Summary: Refreshing and Inspirational and Enjoyable!
Review: I am now starting my third time reading this series of books. The series is constantly teaching me how to be a better human being while still thoroughly enjoying incredibly well written books. I give the first book as a gift to many friends.

Summary: Love love love these books
Review: I can't wait to dive into the next on

Summary: Another winner by Jan Karon
Review: I did not expect to go beyond the first Mitford book. The first book I found to be just slightly "sugary". However, I was hooked and had to go on to the second to find out what happened to each of the characters. I enjoyed the second book very much and then was forced to read the third book as I am now totally addicted. Tonight I finished the third book and tomorrow I start the fourth. I am in love with these people and this town. Totally unrealistic but who cares? I would love to live there.

Summary: The best of the Mitford series. It's love all over again.
Review: I fell in love with Father Tim, Cynthia, Dooley and Barnabas in the first book, At Home In Mitford, then continued that love affair through A Light in the Window. I listened to these on audio, which is perfectly read by John McDonough. When These High Green Hills wasn't available in audio at my local library, I read my first book in years...absolutely delightful, even to imagining McDonough's rich narration. Now I have the audio and am reliving the whole experience, because this is the best of the three. Thank you Jan Karon for your wonderful characters...I'm looking forward to the warmth and humor to continue when Out of Canaan finally appears

Summary: I wanna go to Mitford!
Review: I have looked for years for a series of books that are as warm and inviting as this. I fell in love with Father Tim and all the people who live in Mitford in those beautiful mountains. I grew up in a similar town in West Virginia in the 50's. I found myself crying out loud when the oldest citizen in town passed away! I have completed 4 of this series, and hesitate to read on. When I finish--I'll lose touch with old friends and loved ones.

Summary: not bad
Review: I have more complaints with this book than I did with the first two, though I still enjoyed it overall. I got very tired of Father Tim's constant contemplation of his new marriage, how much it had changed it his life, and how he could hardly believe his fortune. How had he survived all these years without Cynthia? How could he have not known what he was missing? And so on, over and over and over again. This book seems filled with more cheesy dialogue, old-fashioned language, and quaint expressions than the first two. And it seemed to me that nearly everything written about Father Tim's and Emma's new computer was completely made up by someone who had never used a computer before. However, all criticism aside, I still enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the fourth one.

Summary: Peace with Ms Karon in Mitford
Review: I have read four of the Mitford books and am anxiously awaiting the fifth. Since I read so much I must wait for the paperbacks--and waiting for this one is difficult. Having been to Blowing Rock I know what a delightful community it is and were it not for the hurricanes, etc would like to live there. Ms Karon is a most excellent writer and makes one feel they are in all the areas she writes about -- makes me a part of the book and I feel I know all the characters. After I read the next one I know I will be just as eager to read number six. Please write faster.

Summary: Another winner in this wonderful, heartwarming series
Review: I have zoomed through the first 4 Mitford books and am now midway through the 5th. The characters grab you and transport you to a town where I think, deep down, we would all like to call home. Father Tim is a "real" person with very human characteristics. Yet his basic goodness will restore your faith in humanity. The theology is not shoved down your throat, but rather is grasped between the lines. All the characters are memorable. Cynthia and Dooley in particular help shape the wonderful story line. The huge dog, Barnabus, who is disciplined only by hearing Bible verse, worms his way into your heart. I am so glad I discovered this series, and I recommend it to absolutely anyone!
