Summary: Getting excited about Christ
Review: I recommend Dangerous Wonder to anyone who is ministry, no matter where you are in your journey. We all need to be able to reclaim the innocent and wide-eyed excitement about Christ daily. Mike's book does this for me.

My ideal three pack for ministry would include (in order to be read) 1) Dangerous Wonder, 2) The God-Bearing Life, Kenda Creasy-Dean and 3) Purpose Driven Youth Ministry, Doug Fields or Purpose Driven Church, Rick Warren

Summary: READ THIS BOOK IF YOU WANT YOUR LIFE CHANGED.
Review: I've been a Christian for a number of years now, and I've read a good number of books, but I'd say that this book has had the largest effect on my life. I was both angered and inspired: angered at the dullness that had overtaken my faith in Jesus, and inspired to make some drastic changes in the way I live. This book made me realize that I've been "doing" Christianity instead of truly "living" it. I guarantee that if you read this book with an open mind and heart, Jesus WILL change you through it. God Bless!

Summary: A Romp in the Romper Room wonder.
Review: I've tried to figure out this book, because after I read it, I didn't have the same reactions as some others. While its true that Yaconelli focuses on "child-like" faith, it's not true that this book will "free" anyone so that they can get away from all the trappings. And the statement that "you're dead if this book doesn't do anything for you" is patently false. I'm very much alive, spiritually. He's just expressing a point of view.

Those who like the watered down, enjoy life to the fullest, feel good about yourself theology, well...they'll like this. It's a romp in the romper room and nothing more.

Summary: Inspired...
Review: if you're longing to skip down the halls of the sanctuary that is your heart...

if you're looking for recess for the soul...

if you've kept the faith but lost the passion...

this is the book for you! it will make you laugh. it will make you cry. you will close the book with a new outlook on Jesus and a clearer picture of faith...

a must read!

Summary: Like Dangerous Wonder Bread
Review: Like DangerousWonderBread....light, fluffy, and white, but with little nutritional value.
I read this book in one sitting, not because it was so good, but because it was written at about a fourth grade level and that's all the time it took. Perhaps that is the author's way of getting us to be "childlike" again. I found the book to be overly simple, and the author's constant quest to justify the "glass half full" part of faith is in annoying contrast to the negative, poorly chosen words he uses to try to "challenge" our thoughts. He asserts that Christ puts our life in "ruins," that God is "irresponsible" to love us, etc. His semantics are that of a fourth grader. Nice to read as a magazine article maybe, but not worthy of the expense of a book.

I gave it an extra star, though, because it appears that there is some value for people who are fearful of delving too much into deeper faith, and want to keep their faith simple without thinking about it too much, like a child.

Summary: Absolutely fun and delightful!
Review: Mike Yaconelli is onto something here. We've forgoten how to have fun, and Mike opens the door to great fun and reckless abandon - with a responsible and community based approach. Now is the time to get into adventure with each other.

Summary: A must for those of us "tamed" into a dull life of faith
Review: Mike Yaconelli reached in and got my attention. I took a couple of hours and read this straight through. I couldn't put it down. On the flyleaf he says he hopes the reader will hear the whisper of Jesus. Indeed, I did. It was a whisper I had not heard in a while. It reminded me of God's playfullness, spontenaity, and power. It chastised me for putting limits on his love -not only of other people- but of me. I will be "digesting" its' contents for months. Thanks Mike!

Summary: This is a good one
Review: Probley the best book I have ever read as a high schooler. This book totally challanges you and inspirers you to have that "childlike" faith we all need. I just couldnt put it down, read in one day. Dont read unless your willing to change.

Summary: Of such is the kingdom of heaven
Review: So often the Christian path leads to a focus on a legalistic, sufering focused march. Here, Mike Yaconelli reminds us that Jesus was serious when he told us to be like the little children. Mike reaquaints us with a Savior who wants our "joy to be full" and our lives to filled with the Spirit. If you're discouraged about your faith, or if you've been put off by church in the past, or if you are a happy Christian that just wants to be reminded of the Joy of His pressence, then "Dangerous Wonder" is for you.

Summary: This book is wonderful and dangerous as it claims
Review: There are so many boring Christian books. Thier contents are almost interchangable. This book is FRESH. You will read something that is a little different but you will surely not be bored. The author writes with passion and humor and has a keen eye for the nuances of God's presence in this world.
