Rating: Summary: The most enlightening book I have ever read Review: I would not normally even read much less write a review on a self-help style book...but then I would not normally have been able to win back my ex-wife and family either. This book was revolutionary, not just revelationary.Read it, believe in the underlying biblically-based principles outlined in it, and then live by it, and you may actually be able to restore your relationship as well.
Rating: Summary: Wow! There is HOPE The Christian Community! Review: In a world where Christians are divorcing at the same rate as non Christians, this book brings hope!!! It saved our marriage and I feel like it's the only hope that is out there! THANK YOU Ken Nair!!!! To finally figure out to make things work! WOWOWOWO!
Rating: Summary: Wow! There is HOPE The Christian Community! Review: In short, Because man is a sinner, The Man in The Marriage is The Sinner, and The Woman is God's Gift The Man to straighten him out. This is *not* the lesson of Scripture, for *all* have sinned.
The Christlike love that Ken says that the husband needs to show bears little resemblence to the real love that Christ demonstrates to the Church. It's like comparing skim milk to a full steak dinner.
Christ's love is free to all, but is also costly and demanding of those who accept it. I think Ken misses this.
Go read "Love and Respect" by Dr. Eggrichs instead.
Rating: Summary: I CHALLENGE ANY REAL MAN TO READ THIS BOOK COVER TO COVER. Review: IT TAKES AWAY ALL OF A MAN'S CRUTCHES AND MAKES HIM REALLY OPEN HIS EYES, WHEN HE LOOKS INTO THE MIRROR. I OFTEN AT TIMES, FIND MYSELF BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND RECALL THAT I HAVE TO DO THE SAME. I HAVE GAINED A BETTER INSIGHT, IN WHAT IT TAKES TO BE CHRIST LIKE: AS A HUSBAND; A FATHER; AND ULTIMATELY WHAT REAL AGAPE LOVE IS. THIS IS A DEFINITE BOOK TO ADD TO YOUR LIBRARY.
Rating: Summary: God has put this book into my life for a purpose! Review: Like most men, I was clueless about how I was negatively affecting my wife through our 18 years of marriage. That is, until my wife literally crumbled in front of me and asked for a separation! A friend suggested I read this book, and it has revolutionized my thinking about a whole lot of things. First, Ken Nair explains in clear and compassionate (non-confrontational) terms how it is our responsibility as Christian men to care and nuture our wifes as God intended--and demonstrated to us through Jesus Christ in His own relationship with the Church. Second, Ken goes on to illustrate examples from his counceling background and it provides real hope for us men that God can work us through these difficult times if we stop, listen, and obey the Biblical underpinning of his book. Finally, I have never found a book so easy to read, so personally challenging, so interactive, and so encouraging. I am re-reading the book to let it soak in some more! I know that if you struggle with intimacy issues (and I do not mean sexual intimacy) you must read this book and examine yourself before God. Ken leads the way, and his example in this book is so clear that it can guide any man into a postive, nuturing, and more fulfilling relationship with his wife. I can't say I'm out of the woods yet, and I can only pray that God will continue to bring healing and restoration to my relationship with my wife (and I would covet your prayers on this), but I can't imagine where I would be right now if it had not been for this book. Very, very highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Major Disappointment Review: See my review under "Discovering the Heart of a Man", which is actually a review of these two books when taken together. In short, Because man is a sinner, The Man in The Marriage is The Sinner, and The Woman is God's Gift The Man to straighten him out. This is *not* the lesson of Scripture, for *all* have sinned. The Christlike love that Ken says that the husband needs to show bears little resemblence to the real love that Christ demonstrates to the Church. His love is free to all, but is also costly and demanding of those who accept it. It's like comparing skim milk to a full steak dinner.
Rating: Summary: This book balances the score . . . Review: So many books from a Christian perspective which tell wives to submit submit submit. Submission's a Bible concept all right, and so is the command to "love your wife as Christ loved the Church." At last here is a book which encourages men to learn to really know their wives and be unselfish in their love for them.
Rating: Summary: The five star reviews are stacked - this book is garbage Review: The author assumes that all men believe women are inferior and abuse their wives. The author says that woman do not have any sex drive and repeatedly states that husbands must be "Christ like" in their marriage. WTF? This book seems as though it was written in the 1800s by a religious fanatic. I bought this book to read on a trip but ended up throwing it the trash after skimming through it. There is nothing in this book worth reading. I trusted all the 5 star reviews thinking this would be a good book but it seems one person stacked the review by submitting multiple reviews. Someone with a sick sense of humor and I was fooled. I've never before attempted to read such a terrible book.
Rating: Summary: God wants you to be like His Son Review: This book came to me at a pivotal point in my marriage. I thank God for the timing of it. I was not ready before. After ruining our marriage for 17 years the Holy Spirit used this book to open my eyes to the unChristlike manner in which I had been treating my wife and children. "Husbands love your wife as Christ loved the Church". We've all heard it. BUY THIS BOOK and you will find out how to do it.
Rating: Summary: A Challenge to Christian Men to Live and Love as Christ Review: This book challenges Christian men to stop blaming their wives for problems in the marriage relationship. Author Ken Nair shares on how his own marriage was affected when he made up his mind to begin treating his wife as Christ treats the Church. The ensuing death to his flesh brought about a better marriage than either he or his wife would ever have dreamed possible. He shares key principles on how to follow in Jesus' footsteps, and gives real-life examples to illustrate his points. If you are a married man who has been told that "Nobody understands a woman's mind, not even women," then this book will destroy your illusions and force you to face your responsibility to understand your wife's mind. The benefits of doing so will be well worth the effort.
