Summary: An inspirational compendium of martyrs past and present
Review: Jesus Freaks is a collection of scores of accounts of martyrs around the world, from the first martyr (St. Stephen) to modern martyrs in places like the Sudan, Indonesia and Iran. Readers familiar with John Foxe's Book of Martyrs will recognize a lot of his material has been incorporated into this book, but there is enough new material to make this a valuable addition to the library.Jesus Freaks was written with Richard Wurmbrand's Voice of the Martyrs organization. Dr. Wurmbrand is one of those faithful Christian leaders who suffered many years in Communist prisons, viciously tortured for their faith. (He testified before U.S. Congress after his release was ultimately secured, stripping to the waist to reveal his torture wounds.) Their stories are moving ones. This makes me better appreciate the risks of sharing our faith and love in Christ as I get to know Christians in other countries, and see persecution intensify in lands considered historically "Christian."

Review: I picked up this book, and from the moment I began to read it, I felt the Spirit urging me. I simply can't put it down! These stories are so moving... The persecution and hardship that the martyrs face is so horrid, and yet so wonderful because it is for His glory. Their stories will inspire you to endure our petty American "persecution" with more perseverence than ever before. It's almost creepy what you feel - - reading these accounts, but the way it will enlighten you is priceless. It's worth a thousand times its price. By all means, buy it, and God bless.

Summary: from a christian teenager point of view
Review: I am christian teenager growing up in a world where computers, money, and material things make you a great person. Reading Jesus Freaks has helped my Christian youth group come together and over come the human struggle to be the 21st centuries view of "great." We read together and share in the views of Steven, Paul, and other teens as they are martyred for Christ. I recommend this book for anyone who is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice just as Jesus did for us because we never know when it may be our turn to say " I believe."

Summary: What a powerful book and a powerful message
Review: This book like no other made me take an inventory of my spiritual life. It made me ask questions I'd never thought to ask of myself. What if it was me looking down the barrel of a gun? What if it was me that was being chased by those who want me to deny my Savior? What would I do? Would I have the faith to stand up for what I believe in? I currently use this book often in my youth ministry with wonderful results.

Summary: I LOVE this book!
Review: If you want to read something that will strengthen your faith in Jesus, look no further. This book has many amazing stories of people who were willing to die rather than deny their faith in Jesus. As you read, ask yourself the question "Would I die for Jesus?" Also, this book can be a spectacular witnessing tool to any unsaved friends you may have (and you probably do have some...) This book is heavy reading...so definitely do not read it when you're in the mood for a good laugh...

Summary: Inspirational! Confirms your faith!
Review: I just got back from a missions trip with Teen Mania Ministries and I had seen this book in a girl's backback, so when I saw it in Wal Mart, I decided to take a look. I thought it was a book about d.c. talk and their songs, but after looking closer, I saw that it was produced by Voice of the Martyrs, a Christian organization that monitors the treatment and persecution of Christian missionaries around the world. I'd heard their updates on Christian radio. We never read these stories in newspapers or see them on TV, but THEY MUST BE TOLD! This book compiles these such stories. These stories tell of our Christian brothers and sister that answered the call, and even when facing death, they still called on Jesus, and never denied HIM! I want to go on more missions trips. Not just because of this book, but because God gave me His heart when I stepped out in faith and WENT. I said "Here I am! Lord, send me!" It wasn't on my own ability or love or words that I did anything. He did it through me. He wants to use YOU! He is always there! He is bigger than any problem you face! He paid the price for you on the cross and even if He doesn't do another thing for me personally, He has done enough to make me want to follow Him all of my days! The cause of Christ is worth living and dying for! Let this book break your heart and let God give you His heart!
