Rating: Summary: A Good Study Bible Review: The King James Study Bible is one of the best, study Bibles on the market today. It is based on the Authorised(King James) Version, a formal equivalence translation. Originally published as the Annotated Study Bible, it has large, bold, easy-to-read print, a definite asset. Fortunately, the myriads of archaic words are defined in the centre-column. The annotations are traditional and conservative, and explain the text very well. There are also doctrinal definitions(from a Baptist perspective)and character studies as well, plus in-text maps. The bad points are a poor-quality binding, which includes the bonded and genuine leather editions. It is a glue-bound product, and does not hold up well. The in-text maps are dark and a little hard to read/understand. All-in-all, I recommend this Study Bible to those who are wedded to the King James Version and who have a fundamental Baptist perspective.
Rating: Summary: A very reliable but difficult to understand Bible version Review: The King James Version (KJV) is probably the best-known version of the Bible. And it is truly an excellent translation. First off, it follows a "formal equivalence" (word-for-word) translation principle. IMO, this principle is much more accurate than the "dynamic equivalence" (thought for thought) principle that most modern-day versions follow. In addition, the KJV is based on the "Textus Receptus" (TR). And again, I consider this Greek text to be more reliable than the "Critical Text" (CT) that most modern versions utilize. Although, I actually prefer the "Majority Text" (MT) to the TR, but these two texts are very close, much closer to each other than either is to the CT. But it must be noted that the KJV is not the only version that follows a formal equivalence principle and is based on the TR. There are several other such versions, such as the New King James Version, Modern King James Version, and the Literal Translation of the Bible, while my own Analytical-Literal Translation is based on the MT. Moreover, each of these other versions utilize modern-day English and thus are relatively easy to read while the KJV's use of the Elizabethan English can make it very difficult to understand. Now I know there are many "KJV-onlyists" who consider the KJV to the only true Bible, while all other Bible versions are called "perversions." And their diatribes even attack versions like the ones I list above. But I have taken the time to investigate their arguments and have found them to be faulty. I present my counter-arguments to the KJV-onlyists' arguments in much detail in the section on "KJV-onlyism" in my book Differences Between Bible Versions, so I won't try to get into that discussion here. I'll simply encourage the reader to consider both sides of this argument before making a decision on it. All that said, if you can understand the KJV then by all means utilize. But if you find the KJV difficult to read, then before condescending to read a less reliable dynamic equivalence version, or worse, giving up on reading the Bible altogether, I would suggest checking out one of the versions I mention above. My Bible version book will provide aid in understanding the issues I address above and in choosing a Bible version. Along with looking at the versions mentioned above, my book also reviews over 25 other versions of the Bible.
Rating: Summary: MANY PEOPLE DIED TO BRING THIS BOOK TO YOU Review: The most famous Book in history. Also one of the most controversial. Today, some people are still making the ultimate sacrifice for this book. Millions of Christians all over the world love the Bible. No matter what denomination they belong to, and no matter what their individual beliefs, they have one thing in common: THEY BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE. I BELIEVE THE BIBLE, TOO. Read it, like I have, and you will find that it will influence your life for good. --George Stancliffe
Rating: Summary: The best evangelical/conservative study bible on the market Review: The Nelson KJV Study Bible is truly, in my opinion, the best evangelical/conservative study bible on the market today, and that's saying a lot because there are some good ones out there, like the Life Application Study Bible, the NIV study Bible, Scofields, Thompson, MacArthur, Nelson's NKJV Study Bible, and so on. But having used all these editions, and also enjoying them, I have found the KJV Study Bible to be the most direct and to the point. While other editions are often too much or too little, this one seems to find a good balance. The book introductions are complete, the outlines are extensive, the study notes are consistently adequate - that is, they are well thought out and cover entire passages rather than picking at a verse here and there, which I can't stand about most study bibles. Many individual verses are given separate treatment, however, in addition to the overall passage being explained. For example, each psalm is covered in its entirety rather than a verse here and there, while certain verses are also explained within the context of the psalm or overall Biblical themes. This is the pattern throughout. In addition, doctrinally difficult verses throughout the Bible are not avoided (like the Life Application Study Bible and some others), and there is an in-text study system of doctrines to accompany the notes (evangelical conservative, of course). This edition also has center column references that are extensive and contain difficult KJV word translations; plus you get listings of the miracles, parables, prophecies, the teachings of Christ, and yes, a decent concordance! I should add that the paper/ink quality is now very good in the new shipments that are arriving.
As for complaints about this edition, I only have three: First is that there is no self-pronouncing text or at least a reference in the back to proper names. After all, isn't a "study" Bible for the purpose of learning, and isn't pronunciation of all those Biblical names one of the things we must learn? Figure that one out. Secondly, the in-text maps are much to be desired. I don't know why Nelson didn't use their classic in-text maps that they use in every one of their other editions. And thirdly, it would be really nice if Nelson would include the historic epistle to King James in the front of the edition, like Zondervan has started doing. Other than these three complaints, this is still my favorite evangelical/conservative study bible. I would advise any Bible-loving, Bible-believing Christian and follower of Jesus Christ to get one and spend time with it, and you will soon appreciate its no-nonsense direct approach.
Rating: Summary: i am ashamed Review: There are logs in my eyes so big that no God can remove them. I'm sorry Lord. I am just a stupid fool. I am ashamed to be too weak to follow the path of Jesus, and I don't know what to do.I can not be like Jesus, no matter how hard I try. Someone please tell me what to do.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Reference/Study Bible for New Studiers Review: This bible has caught the eye of many christians starting to really want to get a deeper perspective of the King James Bible. This gives the believer an opportunity to really search and find answers that a regular King James bible can not give you. Being deployed and not having the opportunity to have a complete study library, this gives the satisfaction neeeded to any person who likes to get a deeper insight without all the books until they can return back to their reference library. Truly this bible is an inspiration to those who read it!
Rating: Summary: The greatest book involving the holy trio Review: This book is so tight. I've only read part of it but I think it is the best book ever written. You should read it and be influenced by Jesus Christ's word and preachings.
Rating: Summary: My number one study Bible Review: This is the first Bible I go to for research. It's the KJV, which is the Greatest Poetic Translation of the original Scriptures. The comentary is very helpful, although I don't agree with it some it. I suggest this Bible for new Christians and for veterans. It can truly help you move from the "MILK" to the "MEAT". I also recommend a Strongs Concordance and a NAVES Topical Bible to better understand the Word of God. Let's not forget the most important resource needed......the "Holy Spirit".

Rating: Summary: The most comprehensive study Bible available! Review: This study Bible has it all. The doctrinal footnotes, personality profiles and annotations are theologically and doctrinally sound. The maps, cross references, inter-testament info, harmony of the gospels, AND the word studies (just to name a few) are in depth enough to help a broad range of people looking for knowledge from Gods' word. I have used the Scofield, Ryrie, and the Key Word study Bibles and this one is all of those in one! This is hands down the best study Bible available! Get one today, you won't regret it.
