Christ to use you.

Rating: Summary: Challenging . . . Convicting . . . Livable! Review: This book is as important now as it was 50 years ago. The author outlines personal revival plainly, stressing that an intimate walk with God can be a daily reality. I found his discussion of "walking in the light" to be particularly helpful. Great reading for new believers or seasoned Christians who've gotten stale. Well worth reading.

Rating: Summary: Where is the scripture? Review: This book is based mostly on personal experiences and vague ideas that the author seems to construct from "ideas" from the Bible. Scant scripture references. The terms he uses like "revival" (even though he tries his best to define what he means and "fill" are very vague. His references to "peace of Christ" are wrong and misguided. I am a Bible-believing Christian who loves the Lord, but seriously thinks that this is pointing believers in the wrong way. This is "God helps those who help themselves" book in disguise-- even if Roy says that it is not about self.
