Summary: This book saved my marriage
Review: Several years ago when my husband said that he wanted a divorce, this book and another book by Wheat, "Love Life" fell into my hands. Reading this book changed my life and my marriage was saved. We are living a happily-ever-after story thanks to God and this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Smart, calming,effective..
Review: The best help I had during difficult times. Because it was easy to read, I read it each day. It guides you through a constructive way of reacting to the serious, sad problems of a very troubled marriage and provided comfort at the same time.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Not possible
Review: There is no such thing as saving your marriage ALONE. A marriage takes three, husband, wife, and God. If any one of those is missing, you cannot succeed.

Summary: loose with the truth
Review: There was enough truth sprinkled throughout to fool an incautious reader... say, a reader currently dealing with a spouse seeking a divorce. I happened to read it at the behest of a loved one in such a situation so I could understand what they were trying to do in the relationship and therefore approached the book's material from a different vantage point. The book borders on being cultic. How are you to respond to people, even loved ones, who would advice you to pursue a course of action different than the one outlined in the book? Cut them off, of course (at the very time their love is needed most). The Bible teaches that where there are many counselors, there is wisdom, but this book teaches 'the truth' and then commands the reader to cut off all who would disagree. As another reviewer has already pointed out, the book's simplistic approach fails to account for the complexity of some abusive situations, not to mention the Bible's rather straight-forward teaching on divorce. Reading the book was distressing, but seeing a loved one follow through on its every jot and tittle no matter how contrary to scripture the approach happened to be was utterly devastating.

Summary: Some good stuff, but too much burden on the faithful spouse
Review: This book has some helpful points, but there are many others that incorporate the concept of "boundaries" and "Tough Love". (Townsend and Cloud, James Dobson, Willard Harley). I think if you just follow Dr. Wheat's advice, you will become a perpetual doormat. This isn't what God intended. The Proverbs woman was not a wimp, and we are not called to lay down on our backs and wait to be stepped on. Love Must Be Tough is better.

Summary: Great excerpt of "Love life for Married Couples"
Review: This book is two chapters from his other book "Love life for Married Couples." It was a great motivation to hang in there when things get tough. I bought the other book, too, and it is excellent. I was ready to give up, but I was motivated by reading to hang in there. It doesn't suggest being trampled on forever. But, by showing patience and kindness, you can open the spirit of your mate who wants to leave. Then, you can work out your problems once you can get your mate to WANT to work things out. This is a good start for people who feel that there is no hope and that trying to save their marriage is a lost cause. A better title would be "How to begin the process of saving your marriage alone and pursuade your mate to join you"

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Hope for any Christian suffering a mate who wants out.
Review: This book really gives hope to any Christian suffering through a divorce. It is full of excellent advice and assures that if you are ready to make the commitment to saving your marriage, there is hope for reconciliation.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A HELPFUL BOOK IN THE MIDST OF PAIN AND CONFUSION
Review: This book was the most helpful book that I read in the midst of my marriage's lowest point...although my husband wasn't seeking a divorce, but wanted to work out some major problems from our past, this book gave insight on how to hang in there in tough times. Being a born-again beliver, and believing the marriage is a sacred covenant between spouse and God, this book was right on target.....I would highly reccommend this book to anyone experiencing difficulty in reconcilliation in a marriage....you don't even need to be going through the exact situation to appriciate the insight that this book gives. My husband and I now experience a love and a marriage like never before!
