Summary: Dr. Dementia
Review: To those who feel this book is not fiction:

... All theology aside, let's look at the raw facts and see if we can come to an honest assessment of the material presented in this book by Dr. Brown (Ruth Irene Bailey).

1) The supposed ritual that "Elaine" (another pseudonym) claims was used to crown her as the "Bride of Satan" is pure plagiarism from another fictional work "From Witchcraft to Christ" (1973) by Doreen Irvine. Irvines story was cribbed from "Anatomy of Witchcraft" (Peter Haining, 1972), which in turn was cribbed from a "confession" of a Mrs. Sarah Jackson in the "Sunday Pictorial" (1955). It worked for them, must be a good story, let's use it, maybe nobody will notice? Uhh, wrong answer.

2) Dr. Brown prescribed massive doses of Demerol for many of her patients, who often become addicted to the drug and had to undergo detoxification treatment to get unhooked. She also shot Demerol herself to "share" the patients' disease. Sound like God given advice to you???

3) After other doctors became aware of these inappropriate activities, Dr. Brown came up with the scheme that since she was the special messenger of God and the other doctors were against what she was doing, they must in fact be literal demons, devils and evil spirits hidden in the form of real doctors. Hmmm, sounds reasonable...yeah RIGHT!

4) A psychiatrist who examined Dr. Brown made this diagnosis:

She suffered from "acute personality disorders including demonic delusions and/or paranoid schizophrenia." Well, he must have been a demon as well I imagine...

There is a lot more, but don't have the time right now. ...

Ciao,
Bill

Summary: This is libel.
Review: This is libel. Plain and simple. Of all the SRA (Satanic Ritual Abuse) cases ever reported...they have ALL been discovered to be hoaxes...with no real hard evidence.

This whole thing is akin to the witch hysteria in Salem and other such places. The only thing that can fight such rabid anti-intellectualism and paranoia is knowledge and knowing the facts.

The fact is SRA doesn't exist. Period! There is no satanic conspiracy! No one is abusing your children.

I am a Pagan, and I am a peaceful person. The only thing SRA stories show...is the sick perverted imaginations of the fundamentalist Christians, because such lurid thoughts would never enter our minds. (this was the problem during the witch hunts of the middle ages as well...none of those things were happening either.)

It's my guess that being a part of such a paranoid and sexually repressed religion really causes a lot of projection and creation of all these insanely stupid and unfounded "memories."

I know Fundamentalist Christians love to have scapegoats, but this kind of thing is libel, pure and simple. All of the children who were "abused" in these SRA cases...really were abused...but they weren't abused by any imagined Satanists. They were abused by the system...and ignorant psychologists who didn't realize how highly suggestible kids can be.

These children have grown up...many of them with severe mental disabilities due to fears and horror over things they were led to believe happened to them, that never in fact happened to them. Those are the real abusers. Fundamentalist Christians who propogate this bunk may think they are doing people good, but all they are doing is stirring up old panic that has long since been discredited. If you really care about other people and the evil you think Satan is doing...then please, do us all a favor, and get out of your damned myopic viewpoint for two seconds and read the viewpoints of others on these and other topics.

If you are too scared of being led astray by the devil to look at actual empirical facts on the matter...then you are mentally disturbed yourself and should probably seek therapy...but NOT from a fundamentalist Christian therapist...who will no doubt help you recover fake SRA memories, so you can write your own book and start another panic.

Summary: Brutal Honesty
Review: I thought this book was exceptional. People who have never been exposed to spiritual warfare may find it difficult to grasp. I believe the authors ideas and experiences rings true. She seems to be very Biblically sound. I would recommend this book to all Church leaders and lay Christians, and especially people who are dabbling in the occult and/or fully committed Satin worshipers.

Summary: What are the real facts?
Review: I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and believe He died for my sins. I've studied the Bible for 15 years and have spent 4 years at a Bible College studying God's Word. I read this book at the recommendation of a friend and felt like it was a good book. But due to my own vulnerability, I neglected to test the books statements to see if they were even factual. I was looking to purchase the book on the internet when I ran across a very interesting website from Personal Freedom Outreach (http://www.paulblizard.com/brown.html) I would encourage anyone who is supportive of this book or interested in the truth, check this website out. In it he discredits the author of this book over and over again, not to make her look bad, but gives documentation on how she is not telling the whole truth. We as Christians need to not be so gullible, but check out the facts before promoting something as "truth".

P.S. I do believe that there is a supernatural being named Satan and he has a host of demons working for him. The Bible makes it clear of his existence. But the Bible makes it clear that we are to resist him, by first turning to God. That's the only way of resisting him. Not by all the ways Rebecca Brown mentions.

Summary: Psychotic Fantasies for Paranoid Pentecostals
Review: Having gone over the reviews, I am amazed that not one person has mentioned the anti-Catholic defamation(the Pope being a Satanist(!), "Is Catholicism Witchcraft?", and so on. The book is absolute rubbish, and it frightens me to think that there are so many people who accept this sick woman's delusions as reality(seriously, now: werewolves??)and undoubtedly look for Satanists under their beds.
There is only one solution...ACCEPT J. R. "Bob" Dobbs into your wallet RIGHT NOW! Get ready for the Land of Eternal Squirt, DEAR FRIENDS! Hey, if I want to believe in something ridiculous, at LEAST it's FUNNY!

Summary: Ignore At Your Eternal Peril.
Review: The author's account of her faith and obedience filled walk with God and her extensive experiences in spiritual warfare must be read.

She herself openly declares that everyone should not take her word as the absolute truth but that everything she writes and it's context should be weighed and measured against the written Word of God in the Holy Bible.

It is against this that we should weigh her experiences and accounts, and nothing else. The latter is the final and only Authority in this matter.

Personal hostility towards the author is to be expected, but this too should be weighed against the same principles of Scripture.

I have read many books related to spiritual warfare and personally find the books by Rebecca Brown to be among the very best. The worldwide spread of Satanism and the occult is alarming and we need to be aware of what the Holy Bible says about dealing with this increasing menace. This is fully dealt with by the author.

We need to be aware of the depth of deception that is spread by Satanism even through the channels of the 'church' itself. This is a vast subject that we ignore at our eternal peril. We need to be aware of where the true Christian stands in these matters and the Authority and Deliverance available to them through the Word.

When you see other reviewers professing to be Christians whilst rubbishing the author and suggesting you read Stephen King novels to obtain more information about the devil, then you can see where these people are coming from. Even more so if you have read the books by Rebecca Brown.

Take care.

Summary: This is not for beginners.
Review: This series of book-"He Came to Set the Captives Free", "Prepare for War", and "Becoming a Vessel of Honor" are not for the new Christian nor for the faint of heart. The trilogy chronicles Dr. Rebecca Brown's spiritual war against Satan and his closest followers: "against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12

For the mature believer - especially the Spirit-filled believer -this book is an essential part of the warrior's library. Against all odds, armed only with faith in Jesus Christ (which is always sufficient) and the Sword of the Spirit, Brown emerges victorious against the darkest elements of evil.

If these books were more widely-read, more Christians would be on their knees every day winning victories for the kingdom of God.

Summary: This book is pure garbage,
Review: Let me start this review by stating that I am a Christian, and I do believe in the existence of demonic spirits. However, this book is one of the biggest pieces of trash i have ever had the misfortune of reading. A friend told me about this book, and all the things that "opened thier eyes" to what is happening in the spiritual world. After reading it, my conclusion was somewhat different. Brown writes an interesting story that plays out like some cosmic soap opera, but just like soap operas the dialogue is second rate, the acting is bad, and the story is ridiculous to the point of absurdity. My biggest problem with this book is its utter lack of solid, biblically sound doctrine. If the reader is not a Christian , then that wont really matter, but if the reader is a Christian then they need to be cautious. The Bible is very silent about the realm of the supernatural. Christ dealt with demons, and Paul dealt with them. Other than that there is no real battle plan to "wage spiritual war" in the Bible. Therefore, any book that claims to have in depth knowledge, apart from revealed scripture, is bound to be erroneous. Again, this will not matter to non Christians, but to Christians it is very important. I hope that no one else buys this book, too many people have been duped by it already. Besides, if stories of the supernatural are what people are looking for, then go buy a Stephen King, or Dean Koontz novel. They are better written, and one could probably glean more truth from their writings than this garbage. I only gave this book 1 star because there was no negative scores on the ratings list.

Summary: A fraud.
Review: It wouldn't be such a big deal if this was just a book of fiction. The problem is that some people really get sucked into the paranoid thinking of the book. I have seen some people almost lose it mentally after reading this and buying into it. This book is harmful. Don't read it. Discourage anyone you know who is thinking about reading it from reading it.

Summary: A Bit Confusing
Review: I was a bit confused by this book. Let me acknowledge that I believe in Satan and his power, and I know that things like this really happen. I don't know, however, if this particular story was true. I have never actually witnessed a devil being cast out of a person, but I've heard many stories from people who have, and it never happened like Dr. Brown described it.

The main thing that I had a problem with was that this woman was trying to battle the devil and his minions without being properly armed. Rebecca Brown did not have the blood of Jesus applied to her life because she wasn't in the full truth and therefore did not have the power that she should have had when trying to protect herself from the attacks of Satan. I think that she went through a lot of pain and torture unnecessarily. Had this woman been baptized in the name of Jesus and received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues and had the revelation of the oneness of God, her battle would have been much easier.

One of my favorite parts was where the followers of Satan went to attack and torment a family - just as they had done many times before. The only difference was that this family was protected by the host of Heaven, and they couldn't get to them. I know that, when we have applied the blood of Christ to our lives, we have angels all around us, shielding us from the forces of darkness. I firmly believe that "Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!"
