Rating: Summary: READ IT!!!! IT WON'T HURT YOU TO GIVE IT A TRY!! Review: I thought the book was good. It was so good I let my friends read it,and bought her next one. I have also seen it around school. I don't like to read much but I really enjoyed this one. I don't think what Rebecca Brown wrote is false!
Rating: Summary: Dangerous and misleading Review: Don't bother buying it unless you're looking for a good fiction novel. The woman changed her name because she lost her medical license by giving people overdoses of narcotics(herself included)to treat unreal illnesses supposedly caused by demon possession, and after failing a psychological evaluation because of delusional behavior. She nearly KILLED the "Elaine" you read about in her books several times with overdoses of phenobarbital. Definitely a sick, twisted, little woman.
Rating: Summary: essential reading for serious Christians Review: I've been studying spiritual warfare for over 20 years (Mark Bubeck's books, The Adversary and Overcoming The Adversary among many others). I thought I'd read it all but Dr. Brown enlightened me on many things. Everything must be handled spiritually first. A case in point, severe (DAILY) stomach problems and throwing up is a part of my 15 year old's life. There is no medical diagnosis. The Holy Spirit has, since reading this book, confirmed to my spirit that it is not a medical problem. When we sin and open the door to our enemy, that door MUST BE CLOSED. Our children (and ourselves!) must understand that sin is devastating to our spiritual lives. We were involved in a Charasmatic church that was too full of grace. Sin and personal holiness weren't emphasised because we were too busy feeling "good". This son of mine participated in being slain in the spirit. I believe this is the door that was opened when his stomach problems began. The pastor had told the congregation , "DO NOT RESIST THE MOVE OF THE SPIRIT!". We were made to feel like rebellious Christians if we didn't go along with it.(His life never demonstrated fruit from this experience.Dr. Brown states over and over that we must know the word and live by it. The Spirit showed me that this experience is no where to be found in the Bible (falling backwards). We have since left the church. In any church, one must be in state of continual decernment, there are many false teachers. I feel Dr. Brown is NOT one of them. Her book spurred me on to more serious prayer, covering my family and being eager to begin deep prayer with each child to confess sins, close doors and educate each of the dangers of sin and the reality of warfare & how to practice it DAILY. I undertook the same intense prayertime for myself and was immediately attacked at night two nights in a row by demons. I cleansed, blessed and sealed my home and slept like a baby thereafter."Fight the good fight".
Rating: Summary: As one of those who has fallen prey to Satan... Review: It's so sad to see that this book's supporters can't think up anything better than the old satanic control excuse to explain why we don't like this book. Let's get a few things straight: "Dr." Rebecca Brown lost her license to practice medicine after diagnosing several conditions as demonic possession among other things. The language and holidays among other things are not those used by Satanists. There are no more than a few thousand Satanists in North America, no where near the amount needed for these big evil cults Brown speaks of. Thorns bend so there's no way they could penetrate someone's skull like the crown in this book does. These are the reasons, among many others that this book is accepted as a sick and dangerous fantasy, not because Satan has control of us. Or is this just evidence that the conspiracy is so big that they got rid of all the evidence and planted this...
Rating: Summary: Oh LORD!!!! That they may see. Review: It is no suprise that there would be opposition to this material. You will always find those who are quick to judge instead of asking "Father" for confirmation. Truth is truth weither you accept it or not. The experiences that my sisters have gone thru are a real testimoney of how rampent satan is trying to deceive and stop God's people and to keep the world in darkness. But thanks be to God who causes us "always"to triumpant in Christ Jesus.
Rating: Summary: One of the most INSPIRATIONAL books I've read!!! Review: Although, many Christians today disagree with Rebecca Browns beliefs I am a firm believer in what she talks about. Most Christians and non-Christians just put Satanism off as being fake, because they don't see it in their own life... they just hear stories about it. This book gives an inside look into what Satan does, how he works, and how to overcome them. It has inspired me in a great way, and has become one of my favorite books. He Came to Set the Captives Free is an excellent book for anyone entering into spiritual warfare!!
Rating: Summary: Exellent Review: This Book, is Exellent..and I consider it one of THE best I have read on this subject. I now look at it as a reference book, second to my Bible. I have learned alot of things I was not aware of before, and for the things I was aware of, I am truly committed to sticking with. Anyone who comments on this Book as being false, has fallen prey to Satan, or already is in the Occult and trying to keep you from reading this book. If you don't understand that, you will know what I mean when you read the book. I pray that you will overlook what people say, and listen to the Lord Jesus Christ to guide you on the right path.
Rating: Summary: This book is NOT fiction !!! Review: This book came into my life after a year of being harassed by evil. I was NOT into the occult, but moved into a house previously owned by those that were. I did not know Jesus Christ at the time, nor did I fully believe in the Holy Bible. Our Lord sent a friend into my life to tell me about the awesome power Jesus has over Satan and his demons. She bought me a bible and I began reading it. They attacked me ten times worse! I was terrified. (Satan uses fear to keep you from the truth) Later, my friend handed me Rebecca Brown's book. I sat and cried as I read it. She wrote many many things I was living EVERYDAY! These people that call it fiction, I pray you will never be attacked as I was.....because you will change your attitude. The Lord used this experience not only to show me I was "wrong" in my beliefs, but also to train me how to be a warrior for Christ. Rebecca's attacks during her book were due to training experience, and if you read them all, you will see that she learned well from the Lord. Some comments state she made up things as she went along, and some in the craft state she has it all wrong. The way some occultists practice are different from others. Satan uses a method that will work for you. There are no two people alike. Those that oppose this the most I have to question why? Has she hit on something that woke you up to the truth? Some are saying that the werewolves she talked about are false. How do you know that? I've read many other books by ex-occultists that said werewolves are used for extreme discipline. After what I experienced myself with evil spirits, I will NOT say that Rebecca Brown's book is a fraud. The truth is always attacked by those that are against it. Take the Holy Bible for instance. I used to "attack" it myself....because I was ignorant of the truth and didn't care to find out at that time. The Lord made sure I found out, and let me tell you folks.......Jesus is LORD. Those of you reading this that are in the occult....ask yourself why Jesus is the only one hated by you? Why isn't Mohammed, Buddha, or Krishna hated? Why is Jesus mocked and called the deceiver in hard rock? No other name is mocked by those in the occult. Ironically......that is the very name that can save them from the life of fear. You know longer have to watch your back in fear of those in your own kingdom. The kingdom of Christ is peace, love, and joy. His burden is light, and He became a WILLING sacrifice for you. Do you know anyone else that would do that? I urge others to read Rebecca Brown's book. Through her experiences and the Lord leading her to write it.. ...I was set free from a previous curse that made me think I'd lost my mind. Now I've read hundreds of testimonies like mine. The church is waking up. It's about time.
Rating: Summary: This woman needs help. Review: I had the misfortune of reading this book when I was a very young new Christian. Young as I was I couldn't tell fiction from fantasy. I came across a copy in my old things and couldn't believe that garbage like this is still in print. No wonder fundamentalists are so paraniod!P.S. I am not under satanic control as I write this!
Rating: Summary: Good start. More anecdotal than practical. Review: This is a good book for those who want to see the darker side of Satanism and it's costs. The face most see is that of Anton LaVey's Satanism--which is more humanistic hedonism than Satanism. A little gory in parts, but the body of Christ needs to become aware of this threat and how deep it goes. I feel that Mrs. Brown has misdiagnosed some of the phenomenon (such as the 'werewolves' being humans physically changed by indwelling demons--more likely they simply are demons which physically manifest w/o possessing a human), but overall it is useful reading.
