Summary: A personal view of the Crucifixion
Review: I have been using HE CHOSE THE NAILS as a study for our youth group in preparation for Easter. It has been very powerful as each chapter brings a "minor" element of Jesus' death to a new personal level.

The beauty of this book is that it reaches your heart no matter what your circumstance. For those who do not know the love of Christ to those who have grown up in the church always knowing that Jesus died for them...this book gives a shocking revelation of the extent of God's love through rich, intimate pictures.

The Gospel accounts of the Jesus trial and death have a deep and personal meaning for our youth since we studied HE CHOSE THE NAILS.

Summary: Always Outstanding!!!!
Review: I just finished reading this book and Max Lucado, as always, has written another outstanding book. He analyzes the symbolism of the three crosses, the nails and the actual crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. His use of imagery in the book is second to none as you feel as if you were actually present during the actual event. I have walked away with a deeper understanding and appreciation for what God chose to do for me (and you) because of His love. You MUST read this book!

Summary: Another Great one By Max Lucado!!
Review: I will have to say this is one of the best books that I have read by Max Lucado! His use of what at first glance seems to be ordinary things associated with the death of Jesus Christ makes you realize just how important each one of those parts played.

He uses the nail, the crown of thorns, the clothes that were taken from Jesus, the clothes that were put on him, the two other crosses beside him, and even the soldiers spit to explain the many things that had to happen to bring us salvation. Max explains this in such great detail that you feel like you were actually present.

Every Christian needs to read this book. We all know that Jesus suffered on Calvary but you will finish this book with a newfound appreciation for what our Heavenly Father went through just to win our hearts! Run, don't walk and buy your copy today. You won't be sorry!

Summary: What God Did to Win Your Heart
Review: Lucado takes the reader to the foot of the Cross to see for ourselves what God did to win our hearts. God's promises of the ancient prophecy are revealed in the tools of torture and shame. Every instrument was a gift of love and redemption. Could you do what He did in your place to ransom you from Sin and Death? If we all stood in a line waiting for our time to linger in sacrifice for the atonement could you do it? Imagine what it would be like to have nails driven in your hands with 6-inch spikes and feel scratching and stabbing of thorns on your brow. Instead God sent His Son Jesus to die in your place. That's why 'He Chose the Nails.' No other god would come from Heaven to redeem the lost, like Jesus did. To let you know He Loved you. Jesus sacrified His Life and shed His blood as a Sin Offering-Pure, Sinless and Full of Grace. For our sake He was made Sin, who knew no Sin. So that in Him we might become the righteousness of God [2 Corithians 5: 21].

Lucado examines each tool of torture to tell that beautiful, loving story of atonement and redemption. He invites you to listen to each one tell you what God did to win your heart. When the soldiers spat on Him, He bore your dark side of sin. By the gifts from the Crown of Thorns, the Nails, between the two crosses He beared His own Cross that He become one of us, he forgave, he gave you a choice for freedom and He promised to Love you Forever. The greatest Love He gave was demonstrated on the Cross. As it was written on Romans 5: 8...that God demonstrated His Love for us in this, while we were sinners. Christ died for us. We couldn't do what He did alone. Only He could do it for us. The price of sin was paid-in-full. What we all can offer is our lives to Him, and leave our troubles and sorrows at the foot of the Cross. All the tools of torture were His gift to you. From the Trial and Mockery to the Cross of His Broken Body of Torn Flesh and Blood. The day of Victory-the Empty Tomb. He gave us Freedom and Life Forever More. Max Lucado has created an audio CD version of this LIVE 'He Chose the Nails' performance. It includes names of popular, Dove award artists on one CD. Maybe you caught the LIVE TV performance on TBN at Easter 2003 this comes from the TV version. You got to hear it for yourself to be convinced that Jesus gave you His Heart.

Summary: He Chose The Nails
Review: Lucado's in depth understanding and deep insight has amaized me AGAIN!!I have read literally hundreds of books over many years, and no book I read went into the detailed, clear, explanation of what was accomplished by Christ's death for mankind.I believe any Pastor, teacher, or student, would benefit in SOME way. An exceptional book.

Summary: Always the best!
Review: Max has done it again. Portrayed Jesus and His love in a real and moving way. Why did Jesus suffer? All that was required was a sacrifice of death--blood. Yet Max explores each detail of Christ's death and brings fresh and new appreciation for the Jesus who loves us so. Max is so uplifting and encouraging to read because many times, it's easy to fall into a legalistic way of thinking and judging others and even ourselves. Max helps put us back on track by reminding us it's all about His love. A recommendation to ANYONE. Enjoy!

Summary: Gentle and effective
Review: Max Lucado carefully disects the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, disclosing the significance of thirteen specific elements of the event. Lucado's message of salvation through the blood of Christ is not new, but his perspective is. Nothing is overlooked, including the spit of the Roman soldiers who led Christ to his death.

Nothing deep about Lucado's theology. He offers the basics. However, this is a soothing book, a book of healing, not of condemnation or judgment. The peace and love of Christ are found paradoxically through the pain and sorrow of the cross. This isn't a book to leave you burdened with guilt. Those seeking spiritual answers and growth will find a message of hope and possibility.
