Summary: Not as great as I thought it would be
Review: I love Tim Lahaye and have read all of the Left Behind series, so I was very excited to read this book. But for some reason it didn't help me as much as I thought it would. I found it slightly confusing because Lahaye presents about 5 diffrent ways to study the Bible, but the chapter on tools for study where he included his recomendations was helpful. I have recently ordered "How to Study the Bible" by Kay Arthur and hope that it will give me a little more direction and explanation. I hope that this review helped.

Summary: With this book, read your Bible everyday!
Review: I'm not a Bible specialist, just an ordinary fool who loves and servesthe Lord. I only want to be found doing His service when He comesagain. This book, written by a blessed man indeed, will prevent myignorance from being a stumbling block. Tim Lahaye is able to make youfeel like you are part of the scriptural drama as you surely are, ifyou truly believe. Praise be to God, and blessed be Tim Lahaye!

Summary: Great intro to self-study of the Bible
Review: I've participated in Bible studies. I've led Bible studies. I really enjoy Bible studies. But, until I read this book, I had a difficult time being able to engage in personal study without some sort of guide.

LaHaye provides great advice and instruction on how to gain a better understanding of God's word through self-directed Bible study. Studying the Bible involves more than just reading a few passages now and then and LaHaye shows you how you can carefully and methodically engage yourself in an enjoyable and enriching study of the Bible.

When I lead Bible studies, I often suggest others in the class use techniques described in this book to gain further understanding in their at-home studies.

Great book. Highly recommended.

Summary: Great for Beginners
Review: Let me preface this review by first saying I have not read any other books on studying the Bible. At any rate, as a beginning Christian very eager to get into the word of God, I found LaHaye's method very helpful and I highly recommend it. I started reading the Bible numerous times in the past by beginning with Genesis and I only ever made it as far as Exodus. Using LaHaye's method of starting in the New Testament, I easily found teachings that applied to my life and had no trouble sticking with the daily routine. I'm not sold on the number of times he recommends that you read a given book. After reading I John 4 times I found that I'd inadvertently started to memorize passages. Reading it 7 times would have been a total overkill. Also, LaHaye makes many suggestions regarding further readings and tools to assist in your study with the Bible. I would just recommend that you peruse the book or guide before purchasing it. In some cases I found that books/guides written by other authors suited me better.

Summary: Like drinking wood alcohol for your warm feeling
Review: My recommendation would be to read the Bible and leave Tim Lahaye alone.
If you like, put a picture of Jesus, color and ethnicity your choice, on the wall. Feel good. Get Tim Lahaye's diabolical nonsense out of your life. Think about the friends you have, not the enemies. This man specializes in pointing fingers at people, known to God, but poorly understood by Tim Lahaye.

Summary: VERY, VERY, HELPFUL!!!
Review: Prayer is essential! There is no doubt about it. But note the title of this book. This book focuses on ONE thing: Bible STUDY. The bible says, "Study to show thyself approved, a workman unto God that needeth not to be ashamed. Rightly dividing the word of truth." This book is an awesome tool. It will help you not only get started, but will guide you to get deep into the Word of God!
It really motivated me to want to dig deeper in to God's word. This book will show you first of all What bible study will do in your life!!!
If your looking for an "EASY" way, it doen't exists. It will still take Work, and Discipline if you truly want to be a Disciple, and Tim Lahaye says this in this book. This book is just a tool to help you on your way. Get it, and Get going!!!
God bless everyone!!

Summary: A great way to get the most out of the Bible.
Review: The title of this book caught my eye. As a recently returned Christian, I was looking for a plan to get in the habit of reading the bible, and this book turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. This book provides a plan for the average reader to read through the entire bible in 3 years, without getting bogged down in the heavy stuff first. I now find it a joy to read scripture daily, instead of the task it used to be. He also includes worksheets the reader can use to keep a spiritual journal, as well as for several different ways to study elements of the bible. I have found these to be very effective in helping me to make the most of my devotional time, and bring me to a better understanding of what I have read, with better retention. I would recommend this book to the newest Christians as well as those who are more spiritually mature. There truly is something for everyone here.
