Rating: Summary: deep but easily understandable and very enlightening Review: Tozer describes our Lord without putting the usual human labels upon him. He defines GOD'S attributes without restrictions. This book has without a doubt brought me into a better understanding of who God is and also what his holiness is all about.
Rating: Summary: A fine work. Review: Tozer has here done a fine job of developing an understanding of who God is apart from His works, and he has done so without treading onto unknowable ground. His respect for the Blessed Trinity gives this book a wonderful flavor. His powerful way with words makes it quite enjoyable. His careful illustrations make it easily understandable. All in all, I don't know that I have ever read a finer work on Theology Proper (the study of who God is and what He is like apart from His works), though L.S. Chafer's Theology Proper in his Systematic Theolgy is also quite good (Chafer's is more scholarly, which could be seen as good or bad). I am not sure which is better, it has been a few years since I read Chafer's. This being said, the brief inclusion of Lordship Salvation in the chapter on the Soverignty of God (otherwise an excellent chapter) was extremely unfortunate. Those who know Tozer's other writings will not be surprised that he would include such a view in this work, nevertheless it is still disappointing. This is why I give it 4 instead of 5 stars. I can never give a work that teaches Lordship Salvation, no matter how brief a statement may be, 5 stars. I recommend this book. I suppose it would be difficult for anyone reading this work not to grow fond of both the author of this work and, more importantly, the Author of Life.
Rating: Summary: Such deep insight ! Review: Tozer has such an insight to the things of God. It's refreshing to read about the attributes of God,with such deep thought.I enjoyed every page of it.
Rating: Summary: helpful in ones worship life Review: Tozer lead my mind to a place where I examined the way I perceive God. The stressed point of this book is the importance of not coming to God and viewing Him as who we see Him to be, but coming to Him as He truly is; which is beyond our comprehension as finite beings. The prayers at the beginning of each chapter demonstrate Tozer's conviction about these aspects of God, which make the book all the more influential. This book has significantly changed the area of worship in my life in that I better understand who I am worshipping and why. If ever you cannot find a reason to worship, take a look at this book.

Rating: Summary: Ah the depths of the Holy! Review: Tozer so beautifully connected me with the nature of my God that I could not much get through a chapter with out tears. What a joy to be led into the presence of the Holy, shown who He is, and alowed to bow and worship.
Rating: Summary: How big is God? Review: Tozier accomplishes several big things in this "small" book. First, he lays out in simple words many of the attributes of God, in relation to scripture and in terms that our modern ears can tune in to. Secondly, and just as importantly, he shows how everything in our world depends on the complete trustworthiness of God. My favorite quote: "The trustworthiness of God is the foundation of scientific truth." Highly recommended, and will probably generate interest in other books he has written. (Try "In Pursuit of God")
