Summary: Full and Complete
Review: A glorious help to my everday devotions and an incredible tool when searching for answers to specific questions.

Summary: Outstanding Study Tool
Review: As a full time minister, I've used quite a few study Bibles. Thompson's chain system is simply the best I've found. You won't find daily devotionals or specialized commentary interspersed with the text, but you will find a research system that is easy to use and comprehensive. You can easily put together lessons on a vast number of topics using this study Bible alone. If you can have only one Bible -- get one of the Thompson's Chain editions in the translation of your choice. You won't regret it.

Summary: Love the Thompson Bible, but NASB edition needs updating
Review: As far as study bibles, the Thompson Bible is far and away my personal favorite because its outstanding chain reference system is based on the concept of using Scripture to interpret Scripture. Although annotated study notes can be very helpful, I personally prefer the Thompson approach of linking Scripture by related topics and themes.

My one serious problem, and the reason that I've had to reluctantly discard my Thompson NAS Bible, is that they have not yet published it in the NAS as updated in 1995. Anyone considering purchase of this otherwise outstanding study Bible should be aware of this. Hopefully, Kirkbride will soon address this issue.

Summary: Thompson with NASB? WOW!
Review: Combining the The Thompson Chain-Reference Study Bible (TCRSB) with the most accurate translation of the Bible - NASB - was a stroke of genius! The TCRSB is probably the only study Bible that does not attempt to influence its readers by biased or slanted notes. You can study topics, characters, etc without having to read unnecessary notes. It takes you verse for verse, passage by passage through thousands of topics. This is a must have study Bible!

Summary: This is UPDATED
Review: Everything said about the Thompson Chain Reference Bible in the other reviews is true. BUT...the New King James appears to be the first version which includes several important updates to the bestseller.

These include: All chains are finished. Even if there is no forward reference number in the margin, the verse will appear in the chain in the numerical index.

Chain topic titles have been renamed for consistency. Also, ALL chain verses are labeled in the margin. (The N.M.=Not in margin symbol has been completely done away with.)

The layout of the chain (numerical) index is much better. All verses in the chain are listed. Verses which have the forward-reference in the margin are BOLD so that you can distinguish between the key verses in the actual chain and all the verses which are listed for a given topic.

The BOOK OUTLINES have all been enhanced by making each one carry certain consistent headers such as MAIN THEME and KEY WORDS.

For those interested, the NKJV Thompson is Red Letter. Also, this version DOES have the textual notes in the New Testament that distinguish readings from Nestle/UBS (NU)and Majority (M) texts if they differ from the Textus Receptus (upon which the KJV is based and thus also the NKJV; this feature is the only one of its kind in any current English Bible and is a great and quick way for textual scholars to compare text families.)

Many of the charts and diagrams have been updated and look much better. Several of the sketches (such as the character portraits in John's Gospel) have been replaced with actual pictures, little paintings, actually in grayscale.

All in all, because it provides a wealth of additional helps and information and because its basic feature is letting Scripture interpret Scripture, there is no better choice for a study Bible in a reliable and yet beautiful modern translation.

Summary: ALL-IN-ONE BIBLE LIBRARY!
Review: For many years, I searched for the "ultimate" Bible. Being an avid New King James Version reader, we don't always have as many resources available as the King James or NIV people. My most useful Bible study tool is many, many cross-references, which I always looked for in NKJV Bibles that had the most. The Thompson Chain has much more than the standard cross-references. The chain references are just that: you go to the alphabetical index to find your subject, (which there are listed around 4,400 different topics) and you go to the first reference, and simply chain through the scripture references. In other words, they are cross-referenced in sequence order! The topics are as detailed as "blue" and as extensive as "God"; these more extensive subjects are then broken down into various sub- topics. Also, in the back of the Bible, the subjects are listed by title, then all the references are given, and the more main ones are chained throughout the scriptures, and some topics' scriptures are written out in the back also! There are also absolutely no commentaries, nor any conclusions drawn in this Bible! I would 100% recommend this Bible (in any version you use) for those of us who love many, many cross references, and believe first and foremost to compare scripture with scripture (1Cor. 2:13) in Bible studies. For those who like this, this Bible has everything!

Summary: one of the only true authentic bibles left for mankind.
Review: hello, this new king james version is of the finest true-authentic versions left for mankind today whereas other versions seem to literally try and change the meanings of the words used in the original king james version, this instead, only clarifies the words already used into plain comtemporary english; which is to me, an excellent writing; however, I remain opposed to any books that claim to have attained the same status as the original king james version, while literally changing the meaning of the words.
