Summary: The clue to the prophetic puzzle.
Review: Despite the outright biases declared against this book, truth is, the Roman church still seem to fit the sterotype of a prostituted Christian church that St. Paul describes as 'Apostate'. Any doctrine that is not supported by the bible whether by Catholics or Protestants alike are plain and simple apostasy. The only way out of apostacy is for the Roman Catholic church to abandon its pagan traditions, focus on Christ alone, repent and go back to the bible as the sole authority in Christian faith, obey God rather than man. Otherwise, true Christian believers from the Catholic fold should leave this religious system and heed Apocalypse chapter 18, God's call 'Come out of her My people'. Many of the Catholics are true Christians in faith. Please understand that this statement is a call for the Roman church to reform and not against the individual Catholic faithfuls. We are individually accountable to God, and not by our religious affiliation.

Summary: Extensively well researched, analytical presentation
Review: I was greatly impressed by the clarity of the author's presentation of a wealth of information regarding Catholicism's history and teachings. Wide variety use of original source material, in a highly professional manner. May go over the heads of some, with some complex sentence structure formations and debate progressions, but MUST be regarded as a highly polished work in content. The generation of hate/love reviews clearly speaks to the controversial topic....not a fault in the author's presentation. As a self-considered "impartial" audience, I HIGHLY recommend this work WITHOUT RESERVATION.

Summary: Bigoted and Ignorant
Review: This book is merely a laughable example to discredit one of the most positive religions on the planet. Even most Protestants do not believe the filth that this man writes. One person wrote that the Catholic Church is wrong because of its man made hierarchy, which was not man made. The Protestant religions were. Skip it unless you want to be poisoned with hatred

Summary: IS THERE ANY STAR LOWER THAN 1???
Review: If you (the reader) are looking for a hate filled book filled with inaccuracies and down right lies, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! But for the sincere seeker of truth, I would highly discourage such a book as this. This book would insult the intelligence of any self respecting person with even a hint of knowledge on what the Catholic Church teaches. But once again, if you are out to fill your mind with hate, lies and all the other things that Dave Hunt, being the fine Christian he is, speaks out of Christian love, than this is YOUR book!

Summary: AWFUL!
Review: I couldn't even get through the first few chapters of this book without breaking up laughing. I am a Catholic convert from fundamentalism, and I say whith all my heart that the information in this book IS biased (contrary to the review below). Now, although many of Hunt's sources come exclusively from Catholic authorities, more often than not, their words have been taken entirely out of context. What Hunt has really done is made a total fool out of himself. There needs to be a major clarification regarding the mystery of "Babylon the Great" as mentioned in Sacred Scripture. Try reading "America, The Babylon" by R.A. Coombes for starters. In closing, I would have to say that this book belongs on the fiction shelf-especially if you're a fan of "New World Order" conspiracies. Save this one for a rainy day.

Summary: Thoroughly researched, very factual and unbiased.
Review: This book IS history of the papacy and the Roman Catholic Church. To label Dave Hunt other than a dedicated researcher is to exhibit a personal bias and lack of understanding. This book is not so much about religion as it is truth. I was once a Catholic but now I have put all of my trust, hope and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ - of the Bible, not the Catholic Church or its' man-made hierarchy. There is a difference!

Summary: This book is right on time!
Review: This book is a must read! Being an ex-Catholic, I knew the church was misleading many, but I was unaware how bad it really was. Thank you Dave for your insight. The bottom line is you can only get to heaven by putting your trust and faith in Jesus. There is no other way! (John 3:16)

Summary: dishonesty at its worst
Review: Hunt's book is filled with errors and lies. Here's a couple examples of Hunt's dishonesty: 1) on page 339 Hunt quotes THE CONVERT'S CATECHISM and twists the meaning of the quote. What is most disturbing, however, is the fact that the quote listed by Hunt is actually two short statements shown in inverse order which originally appear in the catechism separated by more than 30 pages! In other words, when Hunt does not find something in Catholic theology that agrees with his prejudices he merely invents citations. 2) on page 114 Hunt discusses Cum inter nonnullos -- a papal bull issued in 1323. Here he intimates -- strongly -- that the Pope John XXII taught (through the bull) that Christ and the Apostles were men of great wealth! This is absolute hogwash. The bull says nothing of the kind and anyone can look it up in Denzinger if they wish. These are only two "errors" out of hundreds but they stay fresh in mind because I am a church historian. I pity the poor man who tries to refute this book. Not because it can't be done, but because there is simply an endless amount of garbage to refute. I really pity the poor man who believes this book.

Summary: A fascinating and interesting book, with ample references
Review: This is one of Dave's most interesting books. I do not believe in prophecy, and I have read Ken Wilber and Alan Watts. This is a fascinating expose of the Catholic Church, especially if you have never read about the differences between Catholocism and Protestantism. I recommend Hunt as the voice of scholarly American fundamentalist Protestantism. He is a careful and consistent fundamentalist; he is not vague. This is a great introduction to Catholic history and doctrine and shows what a tremendous step forward Luther brought, though Protestantism still retains a lot of the Catholic reading of the Bible, such as Jesus' death on the cross (see the book The Jesus Conspiracy), resurrection, sin, hell, and (in practice) salvation through acts. If you want to learn about the Catholic Church, read this book.

Summary: Hunt is a nut
Review: The man is very hatefull. I think its because he is not Catholic. May God have pitty on him
