Rating: Summary: Finding the One True God. Review: This book chronicles one ministry where Dr. Brown's response toher recognition of a need for increasing involvement in prayer, yieldsresultant increasing service to God. The focus on prayer in the face of seemingly daunting opposition as her only option in reaching out to those she knew needed help is the moral and method of this book. The questionable air time given to the occult is the greatest drawback. The reader becomes unnecessarily drawn into eyewitness accounts of human sacrifices and spiritual encounters which are of little value to the central message of prayer and love for the lost. A scary all night read, with a beautiful message about the work Jesus can do through a willing and broken servant. Perhaps an additional message is the downward spiral of behavior and depravity that is the result of falling into a spiritual lie. Accusations and condemnation of the author are all cast by those who are without sin, I'm sure. The author claimed no personal power over sin whatsoever; she depended entirely on and represented fully the risen, living, unburied Son of God who sits on the right hand of God, sustaining all things by his powerful word; who has overcome Satan's power over Death. Though unsettling to our culture, which has been blessed in forgetting occult spirituality with it's accompanying (too easily forgotten) atrocities, this was not all new! Selection of sacrifices from among attendees has been portrayed by Vincent Price! Yet this book does go a step further! Many of the accounts in this book are also similar, interestingly, to the magic and spiritual experiences of Chief Shoefoot of the Yanomamo Tribe in Argentinathe Family. This is intended as an invitation, not a condemnation of mystics and occultists. Dr. Brown truly cared for 'Elaine', and Elaine expresses her appreciation in this book. A seeker as well, I also delight in the freedom from horror that Elaine has experienced; the magnificent light of God's love and power which is orders of magnitude greater than any other, and which works for our good through a personal friendship watered by prayer.
Rating: Summary: A primer in the real business of demonic warfare Review: Rebecca Brown spent years ministering to, loving, fighting with, and caring for people coming out of Satanism. They barely came out alive, and some did not make it out. This book gives us a real practitioner's view of the practical reality of demons and how to defeat them.
Rating: Summary: A great work of ignorance Review: I found it difficult to finish this book, particularly after reading page 183 which stated that ALL martial arts are gateways to demons along with ALL rock music. Also the passage where Rebecca interrogates an angel. ALL references in the Bible where an angel was seen by someone resulted immediately in the person prostrating themselves on the ground. Angels always have to say to them to "fear not"....so I am completely convinced that not only is Rebecca Brown a paranoid lunatic, she is a brazen liar. Don't read this unless you ascribe to flights of wild fancy and drug-induced dreams.
Rating: Summary: The book is a doctrine of demons--misleads weak christians Review: I read the book and it is false! I also read two of her other books with Chick Publications and I have to say, shame on you Jack Chick. The author is self-deluded, and be careful not to become deluded yourself when reading this piece of fiction without realizing that sincere christians can also be in grave error. This lady obviously is. I know that some of what she says seems to ring true. yet most of her concepts of satanic rituals are but myth and fit right in with many who have gone into therapy and came out making false allegations of abuse against their parents. Psychology is an idol and as such is forbidden by God. No matter that so many in the church seem enamored by this false god. Their reward is a strong delusion from God which insures that they will believe the most ludicrous lies and deceptions because they have not received a love of the truth. Check out the problem of false memory syndrome and you will see that many churches have wrongly supported rebellious adult children who unscpriturally dishonor and slander their christian parents. Psychology won't admit its error and poses as infallible. Will the church of the Lord Jesus Christ make this same error? We must come out from among those in error and stand with the Scriptures and not worldly wisdom of this world passing itself off as christianity. Follow the man with the nail scars in His hands only.
Rating: Summary: The best book of Spiritual warfare! Review: I think that every christian and non christian should read this book, as it teaches us about the tricks of Satan and reveals all kind of obscure methods that demons can use to destroy a person. For those who are believers, a complete manual of spiritual warfare. For those who aren't believers, a warning for not to involve themselves in witchcraft or occultism. Jesus blesses you more and more, Rebecca Brown
Rating: Summary: I would give this book 0 stars, definately a'don't read'book Review: Spiritual warfare is definately very real and is something all christians should know how to recognize and fight...but NOT in the way this book presents it.
Rating: Summary: Just keep telling yourself, "It's only fiction" Review: HE CAME TO SET THE CAPTIVES FREE is probably one of the worst books ever written about demoniac possession and exorcism. It barely holds your interest even as a work of fiction, which it most definitely is. The fact that a drug-addicted doctor managed to convince so many that her tall tales were real should give all Christians cause for alarm. If you're searching for juvenile pulp fiction with conspiracy theories, Satanic cults, exorcisms, and a little gore, you've come to the right place. If you're looking for a serious study on Satanism or demoniac infestation, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I am so disappointed by the acrimonius reviews this book seems to have elicted; funny how books on satanic rituals never seem to elicit such harsh reponses. As with anything, seek Jesus Christ first and He and only He will reveal what is truth and what is fiction. I have read her entire series of books numerous times and I firmly believe each and every single word. She may have had battles to fight and hurdles to come through, but she is a living witness.
Rating: Summary: One of the best spiritual warfare books around Review: Time is of the essence, spiritual tribulation is on the rise, and Rebecca Browns book is a manual I use in my fight every day with Satan and his "fallen angels". This book is great! Its enlightening and its biblical references are spiritually uplifting. I highly recomend this book for all Christians. She brings us a view from both sides of the table to give the reader an almost first hand experience of how Lucifer and his daemons work.
Rating: Summary: Pure fantasy, and a very dangerous fantasy Review: Of all the hoaxes of this century Satanic ritual abuse is one of the biggest, and one of the most dangerous. There has been one known lynching, hundreds of false accusations and thousands of false memories planted into people's heads and thousands of families split up due to this lie. Once again we hear about bands of thousands of Satanists who are ritually killing more people a year than the number of homicides and missing persons. Again an imaginary Satan religion is made up combining elements of religous Satanism (which is really a harmless religion), Neo-Paganism, ritual magic and old Satanic myths. And we have no evidence to back this up. This book is just another shallow attempt to revive centuries old blood libel myths so followers of religions that differ from the author's own views can be persecuted again, and if Brown had her way we'd probably be burning them. For the truth about this kind of thing check out Satanic Panic by Jeffrey S. Victor and Satan's Silence by Debbie Nathan.
