Rating: Summary: where has the goddess gone? Review: my favorite book by m.williamson is a woman's worth. it was my first lesson in self acceptance and confidence after a childhood that held painful memories of abuse. everyday grace is the second book that i have read by williamson and it is written about a decade later. m. williamson has grown and matured in her spiritual knowledge. this book encouraged me to bring love back into various situations throughout the day, and it is beautifully and simply written. however, i was disappointed to see that her writing seems to have watered down to fit mainstream america. references to the goddess are no longer included, and the book is written according to the lifestyle of the average american. i no longer live in the usa so i couldn't quite relate to the "in our lives after 9-11, we're all in this together..." america theme. i read it once, found it special, but don't feel quite compelled to read it again.
Rating: Summary: What a great book! It really helped me. Review: No one, absolutely no one, can inspire me like Marianne Williamson. In today's world, with all the terrifying, depressing news that haunts us every single day, it's quite a challenge to feel that there is something we can actually do about it. The minute I picked up this book, I began to feel hopeful again. Everyday Grace is so important because it actually gives us the tools to help us shift from feeling so negative and helpless, to creating the experience of the miraculous in our lives. No mean feat for these troubled times. I don't know of anybody that can provide this kind of insight and inspiration the way Marianne Williamson does. This is the perfect Christmas present. I can't think of a better gift at this particular time. I heard Oprah say that on her show, and, after reading this book, I see what she means.
Rating: Summary: really really BAD BOOK Review: The Everyday Grace is written help you come back to your spiritual source, exploring ways in which we can nurture our soul. On page 4 she tells of her journey in magic, philosophy, astrology, tarot, the I Ching, she looked into Christianity, Judaism and more.As you read this book, you will see that she mixes ideas/beliefs she found in magic, philosophy, astrology, tarot, the I Ching, Christianity, Judaism, course of miracles... Now the question is this, are you OK with this book feeding you with nonsense she build up from her experience in different religions? This would be like a cake that has meat, sweets, vegetables, fruits, and dirt all in one. Bottom line: Occasional good thought does not make this a good book when it contains spiritual poison.
Rating: Summary: practical advice for a changes world Review: This book has forgiveness and compassion for ourselves and others as it's core
Rating: Summary: Growth is challenging Review: This book is like a guide to putting the principles discueed in her first book "A Return to Love" into practical everyday life. The challenge of growth is to remind us that everything that is REAL is GOOD. Williamson reminds us that everything that is not grounded in love is an illusion, which we believe is real. The challenge is to remember what is real (love) in situations that push our buttons and entice us to focus on judgements and what the situation lacks. It is that focuse on what is real, that casts out the illusion and IS the miracle. In response, human suffering is not real. It only has so much power because we collectively focus on lack, rather than the abunance that already exist in the world and a fairer distribution of it. This book reminds us in literary form what life reminds us of everyday, that love and its healing power is what we live for.
Rating: Summary: Delightful book Review: This book teaches how to change the world by dealing with the little things in life from a spiritually enlightened perspective. You may not be able to change the world today, but you can change your personal world and the personal world of those around you right now. Instead of snarling at the nasty checkout person you can instead give them a smile. Instead of thinking of them as this or that, why not see them as beautiful souls who need love and prayer? The result will be inner peace, and in the long run, world peace. This book and Taro Gold's new book of wisdom "Open Your Mind, Open Your Life" went out to all the folks on my Holiday list! Excellent.

Rating: Summary: Marianne has struck "THE" chord Review: This is a book that awakens people to things of life they know and did not know and Marianne does so with intense enlightening ability. These things are in us, and are very real which cause both concern and uplifting. Concern since there are solutions offered, this is a book that allows you to make decisions and move on them. This is one ot those books that strikes that place in you which you know to be absolutely on target. To move further on with this same direction I suggest reading SB or God by Maddox, a very good compliment to this book.
Rating: Summary: It's time for Marianne to stop Review: Two pages in I realized that Ms. Williamson must have a book deal to fulfill. Her latest is trite, repetitive, and self-indulgent. It reeks of claustrophobic melancholy -- of being trapped in a small room with someone who has long since run out of anything meaningful to communicate. It's message is basic Zen: be still. That's it. Over and over again... I'm sure her "followers" will snap this up and strain to find the gospel within it; others would be well advised to borrow it from the library.
Rating: Summary: Inspiration for riding the roller coaster of life! Review: Williamson is very powerful in creating ways to become closer to God. Her themes of forgiveness, miracles, and hope give us the sustanence we need to carry us through the pain life can give us. She gives us beautiful prose with which we can pray and meditate. She tells us to carve out time to be spiritual just like we take time to excercise, eat, and sleep. Prayer is our spiritual food. With prayer and meditation Marianne gives us the food to grow and nurture our souls. Thank God for Marianne. Read more of her books. She opens our eyes to miracles and growth.
