Summary: Even better than the first two!
Review: I love this series, and this one is the best yet. Karon is developing Fr. Tim's character so beautifully, and the lesson of the cave was incredibly touching. I'm seldom moved to tears by a book, but this one did. Beautiful!

Summary: Captures the essence of a small town life.
Review: I loved the whole Mitford series. You really get a feel for the small town life. The characters come to life and you want to meet them. Their situations really get your heart going; you want to be a part of them. I wish there were more books in the series.

Summary: A soothing read at the end of a hectic day.
Review: I read the first book in the series, and found myself oddly drawn into the mundane activities in Mitford. This is not my usual type of book at all, and yet, I found myself looking forward to the end of the day when I reserved a little time to read it. It is soothing, somehow. Not to say that the characters don't have problems and sorrows. They are quite human. I really loved the monologue by Fancy Skinner as she cuts Father Tim's hair. I had hoped to get the 2nd book in the series from the library, but the librarian had taken it home to read herself. I jumped right into book three! Will go back and read book two, gladly. It is easy to become addicted to these characters.

Summary: Read This!
Review: I really liked this book. I read the one that come before it in the series, and it was really good , too. It is about an Episcapol priest named Timothy Kavanaugh and his new wife, Cynthia. A lot of things happen, both good and bad, but they keep their faith and their love for each other.

Summary: Good Mini series
Review: I realy enjoy Jan's charactor development but I am having a real problem with the way she leads you right up to a event and then the event is glossed over or like the tea party not realy explained enough. I am finding this to be extremely boring. Its like preparing to do something and finding out you are not invited.

Summary: These High Green Hills
Review: I was involved with this one from the start. It made me want to be in Miford with these folks. I would love to find a town like this and live there forever. Jan has done a fine job making the reader part of the story. You get the feeling you are part of this lovely community.

Summary: Like One Big Family! A Book That Stays in Your Heart!
Review: I was totally absorbed in this book, just like the other two before it.

In this sequel, Jan Karon shows us small-town life for what it really is, completely engrossing. Father Timothy Kavanaugh is married to more than his lovable and eccentric Episcopal parishoners. He's also married to Cynthia, his vivacious and talented neighbor, who is a famous children's author. Suddenly, the routine of a sixty-something bachelor is out the window. Will they be able to keep Father Timothy's dog, away from Cynthia's arrogant cat? Can Father learn to love the old-Italian-villa look his wife is bent on giving the rectory? Dooley Barlowe, the neglected boy, whom Father Tim loves as his own son is experiencing "growing pains." Then, above all, the pverty and violence of an area known as the Creek comes knocking at the rectory door.

Being at home in Mitford, has its challenges for sure. The book is fun to read, and extremely hard to put down!

Summary: Good Book
Review: I've read all of these books, including this one. They're all well written stories, the characters are realistic and likeable and the tales are not predictable. Good, heart-warming reading. I recommend this series highly.

Summary: A Common Life - The Wedding Story by Jan Karon
Review: I've read the five prior books in the Mitford series by Jan Karon and loved every one of them. I waited all winter for this book to be published and couldn't wait to read it. I don't know what Jan Karon was thinking about - perhaps money. But, it wasn't the contiuation of the wonderful stories in the Mitford series. All this book does is retell the story of Tim and Cynthia's engagement and marriage in a more detailed way and some perspective of some of the people in Mitford. Not in any way up to her uplifting previous five books. When the next ones are published, I'm going to take them out of the library before I add it to my collection. I'm sorry one star was the lowest rating. I'm so disappointed!

Summary: Visit Mitford -- you won't be disappointed!
Review: If you cry during reruns of Little House on the Prairie, you'll love this and the other four titles in the "beloved Mitford series." This is the kind of reading that diehard nonfiction readers scoff at: too soft, too sweet. But don't we all deserve to be touched by an angel once in a while? The Mitford series centers on Father Tim, an aging priest who ministers to the small by lively congregation of the Lord's Chapel. He is by turns fussy, funny, and faithful (the kind of faith that is simply there, not overdone, just a part of daily life). And Karon's gift as a writer is that she allows his story to unfold. We discover the characters and the subplots without the heavy hand of a writer who wants to ensure that we "get the message," and we're delighted in the process. Even if your usual bedtime fare is A Brief History of Time, I encourage you to visit this little town for a while. You'll come away enriched.
