Summary: A fabulous Bible for personal devotions & group studies
Review: "The Word" is the most helpfull Bible I have ever used in my 25 years of study. Let's face it, unless you are a Greek or Hebrew scholar, you may be missing out on the sense of a verse. You may wonder "Just what is God trying to say here?" This book offers up the best of all the translations together in a neat bouquet. Among them a sturdy sense of the meaning is gained with out a great deal of effort. Not only is fuller sense of each verse gained, but reading the verse over and over again in 4 or 5 translations plants the meaning deep in your heart and ministers to us in a way that a quick reading of one translation can not do.

Most of us routinely refer to only one or two translations a week in our personal devotions. We are missing out! This book is a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of God and his Word. The Bible, although dismissed by some as myth, is just as immediate and relevant to our life today as tomorrow's newspaper. Human nature has not changed and the gripping stories of disasters, dangers, battles, triumphs, passions, pride, true loves, sorrows, and salvation of people are still facinating. They warn us, teach us, inspire us and strengthen us. For we learn to awe an unfathomably great God, not a distance absentee landlord, but an infintely personal and loving God who sacrificed the best He had, His uniquely born son Jesus Christ, as a final answer to the world's one and only problem: sin.

"The Word", in it's rainbow of translations, brings a new vibrance to the Bible. So if your Bible is gathering dust on a shelf some where, try reading this presentaion of the scriptures and see if a new light is shed on such questions as: who God is, who you are, the meaning of life, what happens when we die, how can I make my marriage work, how do I raise children, etc. - all the BIG questions of life. God has answers, but it is up to us to make an effort to hear them. This special version makes it easier to listen.

Summary: The Ultimate Insight Bible
Review: I have been using this Bible for many years now. Found it extremely useful in my devotions & Bible study especially getting new insights on each particular passage under study. This Bible provides in one volume all the various insights needed for Bible Study; easily arranged in a very user-friendly format - verse-by-verse and phrase-by-phrase.

No need to buy many translations of the Bible for serious Bible study. All I need is just this one Bible for all my Bible study. Also, its easy to carry around in one volume during my overseas trips.

Truly, one of my best investment in studying the Bible. Highly recommended for both new & seasoned students of the Bible.

Summary: Good but could be better
Review: I love the fact that I have a Bible that references so many different translations. One issue I have with this Bible though, is that Mr. Vaughan does not include all of the pertinant differences between translations. For instance, at John 8:58 he list several Bibles that have Jesus saying "I AM" but he does not list the Living Bible which has Jesus saying 'I existed before Abraham was born.' The Living Bible does not try to attach John 8:58 with Exodus 3:14. This is quite different from other Bibles and the readers should be made aware of it. (Incidently, if you want to read more about John 8:58 and the issues involving it's translation, see the book "Jesus-God or the Son of God?", available here at Amazon.com.)

There are other instances where he has not mentioned how some Bibles read differently than others, but I don't want to make a huge issue out of it. I would just encourage Mr. Vaughan that the next revision be more trustworthy and inform us of all the different translations that he claims to cite. I don't know if personal beliefs have caused him to periodically leave out translations that say something different from the norm, but the more credibility he maintains with his audience the better it will be for him.

Summary: Makes reading the bible interesting and informative
Review: I must admit, that reading the Old/New Testaments is a very hard and often boring/tedious task to accomplish. (What? No one else has this problem? Sheesh.) While I maintain that the original King James Version is the most accurate of all translations based on the best and numerous extant ancient manuscripts, the King James English leaves me in the lurch as far as being understandable. Some passages are beautiful, but the archaic idioms, syntax, sentence structure and words give me no benefit in understanding the content and meaning of the verses. Enter "The Word" in 26 translations. While this sounds rather daunting, this version does a very smart and efficient thing. While it is true that there are 26 different translations, this edition only lists any significant differences from certain translations as compared to the King James version, which is used as the primary reading verse. So in reality, for each verse, you may have about three to five different readings underneath the King James verse. If something in the KJV seems foggy in meaning, you can immediately skip down underneath the verse to see the alternative translations. This brings much clarity and insight. The only "drawback" to this edition is it's realitivly large size. It isn't light or small by anymeans. However the understanding and insight gathered from this translation has more than made up for the relatively expensive price and oversized shape of the book. If the publishers ever produce a volume that is much smaller than this edition, I am sure that it would be a best seller. I found this book a great solution for the scripture reading blues.

Summary: Very, Very, Very Useful and Helpful!
Review: I use this for at home bible reading and study. This is a great work! Quite amazing actually. The KJV text is in bold black type and numerous translations are in standard type positioned immediately beneath the corresponding line, phrase or KJV verse. The format is superb and fast reading. I looked at many, many other parallel and interlinear bibles before this one. This is the best of all. I STRONGLY recommend The Word.

Summary: Excellent for the Pastor, Teacher and Preacher & Student
Review: The layout, format and presentation of the 26 translations is very ingenious. The different translations are presented without duplicate translations cluttering the page. However, I still need a reference Bible, concordance and index to get me back to familiar Scriptures that I can't remember where they are at the moment. But for verse by verse commentary (the Bible explaining itself), this Book is Divinely Inspired! It takes a while to remember which abbreviation (ASV, Knox, NAB, Sept, YLT, ABPS, etc.) is what translation. That keeps you turning back to the front for a while. But you will always have the King James Version as the standard Scripture of this Bible. The other 25 translations are presented under the King James Version in a verse by verse, sentence by sentence, thought by thought format to give you a breadth of the different colors and meanings of the various Hebrew and Greek words as translated by the different versions of the Bible.

Summary: The Word: The Bible from 26 Translations
Review: The only Bible translation I've found among 26 different translations as advertised is KJV. What are the others? If Amazon or the publisher named all 26 different versions, this will help me to choose it without future regret... Please do this!

You can't make any mistakes when expressing a clear, complete and concise explanation of the Word of God.
This Bible renewed my desire to study the Word of God and regenerated a joy in delivering a message to the people of God in order to make their walk with God more understandable.
