Summary: An excellent modern English translation with study notes.
Review: This is an excellent modern English translation which i would recommend to anyone. The study notes in this version are for the most part of good quality and there are versions of this bible without the study notes if that is your preference. I find that this bible provides an excellent complement to my other bible, The New Jerusalem Bible (with footnotes). The NLT is written using language which is more accessible than the NJB while the NJB (with footnotes) provides a translation which appears to better reflect the underlying, original, text from which it is drawn. Depending upon one's tastes either is sufficient, i happen to find that the two together complement each other in a manner which aids me in understanding the underlying meaning.

Summary: Best study Bible
Review: This is the best study Bible I own -- over 10,000 life application notes help drive home the relevance of Scripture to our everyday lives. Another feature I liked was that, in the King James Version edition, there are plentiful footnotes to explain some of the more challenging words. I've started using the KJV because of its majestic style and historical ties to my own religious background (Anglican/Episcopal), but one obstacle has always been that some of the words have been difficult to understand. The footnotes really help in that respect.My only wish for this Bible is that it included the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books, but I suppose the omission is understandable, given (as I perceive it) the predominantly evangelical theological orientation of the contributors and editors.

Summary: Be a doer of the WORD!
Review: This is the only study bible I have because it reveals with clarity, insight into your decisions and motives while helping you to apply the word of God to every area of you life. You will find that every scripture refers to Jesus, therefore you are constantly reminded of God's power to save, heal, and provide. I have many bible references, but this is the bible I choose for life.

I love the translation because it is accurate, and easy to understand. The footnotes are excellent !!! Really gets You thinking, and helps You to apply the scriptures to Your daily life .I have used other study bibles. This one is My favorite. Extemely user friendly. I know this bible is a true blessing to alot of people.If You want to be sure its the study bible for You, Go to your local Christian bookstore and page thru one first.I'm sure You will love it with whichever translation You decide to buy. Review: This particular Bible brings simplicity to readers of all levels. In addition, the commentaries help to illuminate areas the reader may be dealing with; and assists in showing what scripture has to say about problems and solutions in our lives.

Summary: Wowie!! Is this really ME?, reading a Bible???
Review: Yes, yes yes! I received this from a friend. I never used to read the Bible -- too boring, couldn't understand, etc...that is until this came along! Very interesting to read and keeps my attention. I recommend this to any new Bible reader. Don't let anyone tell you that this version isn't "official." Bunk. If you've been looking into reading the Bible, this is THE ONE!!!
