Rating: Summary: A clearer understanding of life! Review: I first read this book while i was in college in San Francisco a few years back. I was young and confused about life and what i wanted out of it. I recently traveled to Lebanon and visited the Khalil Gibran Museum, it was a magical experience. Khalil Gibran is not just an amazing writer, he's magnificant painter. Reading "The Prophet" uncovered much confusion in my life and impacted me in a way that has made me a successful person today in all aspects of life. I give this book to beloved family and friends because it's a very special part of me that i want them to have. Remarkable!!!
Rating: Summary: the best book i have ever read.. Review: u cant give a better gift to someone u care for..
Rating: Summary: A book that can be read and reread for spiritual renewal. Review: This incredible book was originally given to me as a present when I was thirteen years old. It was immediately relegated to the status of a "Boring Gift", and placed on my bookshelves to gather dust. Many years later, as I was discovering my own spirituality, I opened the book and began to read. I couldn't put it down then, and have picked it up many times since then to reread passages that were pertinent to my life at the time. The words that Mr. Gibran gave us speak to so many aspects of our lives using non-judgmental, inspiring messages. I highly recommend it as a wonderful gift, not only for others, but for yourself. It's a book that you will read and reread, and will learn new things every time.
Rating: Summary: have to agree with everyone who comments re: Victoria, BC Review: whoever that person is obviously doesn't get it, and won't. whoever thinks they can use many big words and try to come off as intelligent(in re: this book), are not "all that" (to coin a current phrase); however, it just conveys the depth of their being, which is nil. anyone who cannot by moved by his touched by his insight obviously doesn't have any.....just my meager opinion.
Rating: Summary: thought provoking and touching Review: I read the prophet when I was about 13 years old. Being a teen was (and is) a difficult time, but this book gave me insight, ideas, and a sense of peace at a very difficult period in my life. It provided me with information, inspiration, and a spiritual feeling that church, sports, academia, and other endeavors could not. I have given a copy of the book to every woman I have been involved with in my adult life...
Rating: Summary: My favorite book of all!!! Review: The Prophet is absolutely the best book I have ever read. It is so touching and spirit filled. I recommend The Prophet to just about everyone who touches my heart. I'm always disappointed with readers who gather anything less than spiritual enrichment from Kahlil Gibran's translations. The Prophet reads like a beautiful song. I love it.
Rating: Summary: This book is my bible Review: Every poem in this book is a thing of beauty. It's the only book I ever wanted to memorize word for word. It is my bible. I give this book as a gift to all those enlightened and close to me.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever Review: The Prophet is the best book I have ever read. You have missed something in life if you haven't read it. It's simply divine.I am bothered by a review written by "a reader from Victoria, BC" that appears in this column. He or she must be the most illiterate and thick-headed person that ever read a book in any form. This person does not deserve to read a book like The Prophet.
