Rating: Summary: Very nice but there has to be better... Review: 1. You cannot copy and paste from the Zondervan Bible. 2. If you perform a word search and it finds a match, there is no way to know where in the Bible you are without paging backwards to the beginning of the chapter - Major flaw.Until Zondervan fixes these problems, look elsewhere. God Bless You!
Rating: Summary: Same problems Review: After the problems of navigating in it are mastered, the reader of this Bible will find the same old problems of credibility that exist in any of the other Bible translations or formats: the talking snake, the sun and stars created after the earth, the sun placed in the sky after fruit trees are on the earth, woman created after man, rainbows not occurring until after Noah's flood, sticks turned into serpents, a woman turned into a pillar of salt, little children killed on God's orders because they are unlucky enough to have the wrong parents, and so on. I'm still waiting for the Bible translation honest enough to begin in this sort of way: "WARNING: Literal belief in these stories may be hazardous to your health. Bear in mind that they were written by primitive and superstitious Bedoin sheepherders, ignorant by today's standards."
Rating: Summary: Beware, must have Pocket PC 2002 Review: Being new to all of this, I did not realize I didn't have the 2002 version of the operating system and purchased this. It is not compatible, and I am not able to use it on my HP Jornada 547 Pocket PC. I suspect the program is well worth more than 1 star, but as I can't use it, it doesn't help me much. Be aware that downloaded programs can not be returned, and you won't have much of a recourse, except maybe dispute the issue with your credit card company. I'd better go read the forgiveness verses of my "hard copy" version of the Bible, so that God can fix my heart... :-)

Rating: Summary: Holy Bible NIV Review: I found this download great to have on my Ipaq, although there are a couple of limitations. You cannot copy the text and insert it into a word document which is something that would be handy to do when you are taking notes at church or at a conference. You can however highlight text an dplace bookmarks etc which is great. The other problem I had is that I had a lot of trouble sync'ing the bible with my computer - because it is networked and because of the firewall - and then somehow it got deleted from my ipaq and I couldn't load it again - that was very frustrating because I have to buy it again! Something to watch for. I have only tried the demo versions of Laridian and it seems to have a lot more features - maybe this is worth a go.
Rating: Summary: what a mess Review: I had to first download microsoft reader... finally figured out that I didn't "activate" it yet. Then, I can't get the darn thing to open correctly and am having trouble figuring out how to contact Amazon about help with this product. If somebody is there and can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Rating: Summary: Navigation problems? I don't think so. Review: I hardily disagree with other reviews about problems with navigating this Bible. If you want a specific verse, go to the drop-down menu at the top, select table of contents, choose the book you want, and after the book loads choose the chapter you want. From here there is some scrolling (which my PPC, a Toshiba e355, has a nice button for), but you will reach your specific verse very quickly. I know the process sounds long but I can find most verses within 10 seconds, which is faster than my average time using a traditional Bible. One complaint I do have is the way that Microsoft reader loads the text. I don't know about anyone else but it takes my PPC forever to load the entire Bible into memory. Even after this initial loading, navigating Psalms in particular is difficult because of the book's massiveness. Finding a verse in Psalms takes about one minute because of loading time for my 300 mhz PPC when alloted 32 mb RAM. It also seems that they messed up the picture format for the Hebrew symbols in Psalms 119, but this is a minor issue. BTW, I think this is hardly the place to discuss the validity of the Bible. This is obviously different than reviewing a Stephen King novel. It takes years of personal research to discover what the Bible has to offer as well as a practice of some of its lessons to verify its validity, not a quick-stop at an atheist web site ranting about technicallities or a superficial glance through specific books. If you are truly a Biblical scholar (someone who investigates the original Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew texts to verify conclusions) and are still skeptical, then I say you have room to talk; otherwise, I think you're jumping on a band-wagon that supports your personal beliefs.
Rating: Summary: Great for reading through the Bible, not for verse-by-verse Review: I just downloaded and partly agree with the previous reviewers about this Bible. It's incredibly handy to have the entire Bible with you whereever you go, and I find it easy to read the bible in bed while my wife sleeps, since the PDA is backlit. I wouldn't even try it though in church or somewhere where there might be a lot of flipping around. Microsoft Reader was never meant for applications like that. The old fashioned paper bibles still have some years left. Overall, consider this only a supplement to your main bible, but a very nice addition to your PDA.
Rating: Summary: Can't open in Pocket PC's MS Reader Review: I properly activated Microsoft Reader but I could not open this book. I received a message that said "Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access the book." I wrote an email to technical support and I hope that I can get a refund if I do not get an answer or can't use what I purchased.
