Rating: Summary: Horrible, biased interpretation. Review: This is protestant bashing propaganda. Reading this book was a waste of time.
Rating: Summary: historical revisionism - typical. Review: This oversized pamphlet is as scholarly as a Jack Chick tract. The author is either quite naive or expects his readers to be thoroughly ignorant of ecclesiastical/textual history. If I were Roman Catholic, I would be greatly embarrased by this sophmoric approach - although no doubt it will appeal to the teenage level.
Rating: Summary: ALL BIBLE-READERS SHOULD STUDY THIS FANTASTIC BOOK Review: Too often have readers of the Bible come to take the Bible for granted, on blind faith that the Good Book is the "inspired word of God".By reading true Bible history as to how our modern day Bible came to us,we can better appreciate its value. Hendry Graham in his book "Where We Got the Bible From" does just that: dispeling entrenched notions of false translations that come to be extolled as "God's Holy Word" today, and showing us the light,in historical contexts using both both learned Catholic and esp. Protestant sources,to show the Bible's true origins as the insipired Word of God. A truly exciting read, besides Partick O'Hare's "The Facts About Luther"[TAN BOOKS,Rockford, Illinois]. Go for it!!!
Rating: Summary: a must read for all Christians Review: While I would be biased, given that I am Catholic, I nonetheless recommend this book to all Christians, especially Catholics (and Eastern Rite Orthodox Catholics), who should know the Bible, but also those non-Catholic Christians who are open-minded enough to ask themselves these questions: given that I entrust so much to the Bible, as the written Word of God, how much do I know about the origins of the Bible? Shouldn't I know everything about its origins, if I am to defend my faith in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, *as he is taught to me* in the Bible? If the Bible was not widely available in print form until about 500 years ago, how did God reach out to humanity? How do I defend my faith against those who, through dubious scholarship, either add to the Bible or remove parts of it to suit their dubious doctrines? I repeat: this book is a must-read.
