Summary: Patience, the key to success in life.
Review: "Lady in Waiting," a remarkable book with powerful insights will touch every woman's heart. Debby Jones and Jackie Kendall created a masterpiece that focuses on putting God first in one's life. "Lady in Waiting," designed for any age, accurately examines problems and concerns women in today's society face. Every woman rushes to get things done as quickly as possible. With "Lady in Waiting" one learns how to slow down, wait for God to answer prayers, and in return, be rewarded with a sense of pride. Patience, the most difficult quality to develop and apply in the fast-pace world of today, seems to be the primary focus of Jones and Kendall's book as well as lives. The authors reveal that when women have patience when dealing with challenges in life; they get more accomplished. It captivates women moving them to their inner cores. The strong Christian values and beliefs are evident throughout the book as the women praise and glorify God. The authors wrote "Lady in Waiting" from a second person point of view. The point of view, containing many rhetorical questions, makes women stop and realize their priorities in life. Many spiritual books have been written which also agree that patience, the key to life's happpiness, must be found in every relationship. "Lady in Waiting" stands out from other similar novels, however, due to the authors' decision to direct the book primarily to women. Although men and women are completely different in expressing emotion, every woman faces the same emotional drama in life. "Lady in Waiting" has influenced a variety of people including pastors, youth leaders, single and married women, high school and college women, and career women. The amazing impact of this magnificent book will last forever in a woman's heart. As Jones and Kendall honestly and accurately evaluate the struggles women face in the 90's; they soothe the soul with God's miraculous word. The Bible-the women's only source of data-displays biblical truths. Although the women only use one key source, the Bible, and many quote, thoughts, stories, and inserts of other women; the book helps develop the reader into an independent, secure woman of God. The authors answer all of women's typical questions and concerns about issues such as, reckless abondonment, diligence, faith, virtue, devotion, purity, security, contentment, conviction, and most importantly, patience. The authors style of simplicity and the profound literary tactic of emotionally involving the reader, are incredible. The wonderfully written passages of elegance leave no room for argument, as they accurately secure women in the awesome power of God. The authors creatively wrote the book clearly in order to influence all women. Personally, I agree with Jones and Kendall about the importance of remebering God is the only one who can give us total security. Women depend on husbands and fathers as their strong-hold in life, but the only one who is always there for us to be our true strength is God. I have strong beliefs and morals in life as I walk with God daily. The influence of the authors values persuade me to stay true to myself and not waver in my beliefs, but influence others as I have been influenced. "Lady in Waiting" is definitely the best book I have ever read. The authors' extraordinary book actually had the strength to emotionally move me and make me feel replenished after reading this delightful book. I feel I have learned more about the wonders of God and His plan for me in developing my love relationships. I highly recommend this wonderous book to all women who want to find God's perspective on life.

Summary: what a 14-year-old thinks
Review: A friend gave me this book as a gift, as she continued to watch me struggle bouncing from relationship to relationship and freely giving myself when I shouldn't. This small 181 page book, allowed me to search into my soul & find what God was looking for: the true me...a Lady in Waiting.
It's been five years since I was given this book, and I am now happily married and I have found my prince in shining armor. I gave my alabaster box to the Lord and he gave me the gift of true love. Praise God!

This is a MUST read for all young women!!

Summary: Well done!
Review: A good book for single women of any age. I read it when I was 19 and still find it applicable today. For any woman feeling down that there is no man in her life, and most women can admit to that without shame, these words are refreshing and uplifting. They highlight the joys of singleness--yes there are joys! This book helped me realize that, as well as reclaim my independence and my value as a single women. There are few things God can use as much as a willing, single woman. Read it!

Summary: Good for teens and early 20s - a little much for older women
Review: A lot of what was brought out, I have heard in the past. So, as a teenager or early 20s when you haven't heard a lot of the "single" talks, you will get a lot of insight from this book. It also helps to let you know that you can have a full life even as a single woman. Good Bible base, but several of the Ruth examples used, I felt were a little far fetched.

Summary: God used this book to speak to me.
Review: After a tough break up with my boyfriend a friend told me to read this book. I avoided it like the plaige because I was scared that God would convict me. After I became even more broken to God I began to read this book. It was a very slow process but as I read each chapter God revealed so much to me and changed my heart. I regret that I didn't read this book earlier because it may have prevented me some pain. Lady in Waiting helped me evaluate my walk with God and renew my relationship with Him. It also helped me evaluate my standards and realize the importance of guarding your heart. I also really valued the chapter that talked about moving on in life and not planning my future around 'Mr. Right', but giving every part of my life to Christ, EVEN my dating and love life! The verse that is the emphasis of the book is, Psalm 27:14. This verse has helped me so much, I made a bunch of posters with this verse on it and have posted them around my room to encourage me to ". . . be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

Summary: Well done!
Review: After one major concern, the title, as to whether or not this would be an appropriate book for our Singles Sunday School Class we decided that it would apply to both male and female. My favorite chapter so far is "Lady of Reckles Abandonment". I must confess that for a couple of days I was stuck on the section titled The Secret of the Alabaster Box. I never knew that the purpose of this box was to be broken at the feet of one's future husband.
I now realize that in order for me to truly enjoy my singleness I have to store everything in my Alabaster Box and then break it at my future husband's feet (my Lord). During this part of the lesson, our teacher brought in jewelry boxes and each student received one. I have my concerns, financial situation, dreams, desires, addictions, problems, spiritual failures, everything that I have I have written down separately on paper and stored in my Alabaster Box to my Lord.
I have learnt that when I do this I have to leave it with the Lord and not try to help Him because He does not need my help. He is very capable of doing more that I ask of Him. He is after all the "only One who can make a woman's dreams come true" (p15).
Enjoy every last word that is written in this book.

Summary: This book is excellent for both single and married women.
Review: Debby Jones really gives some great suggestions on how to focus more on your relationship with God than focusing on dating or lack thereof. She points out that as single women, we have more time to serve God and we should use that time wisely. I would recommend this book to any woman interested in focusing her life more on God. This is an excellent book for small Bible study classes!
