Summary: Well-intentioned, but lot of proof-texting
Review: I have read the workbook and the paperback versions of the book. I have no doubts about the answered prayers in the book, nor of his statements that we first need our relationship right with God and become more sensitive to his work around us. However, the more I reviewed his quotes from the Bible, the more concerned I got with his proof-texting (taking Bible verses out of context). Examples include John 14:6 (p.33 of paperback book) and John 5: 17, 19-20 (p. 65 of paperback book)--please read these in the context of the quotes. I also got uneasy with him saying as well that if you don't hear his voice that your relationship with God is in trouble. We've had enough trouble in Christianity with "If you feel it, it must be right" arguments, mixing secular philosophy in. Again, I'm not saying that God didn't answer the prayers stated, but just because he can give those examples doesn't mean he can claim authority on the principles he tries to put forth. Prayers can be answered despite ourselves, and no person is perfect with the Bible--that's why we have discussions like this to correct one another. After I had my doubts, I looked for reviews of the book on the internet. Although I'll let you vouch for their authority (i.e., please prayerfully test them, for I don't agree with everything there as well), they raised more questions than I had. Yyou can find them in discussion groups (like R. C. Sproul's website) and by people like Gregory Koukl and Gene Ford that seem well thought out (although not perfect). One book I highly recommend (again not perfect, but much more solid) is "Knowing God's Will" by M. Blaine Smith, from Intervarsity Press, 1991, and Amazon.com sells this, too. I think he backs himself up a lot better with the Bible than Mr. Blackaby. I can empathize with the desire to "hear" God and make our relationships with God (Jesus, Father, Holy Spirit) that much closer and "tangible." That's one reason I picked up the book on recommendations from others, given the difficulties we have with decisions without clear-cut answers. However, that can't allow us license to have the Bible say what we want as warned in 2 Timothy 4. Please be careful.

Summary: A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE
Review: This study has truly changed my prayer life!!! I cannot explain it amy other way. I think what I like the best is that its not mans opinoins or theories its straight from the Word of God. I recommend this study to all who wish to draw closer to the Lord and to truly examine thier heart before a Holy God and to those who are ready to stop giving lip service to the Master and are really truly ready to live in obedience to Him!

Summary: THE CHEESY COVER SAYS IT ALL
Review: I was very disappointed by this book. I had expected a deep and insightful book about EXPERIENCING GOD like the title promises and only found patronizing clichés and pseudo-Christian fluff. The book presumes that what the author is telling you is supposedly the biggest deepest insight imaginable, but is just turns out to be really basic common Christian teaching that you already know. I'm sorry to sound so negative, but I think that we need to have the integrity to not just accept fluff as being deep. I think there are definitely amazing life shaking insights to be learned about experiencing God in a relationship, but unfortunately not in this very overrated book. And could the cover be any more tasteless? Save your money here and read "The Christian Secret to a Happy Life" by Hannah Whitall Smith, or "Abide in Christ" by Andrew Murray instead.

Summary: Absolutely on the mark. A God centered book.
Review: It is incredibly well written. It is scriptural and certainly a life changing book for those who will apply these truths to their daily lives. It will keep one in the Word and continually checking ourselves for what if right in the sight of God.

Read it and come to know what a Godly walk can be and what it can do for your life by being obedient to God.

Summary: phenomenal
Review: Plunges the seeker into the very Throne Room of God, to practice listening for the very voice of God. A fantastic study of how God has spoken in the past, and how he wants to speak to you today.

Summary: A Great Book for developing a relationship with God
Review: This book was an excellent book and helped me to deepen my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Based on the Bible it shows how we can learn to get to know Him in a more intimate, personal way. Another book along the same lines, which will guarantee a intimate personal relationship with God, and a book that's inspirational and has helped me so much, and I highly recommend is Dietmar Scherf's "I Love Me: Avoiding & Overcoming Depression"--also available at Amazon.com and a Must for every Christian.

Summary: Something everyone should use
Review: I have used this workbook twice, once with the youth staff at my church, and once with a high school guys' small group. I am convinced it is the best study book I have ever used. This book will transform how you view your relationship with God and bring you closer to Him.

Summary: Stronger and more joyous faith through Experiencing God
Review: Experiencing God really deepened and strengthened my faith and my joy for everyday life. The passages and exercises provided allow for individual interpretation and thought, but also guide you in prayer and help you look for God in the everyday world. I did this workbook with a small Bible study group at my college and we were all transformed and amazed by the experience! Truly an amazing book!

Summary: A Practical Study to Draw Us into God's Will and Ways.
Review: This study is a wonderful way to draw us into a close relationship with Christ and understand what He wants from us. Many people are not aware that there are also Teen Edition and Junior (5th/6th grade)Edition Leader/Student Workbooks for this study. I've used the Junior Edition twice with my Sunday School class centering around "traveling" to the 7 stops in the book. It encourages going from "going to church is something our family does" to "developing a personal relationship with Christ is important to me."

Summary: How God works and how we can participate with Him
Review: This is a great book for those who are unfamiliar with God or those who have known Him for a long time. It opened my eyes to how God works in our world and how He wants me to participate with Him in His work. This study changed the way I relate with God.

There is also a youth edition which is great with teens and their leaders.
