Rating: Summary: Excellent allegory of the believer's walk with God! Review: Hind's Feet On High Places is a wonderful, beautiful allegory of God's love for each one of us. Although we face many trials along the Christian life, Jesus is always there and will always hear and help us when we cry to Him. He is especially close to the broken-hearted. We can always come to our Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ, without any fear. Much-Afraid sought the Chief Shepherd early in the morning and late in the evening when her work was done. I believed she sang to Him all through the day too. This too, is our priviledge as children of God. I thank God for such an anointed writer as Hannah Hurnard. This is by far the most beautiful book that I've read. I will read and re-read this book for years to come. I have given it as a gift to friends. To all who long to live a life filled with nothing else but love for God, this is the book to read. And to all who feel that God has abandoned them and that there is no hope of reconciliation, this is the book that God will use to restore you. God bless you as you read it.
Rating: Summary: A must for all serious hikers up every spiritual mountain! Review: I am in the process of reading this book for the first time. It is so full of guidance I know I will have to read it again and again. Every chapter is full of wisdom for the reader to gain, and hopefully use in their journey with the Lord. This book will encourage anyone to make a definite decision to take the journey upward or settle in the valley.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful spiritual journey Review: I read Hinds Feet many times in the last15 years. It has blessed me and given the inspiration from the Holy Spirit I needed at the moment. I have read all of her other books and they equally have been timely. I take the occasion to share parts of the book in my teaching of others and recommend the books often. Give them as gifts.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book, a must read for all people........ Review: I read this book a while back. The Holy Spirit had me out searching for it and then ordering it along with the sequel. I am so pleased to have found this book again (as I shared it with many friends the first time). I would like to say that this book was such an inspiration to walk toward God and to develop his hind feet through his Love. I am so glad to share this book with my friends, husband, family and church family. Hannah, please do not let anything get in your way of writing...You are a Godsend........
Rating: Summary: simply.. A MUST read Review: Once I started reading this book, I was immediately propelled into a
different "world". It addresses the issue of "obstacles" encountered
while trying to attain your goals. The use of generic names such as,
Much Afraid creates a "person" we can all identify with. The reading
is smooth and never boring. It is one of those books that you will want to give loved ones, friends or even enemies.. I purchased
Mountain of Spices as well and it was just as invigorating, as it "took up" where Hind's Feet left off !!
Rating: Summary: Inspiring, Will Lift You Up Review: Another person who wrote a review said exactly what I felt after reading this book; other than the bible....this book touched the secret recesses of my heart more than any other book I've ever read. There are places in our hearts that hold things unspoken..feelings we have that cannot be put into words. As God and His word touches these places, so did this scripturally sound allegory about suffering, pain, fear, hope, yearning, and above all, the willingness to trust our Shepherd's leading at any cost. Much like the bible, which can be mined for treasure over and over, I believe this beautiful story is the same; I will treasure it forever and re-read it often.
Rating: Summary: Reply to Barbara McCormack Review: Much Afraid's physical deformities are allegorical as is her journey. Her crooked feet symbolize her inability to live a consistently holy life in her actions. Her crooked mouth symbolizes her inability to consistently speak truthfully and lovingly - fearful people often lie about inconsequential matters or not speak up when they ought to - and it may also imply the use of profanity.
Hope this helps.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, Flawed Performance Review: Hannah Hurnard's book has long held a special place in my heart. It's a sensitive parable of the life of faith, full of the Shepherd's love. Unfortunately, Flo Schmidt's narration trivializes the book. The reading is badly overacted, giving the parable the quality of a melodrama. The reader seems to believe that we won't figure out what to feel about the story unless the emotions are hammered into us.
My recommendation: find an audio performancy by a different narrator or stick with the print version.
Rating: Summary: If you liked Pilgrims Progress, you'll love this. Review: This is a great allegory! I loved the imagery in it, and how it chose to portray the savior throughout the book. Its very touching and well worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Problem with this book's message Review: I really am questioning the focus on physical beauty in this book. Everyone unkind is ugly and everyone strives to be kind/beautiful. I am hoping that this means inner beauty, but that is not pointed out anywhere. We are always told that what matters is inside ourselves, but I certainly couldn't tell from this book!
Can anyone respond to this? I have wondered about it for a long, long time. People seem to think this book is so wonderful, but I really would like input from others. Thanks!
