Summary: AWESOME! EYE OPENING!
Review: I read this book for the first time in high school. God really opened my eyes to what battles really occur in the spiritual world. I too had some questions regarding who is this Rebecca Brown etc... I have prayed extensively about this, and feel at complete peace with this book. I do challenge the rest of you to pray and ask the Lord to show you the Truth in this book as you read it. I have tried sharing this book with a lot of my friends and family... funny how people seem to always have an excuse why they shouldnt read it, or "God doesnt work that way", or "It's too deep for me"... hmmmm... i have never felt such objection to one book before. Maybe because its TRUE??? And Satan DOES NOT want you to read this material? Sure its really hard to believe 100 percent, but pray...ask God to reveal to you in your heart what is right...He will show you! For me God has used this book to shake me up a bit and head me on the right track. I am just a normal average California guy who was heading down the wrong road. God has brought me out of the "Gay Lifestyle" and is totally bringing me closer to him. This book has shown me what a deception Satan has brought on us! Anyone involved in ANYTHING to do with the occult, no matter if its drugs, alcohol, sex homeosexuality, martial arts, witchcraft etc... take a second look at what you are doing! If you need to, take a third or a fourth look :) This book will not solve your problems, but it WILL show you ways to battle Satan and step out of the darkness and into the light, onto the battlefield. The road is not easy, it never will be! Are you that comfortable with the life you are leading to continue on with it as if nothing is going on? PLEASE...! read this book for yourself! YOU who proclaim to be Christians! (yes i am talking to you too!) open your eyes! Dr Brown IS sharing Satan's deceptions. Do you really think Satan is going to make her look wonderful? He is the master of lies! Of course people will write reviews saying horrible things to lose her credibility! This IS Satan's world! Do you expect he would do anything less to someone trying to mess up his plan? The road IS NOT easy, just pray and ask God to put you where he wants you. SOOOO! I challenge YOU who are reading these reviews to really pray about what you should do. I can't wait for the day when i can meet Rebecca and tell her thanks for following the Lord! I will be praying for you both, Rebecca and Elaine, for your safety and your relationships to grow stronger for the Lord. Thru you both, God was able to bring me back! (phewww!) Ok enough...(read the darn book) (smile)

Summary: Captivating
Review: He Came to Set the Captives Free, and Ruth Irene Bailey (alias Rebecca Brown) came to captivate. So mesmerized was my mother by this book, that she immediately began what would be fifteen years as a Prayer Warrior, a woman that, by her supreme faith in God and "Rebecca Brown" would spend up to four hours a day "standing in the gap" and binding the forces of darkness.

One expectation of being "in the gap" is that one's physical health may go through the warfare that one's spirit body battles...

"You know you are, or have been, in the gap only when the Lord reveals it to you, or by the various problems in your physical body, which the Lord will confirm to you is from what has happened to your spirit body in the gap." (He Came to Set the Captives Free p. 180)

This alone would have prompted my mother to give a five star review of the book for its telling accuracy. My mother is unable to write a review because one month ago she died of neglected breast cancer that had spread throughout the bones of her entire body. She refused medical treatment, fearing it would interfere with her prayer time, and because, like "Rebecca Brown", she did not trust physicians, family, or friends.

"Rebecca Brown" was my mother's mentor. My mother did not die a martyr for her faith in God, she died a human being for her faith in another human being's disillusioned interpretation of Christianity.

Summary: REGARDLESS OF WHAT HER NAME IS...
Review: Whenever somebody decides to takes a stance for the truth they will face enormous opposition, and even death. Look what Martin Luther had to go through when he started the protestant movement. What happened to Ghandi when he stood up for independence? What happened to our own Martin Luther King, Jr. when he fought for civil rights? Abraham Lincoln when he fought for integration. And our own Lord Jesus when he would not deny the fact that he was the Son of God.

He was called a liar, a blashphamer, and ultimately died the most vilest of deaths because he stood up for what he knew to be true.

The bottom line is that people who feel uncomfortable, intimidated, scared, or in denial of the spiritual warfare is because they chose to be blind. They chose to not know what Satan and his demons are doing in this world because its more comfortable for them to not know. "Ignorance is bliss".

And, yes... there are many weak Christians that are not ready to handle this material b/c this is heavy stuff! It's not spiritual milk!

If Rebecca Brown was saying any of these things, I would tell you that She's lying:

"Satan doesn't exist"
"Satan is more powerful than God"
"Don't pray or rely on the blood of Jesus Christ because demons are not attacking your mind and your spirit."
"You don't need to worry about praising God and singing spiritual songs because you will be pleasing Satan".
"Take my word for it."
"Witches and Satan worshippers are good people."
"God doesn't give you authority to drive out demons."

IF SHE WAS SAYING ANYTHING LIKE THIS, I WOULD BE THE FIRST ONE TO TELL YOU, "SHE'S LYING. DON'T LISTEN TO HER". But she's not saying any of these words. She's saying....

"Don't take my word for it. Check the bible..."
"Satan does exist. And he's powerful. But God is more powerful and he's supreme."
"Jesus is our Lord and Savior. Call upon his name for deliverance and authority over demons."
"His blood cleanses you from evil."
"We are constantly under attack from Satan and his minions, and we need to put on the spiritual armor of God."

DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES THAT SATAN IS TRYING TO PUT IN YOUR HEAD. HE AND HIS DEMONS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW THE TRUTH. THEY WANT YOU TO BE STUPID, IGNORANT, AND WEAK, BECAUSE THEN YOU WON'T BE A THREAT TO HIM.

Summary: Black and White
Review: I read this book about 8 years ago. It was an eye opener. I was called into this ministry at the age of 13, and now 20 years later, I am finding myself using this as a source book for many things I see in attacks on the body of Christ. Hosea 4:6 says "My people perish for lack of knowledge." God has finally begun to use me and I know now how important it is to test the spirits and get into the word of God. It is the most important thing along with prayer that we can do as Christians. Satan does not want you to read this book. If you do, please ask God to remove the blinders and protect you. This is an area most Christians are not comfortable with. It isn't meant for everyone. I have read a review on this book from someone who is a catholic witch. This is a perfect example of satan attempting to dissuade you. He is so weak and Jesus has already defeated him. In the last days we are in, it is imperative to discern the truth because it is a black and white issue. There are no gray areas for Christians. Please do not look to man either, but to The Lord God. There is no name above. We are seated with Christ in the heavenlies above all power and pricipality (Ephesians) and this book helps you use the word of God and the authority of the Holy Spirit to live our lives more abundantly as we are promised. God is sifting the church and this book helps explain what God said he would do in the last days. May all your curses be broken and may all the blessings of God abound in your life so you can be set free.

Summary: An excellent book that unmasks the deceipt of the devil!!
Review: I read Dr. Brown's book a few years ago, shortly after I came to know Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. This book and the other three by the same author have helped me over the years to better understand the invisible cosmic conflict between absolute good in the person of Jesus Christ and absolute evil in satan and his demons. Thanks to Dr. Brown's books, I understood the need to purify myself, seal all the doorways of demonic infestation and strive to remain absolutely pure and to stay close to God. Now, I understand that a lot of what happens in the physical realm is determined by events and activities in the spiritual realm.

Satan is really alive and very active on planet earth, but Jesus Christ is even more powerful than the devil and stands ready and willing to help those who genuinely want to stop serving the devil and turn to God. Jesus Christ of Nazareth truly offers hope, peace, security, joy and eternal life for those who earnestly want Him to be their Lord and Master. Rebecca Brown's book is worth reading by Christians and non-Christians. God bless you, Rebecca. I look forward to seeing you in heaven.

Summary: he came to keep the sheeple controlled
Review: First off, the cover picture says a lot. A robed figure kneeling within a pentagram surrounded by black candles, being pulled "down" into a pit of flames by burly arms, while another arm, shining white, extends a golden sword that slices through binding chains. A classic depiction of "good vs. evil" mythical sub-mentality.

Keep in mind that this propaganda was published by Chick Publications, those presumptuous cartoonists who put out those ridiculous little tracts mostly found in the seediest of places, with the hope of converting any simpletons who would actually take the laughable tales seriously.

My position is THIS: If someone considering themself a "satanist' becomes converted by those things, then GOOD RIDDANCE! They were not true Satanists to begin with, but rather, 'devil-worshippers', who simply exchanged one crutch for another. They were always within the confines of that particular mythology anyway, & they prove to be unstable, insecure types who really have nothing of true value to contribute to the Satanic Movement to start with. SHEEP, whether black or white, are still SHEEP. In other words, SLAVES seeking a master to follow, always searching for new routes of escapism. And what better 'master' to follow, than the sheepherder, the king of all slaves? Whether the xian "Satan", or jehovah/jesus, there must always be some kind of torture they must endure, either the self-destructive activities of devil-worshippers, or the self-denying delusions of the blindlight of xianity. In short, they were SCABS, & We have no use for them in such a capacity.

The alleged "satanists" {devil-worshippers} characters in this book claim that they were swept up into the evil cult of "The Brotherhood", a supposed world-wide secret organization of diabolists. All these elaborate tales of incognito 'covens' began in the 60's, & persist to this day, fueled by the Satanophobias of xians, who have, for all these years, attempted to defame The Church of Satan since its inception in 1966 c.e. In return, COS has continued to evolve & prosper, unscathed by xian fantasy-mongering. Simply because, the monumentous ritual was performed not only by the formation of COS, but in the unleashing of the grimoire, THE SATANIC BIBLE, which spells out the philosophies & practices of Satanists, & dispells paranoid xian notions. Yet many are those who choose not to accept the truth, because that would shatter the foothold of fear they continue to force upon children & gullible grown-ups. The Fear Magnet is their primary tool of manipulation, besides the sweet-talking, empty promises of Utopia.

"There is no heaven of glory bright, & no Hell where sinners roast. Here & now is our day of torment! Here & now is our day of joy! Here & now is our opportunity! Choose ye this day, this hour, for no redeemer liveth!" SATAN 4:2.

xians prey upon the weak, who have hit rock-bottom, &/or are mentally disturbed. The white serpents move in for the kill, in their insidious plot, that eventually serves to justify the new convert's weakness & servility with "righteous" rhetoric. Praising mediocrity all the while, & transforming the wretch into a born-yesterday drone.

"I dip My forefinger into the watery blood of your impotent mad redeemer, & write over his thorn-torn brow, the TRUE prince of evil - the king of the slaves!" SATAN 1:6.

Selling out to jesus means trading in your birth right to experience life to the optimum, will all its rainbow of pleasures, experiences, & treasures. It is to consign yourself to a living death of abstinence, robbed of Individuality & Independance. xians are white wolves in sheep's clothing, & their "help" comes at a heavy price. If anything, they should be used for their selfless-ness, like the lowlife slaves that they are, & discarded like so much rubbish.

Back to the book, & its devious title. The two main characters of the fictional book, Elaine, the "ex-high priestess", & Rebecca, the opportunist, batter & beat eachother throughout the folktale, in a latent sado-masochistic, dysfuntional relationship, with lesbian overtones.

Of the creators of the Satanic-panic of the 70's & 80's the authoress Rebecca Brown, along with Mike Warnke, Hal Lindsey, & even geraldo rivera, have become the throw-back paranoiacs of the Salem "witch" tryals, screaming out in fits of frustration & fear, at anyone different from their narrow-minded misperceptions & xian exclusivity. How typical, in classically xian hypocrisy, that those who would be so 'patriotic' of this nation, with its mixture of religious expressions & traditions, would be the very same who would condemn & JUDGE others' belief-systems as "false", & "demon-inspired". Again, how typical. These erstwhile critics are confused in themselves, as exemplified by their obviously passive-aggressive behaviour. The closest thing to a xian are the Quakers. For they LIVE IT as a lifestyle, existing in a living death. Take a tip, all you evangelists & sheep-brained zombies - shut up & plow the fields!

The book is definitely a mind-crippler to anyone with psychic abilities who would be taken in by the 2000 year old scam. Any religion, any bible, that would instruct one to deny their natural sensory & extra-sensory skills, & what's more, call them "wrong" or "sinful", is in itself, MENTAL ABUSE, & must be shunned, ir order to preserve those precious talents you were born with.

xianity thrives on the subjection of the mind, body, & 'spirit'. They would have you bow to their "commandments" without question, without doubt, & in blind faith.

"Open your eyes, that you may see, Oh men of mildewed minds, & listen to Me ye bewildered millions!
For I stand forth to challenge the wisdom of the world; to interrogate the "laws" of man & of "God"!

I request reasons for your golden rule & ask the why & wherefore of your ten commands. Before none of your printed idols do I bend in acquiecence, & he that sayeth 'thou shalt' to me is my mortal foe!" SATAN 1:2-5.

Read the entire introduction to The Book Of Lucifer {The Satanic Bible pp. 39}, & that will answer the bogus claims that Satan is "the father of lies", which will discredit xian attempts to discredit Satanism as a whole, & this review/article.

"The angel of self-deceit is camped in the souls of the 'righteous' - The eternal flame of Power through joy dwelleth within the flesh of the Satanist!" SATAN 5:13.

HAIL SATAN!

Summary: A Horrible Example To Set As A "Supposed" Christian
Review: This is an example of CHRISTIANITY at it's worst. Someone under the identity of Ashlee Gutierrez (see more about me) has went around to all of the best selling authors in the new age section such as John Edward, Sylvia Browne, ...... and wrote satanic reviews on them using this Ashlee Gutierrez name and recommending this book by name and author.

On the review for John Edward's book Afterlife she left this horrible threatening quote, "A man or woman who is a medium or sorcerer among you must be put to death. You must kill them by stoning. They're responsible for their own death." Then later on she writes on his same review "I thought this man was from God, he's not. He is a servant of Satan, a very willing puppet of his." No, John Edward is not the sick one here it is the person writing these reviews.

This is a SICK PERSON who AMAZON needs to BANISH and I am reporting them, but I suspect it is a spoof name set up by the author, and or some of their family or friends of this book this "Ashlee" sold boldly leaves on each of their reviews along with her "Kill The Mediums" commentary. What a PITIFUL way for an author to attempt to gain publicity. May YOUR GOD of WRATH and MURDER have pity on your soul. As it was your type of personality that was screaming "Crucify Him" at Jesus in front of Pilot. As he too was accused of being a "Sorcerer" by Pharisee's like you. So I guess John Edward is in good company.

Summary: fear factor!
Review: The reason I am writing this review is because my daughter said she wanted to read it. Immediately warning signs were going off. I read this book many years ago. I have mixed feelings about it but mostly uneasy, suspicious ones. I wonder if a book that promotes prayer and God's power can be bad because this book does do that. However; these truths are intermingled with complete lies. That is a very bad thing. It causes one to wonder if everything she has written is a lie. For example; Rebecca Brown claims to have met Satan personally and to have sat down and talked face to face with a real angel for hours. She tells us that Satan gives us power to levitate and even weirder, transport. This is a rediculous claim. I know that God allows Satan power but, he is not God and can not manipulate human cells to defy the laws of physics. This book is full of grusome details and constantly dwells on Satan's power and deceptions. I know that it is so important to be sober-minded because our enemy, the devil, prowls, searching for whom he may devour. But, we must not forget that greater is the One in me than the one in the world.
This is the kind of book that makes people act like weirded out Christians living in fear and looking for evil symbolism in everything but will watch SNL and Will and Grace. Satan is subtle. That is why we need to focus on obedience to Christ instead of Satans treachery. I can not understand Rebecca Brown or where she is coming from but, Christian or not, I don't think I will be letting my daughter read a book written by an ungrounded, unstable person that doesn't seem to know the difference between the truth and a lie.

Summary: Lying for God?
Review: I read this book some years ago and I thought it was thrilling. Of course, I was a kid at the time, which meant that this was like reading a horror story, but without getting in trouble with my parents for it.

That's exactly what this book is--a horror story, and not a very good one. Rebecca Brown seems to claim that she's working for God, but in truth it just appears that she's working for herself. This book makes outrageous claims and conveniently hides under pseudonyms. How much of it can be corroborated? Are there portions of this book that would flounder under scrutiny? (I would answer very quickly--"Yes!") If this book is true, then why is there no evidence? If this book is not true, then we have to categorize Dr. Brown with Lauren Stratford, Mike Warnke, Joseph Smith, Rev. Moon, and countless others who have welded lies and religion into one monstrous mass and deceived many who came into contact with it.

I don't say that lightly at all; my opinion is that this book is a clutch of lies, and a despicable one at that. Brown's work was another brick in the fortress of the 'Satanic Panic' of the 1980s, which sent many innocent people to prison for years based on trumped-up charges of satanic ritual abuse and child sexual abuse. This kind of foolishness has ruined lives; if you're interested in how, just look up the names 'Gerald Amirault' or 'Bernard Baran'.

I am not leading a charge against God or the church. I am a Christian, and hopefully a devout one. I love the Lord, and I do believe that the devil is real and is active in this world, and his intentions are to subvert God's work in the lives of mankind. I spent seven years as a missionary kid to Haiti--believe me, I have a healthy understanding of the importance of spiritual warfare.

Dr. Brown's book does not teach believers anything practical on the subject of spiritual warfare. It promotes fear, superstition, panic, and paranoia. I urge anybody considering reading or purchasing this book to look elsewhere.(...)

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: read but with great discernment
Review: The strength of this book lies in it's emphasis on prayer, discernment in spiritual warfare and disclosure of some significant satanic tactics. Its weakness is in describing power-encounters with the enemy allowed through underdeveloped strategy over against systematically dealing with whatever gives him any advantage whatsoever. The evil one always has a reason as to why he can influence anyone. Those reasons--"footholds"-- are our problem. Once dealt with, he has nothing to work with. Power encounters will still happen now and again, but those who know the decisive and stunning victory of Calvary over the evil one will, like Jesus, make short work of the enemies nonsense.
