Rating: Summary: An excellent book! Review: Ten years ago, a man that was discipling me gave me a copy of this book. This book is now the most read and re-read book in my personal library. Ryrie carefully explains basic Christian doctrine so that every person can understand it! Ryrie is the quintessential conservative theologian! Do you sometimes read articles/books/journals on specific doctrines and come away frustrated, not knowing what to believe? Rest peacefully, Ryrie's book is one that you can trust to help guide you in your faith. I recommend this book this book without reservation!
Rating: Summary: I only have one complaint... Review: The text was an easy read, and the contents as you would expect. I admire any scholar who thoughtfully uses simple terminology - and does so without losing the precision of what he is trying to say.I didn't like the way the author handled the mid-trib and post-trib eschatological positions. Rather than presenting the positions in a fair manner, he refuted the positions -as- he explained them! It made the read cumbersome at that point. Why not refute it -after- it is expressed - perhaps in another chapter? Anyway, other than that it was a great read. The author is biased, but it is more or less in check until the eschatological section.
