Summary: Must read for today
Review: I bought this book as a Christmas present, but started readingit myself and was hooked from the very first story. Jesus Freaks isabout just that... Jesus freaks. People that paid the ultimate price for their faith from the days of the disciples to stories from 1999. You read that right, 1999, it's still happening! In 1998 over 156,000 Christians were persecuted for their faith from beatings to death sentences. And by doing searches on the Net, some of the names are from today's headlines. This isn't just for youth as some may think since it's written by DC Talk, it's message is for young and old alike!

Summary: jesus freaks
Review: This is an amazing book on faith and being true to the Word of Jesus. It is amazing to read how people throughout history have willingly suffered and even died because of their faith and steadfastness to the Word. I have been unable to put the book down since I started it. Although it was written with teens in mind, I am really enjoying it and will pass it along to my friends. By the way, I am 47 years old. I pray I can be a witness worthy of God's unchanging love.

Summary: Good, but . . . .
Review: I am enjoying this compilation of martyr stories, and appreciate the way ancient and modern stories are in juxtaposition. The major problem I have with it is that the writers were careless about dates. Here's a for-instance: on page 177, John Bradford is represented as coming afoul of Bloody Mary's religion laws in 1535. But in 1535, Henry VIII was still alive and kicking as the English king. Mary did not come to the throne until 1553, and her bloody tyranny did not begin until 1555. So which was it for Bradford, Henry VIII's persecution of dissenters, or Mary's? There are several other instances of this. On page 96, in the account of the Thundering Legion, official persecution of the Christian legionaires is placed at the year 320. Nonsense. Constantine reigned from 306 to 337, and in the year 313 issued, together with Licentius, the Edict of Milan, extending complete toleration to Christians throughout the Empire. His son, Contantine II, continued the policy. It was not until the advent of Julian that Christianity's status was challenged. In 320, Christianity was the legal religion of the Empire -- how could such persecutions and executions be done without severe reprisals to the persecutors? Constantine did not accept baptism until his deathbed, but he still considered himself a Christian. No one would have been allowed to kill soldiers for their faith in the year 320. I am not questioning the legend; only the dates. But if any reader, especially a skeptic, were to notice these errors, he/she would be inclined to doubt the veracity of the rest of the stories, and thus to miss the message and the point entirely. A little knowledge of history, along with a stronger bent toward accuracy, could have spared this book this flaw.

Summary: A true Inspiration
Review: This book is probably the best book I've read since the Bible. It is a true inspiration to anyone with enough guts to read it. It challenges your faith and your love for Christ. It leaves you asking yourself if your worthy to journey down the narrow road of this Christian walk. I truly enjoyed this book, each individual's story will touch in a unique way. If you have the courage to read it you will never be the same.

Summary: Do you really serve Jesus with 'all' that is within you?
Review: If you consider yourself a Christian who is serving Jesus, I challenge you to read this book and examine your heart. What does it mean to serve Jesus? What does it mean 'to be like Christ'? How do you 'love your enemy'? Are you willing to 'take up your cross' and follow Him - even if it means laying down your own desires and agenda? If you 'really' want to serve the Lord, Jesus Freaks will cause you to take a good look at your relationship (or lack of) with Him. 'For to me, to live is Christ, to die is gain'. Phil 1:21 NKJ Find out what it could mean to 'sacrifice'. Are you willing to do what it takes, even to die for Him? Do you 'really' love Jesus? This book will challenge your definition of 'committment'. You will never be the same again. We must all choose who we will serve.

Summary: This book is awesome and is not just for teenagers !
Review: This book is awesome. Everyone should read it. Those that are searching and those that have deep faith. I do believe that it is great for teenagers (My 13 year old son will get a copy for Christmas) but I also thoroughly enjoyed it and believe me, my teenage years are far behind me. Everyone will enjoy this! The stories are short but thought provoking. They help you to realize what others have gone through in order to spread the word of God.

We are so blessed!

Buy it, enjoy it, absorb it, live it!

Summary: This book is excellent!
Review: Jesus Freaks is one of the greatest books I've read. It moved me to tears. It is easily readable, not hard, and the stories are done very well. Each story was short, but not too short. I tried to read it slowly, to absorb it, but I could not! It was so good I could not put it down. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially those who need encouragement to follow Christ.

Summary: You want a thrill? Check this out.
Review: I have only skimmed this book but I plan on buying it very soon. Although I am only a teenager, I realize that these people's walk with God was strong enough to trust Him so much that they'd give up their lives for Him. It got me thinking that if the Lord were to come back today as He promised in the Bible, or someone held a gun to my head and asked me whether or not I believed in God, would my belief in God be strong enough to know I'd end up in Heaven? Or would I lie about the truth and what I really thought to "save" my life?
