The Oxford Study Bible: Revised English Bible With Apocrypha

Review: This is the only modern translation of the Bible that really uses "good" English. In some sections, it is an absolute masterpiece. The only minor flaw is a perceptable liberal bias which can been seen in some passages. I recommend it highly.

Summary: A Good Study Bible
Review: This Study Bible and the translation (REB) will make a good addition to any biblical library. The REB is very easy to understand (except for British words and spellings, but this should not be a problem for most), and is quite lively. I find this translation excellent for reading out loud. The REB rendering of John 1:1c is perhaps the best ever and should be checked out. The actual Study Bible is not as useful in my opinion. The notes are from a very liberal viewpoint, and I find them to contain either too much information or not enough. I enjoyed the essays at the beginning of the Bible, but once again, they will be too liberal for some.
