Rating: Summary: One thing bothered me. Review: I believe the book to be full of many true facts. We have known for several years, that Satan has at least 4 brides in the United States alone. However, one thing bothered me toward the end of the book. The precious black couple mentioned. . . their 4 year old was taken and skinned alive in their presence. Why, when they were allowed to go home, didn't they alert the police to this horrendous act? It is hard for me to belive that they did nothing about this. The book doesn't say anything more about it.
Rating: Summary: Absolute Fiction!!! Review: The only purpose for this book is to feed the hateful stereotypes propagated by evangelical christains. This is just another example of how a small group of christains believe that lying about other beliefs and faiths is acceptable. Hate is hate.
Rating: Summary: Porn for Fundamentalist Christians Review: This book is just another example of the Religious Porn genre where pious Christians could still get their rocks off reading about the lascivious and wanton acts of witches et al. Such works have been around since the Middle Ages. The chapter explaining why Christians *must* eat meat was something new though.
Rating: Summary: 0 star rating Review: This Book is a horrible slanderous piece of crap. I myself being a Witch was asked to read this book by a friend. This book is filled with so much miss information about Witchcraft that it's no wonder most Christians have grown to hate us more than they use to. They have been misinformed by uneducated idiots. If this Dr. Brown really is a "Dr." I think you would know that Witchcraft is a recognizes religious belief that pre dates Christian beliefs be several thousand years and we have nothing to do with the "Christian Deity" known as "Satan". Not even into the third page of ch. 1 do they waste any time in slander. pg. 8 " Elaine, one of the top witches in the U.S., led an organized attack by many witches using all of their powers and skills to try to kill Rebecca. Now let my quote to you the Wiccan Rede: An ye harm none, do what ye will. Meaning do what you will as long as it hurts no one. I would seriously hope that no one would use this book as religious or spiritual reference. If you want to read a Great religious book for Christian reference stick to the Bible, and If you want to reference a Great religious book for Wiccan (Witchcraft)reference Id recommend Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft. Please everyone Stop the hate. Blessed be.
Rating: Summary: Compelling Review: This is a book about spiritual warfare. I believe it is entirely true, from my own personal experiences. I recommend this book to seasoned (salted) Christians, not for new christians. I would also recommend to any involved in the occult that want out. It is down to earth and straight forward.
Rating: Summary: Concerned Review: This book is dangerous and unbiblical. Associated with this book are lies, fear and an overall sense that God is weaker than Satan. I have been ministering deliverance to thousands - worldwide for over 33 years. He Came to Set the Captives Free is oftentimes one of the books that had been read by the person wanting freedom -- fear, incubus spirits, anxiety and many other problems started as a result of this book. Rebecca Brown books shouldn't be used as a validation for any true and Biblical method of deliverance.
Rating: Summary: A pastor's response Review: Years ago several young mothers in our church began reporting the appearances of ghosts, poltergeist, children with nightmares, and other spiritual atmospheric pollution in their homes. Upon investigation we discovered that this book was being passed around by these ladies. When they repented of reading it, and we prayed over their homes, these symptoms ceased. Another church member bought the book, and didn't eat or sleep for three days. As a pastoral team took her through deliverance, we discovered that the enemy's hold on her was this book. When it was destroyed, she was wonderfully freed. Since then, I have a growing file of reports from all over the world of spiritual pollution produced from this book. I encourage you to check out the background of the author. Also, look for footnotes. Any medical doctor, as this author claims to have been, knows the importance of footnoting for authenticity and accountability.
Rating: Summary: Horribly Flawed Review: A friend loaned me this book, and having studied spiritual warfare in the past, I was definietly interested. There is little doubt that the author is a doctor of medicine, and not theology. The interpretation of scripture is quite inconsistent and even lauhable at times. The author shows that even though her basic premise is correct (there is a war going on versus evil spirits), her doctrine and credibility is horribly flawed. A much better choice would be one of several books by Neil Anderson. He uses the scriptures much better, and more properly. I am praying for those enamoured by this book....those who are facing Satan's true most dangerous weapon: not fear, but rather DECEPTION! The Bible tells us to "test the spirits" to avoid false teachings. Anyone who honestly does this will disregard this book. (Sorry I usually do not rant like this, but I truly felt it important to say! Don't ignore the reality of spiritual warfare...but please find a better source book!)
Rating: Summary: Discover the bare facts Review: Rebecca Brown's book is definitely interesting and thrilling and when I first heard about it I had a passion to read it. I have spent a couple hours investigating the origins of her testimony I urge anyone who wants to read this book to at least look at this article: The Amazing Saga of Rebecca Brown MD and Elaine by G. Richard Fisher, Paul R. Blizard and M. Kurt Goedelman. I believe that this website gives the true facts around the life of Rebecca Brown. ...
Rating: Summary: He came to set the captives free Review: I think it's a great book! It is a real eye opener and it makes you more alert. It gives practical advice on spiritual warfare and easy to understand diagrams to explain things more clearly. I truely recomend this book if you will be dealing with people who are involved in satanism, witchcraft, new age,etc...
