Review: More people have been driven away from Christ by "religeous" people than by all the atheists, agnostics and academics put together. I worry about children who grow up in a spiritual environment which preaches "fundamentalism" or "literalism." How can they maintain a dynamic faith when they live and learn more about the world, people, or the Bible than what is taught in children's Sunday school? Emmet Fox unlocks significant spiritual meaning to the Sermon on the Mount and to Christianity. For me, he revitalized what had become almost trite and mindless. His book has given me new enthusiasm for Jesus Christ and the meaning of his existence. Moreover, I find deep personal applications in the "Truth" he helps to explain. This is a must read for thinking people, especially those whose faith, knowledge and/or needs have outgrown simple interpretations of the scriptures.

Review: OF COURSE THE FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIANS WILL DENOUNCE THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT IS ONE FOR THE THINKING MAN OR WOMAN AND IT SEEMS THAT THINKING IS AN ART THAT THE 'BIBLE THUMPERS' WOULD DECRY BECAUSE THE BEDROCK OF THEIR RHETORIC IS ROOTED IN PURE EMOTION. IN THIS FINE BOOK, EMMET FOX APPEALS NOT TO THE EMOTION, BUT TO THE INHERENT PART OF US THAT LONGS TO DEMONSTRATE OUR ONENESS WITH GOD. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A RELIGIOUS BOOK, RATHER IT IS A SPIRITUAL ONE. READING THE WORDS IN THIS BOOK WILL AWAKEN YOU AT THE DEEPEST LEVEL-YOUR CHRIST SELF. EMMET FOX TEACHES THE TRUTHS OF GOD, RATHER THAN THE MAN-MADE ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT GOD. GOD IS NOT THE ANGRY AUTOCRAT SOME NARROW DOGMATISTS WOULD HAVE HIM BE, HE IS THE LIGHT BY WHICH WE LIVE AND THE LOVE THAT WE ARE FOR ALL ETERNITY. OUR GOAL AS INHABITANTS OF EARTH IS TO LEARN THE LESSONS THAT OUR TIME HERE AFFORDS US. EMMET FOX SHOWS US WAYS THAT WE CAN DO THIS AND BE AT TOTAL PEACE INSIDE. IF THE TRADITIONAL RELIGIONISTS HAVE TURNED YOU OFF AND YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR TRUTH, YOU HAVE FOUND IT IN THIS SPLENDID VOLUME.

Review: Previously agnostic, Emmett Fox gave me a Jesus Christ that I could believe in and understand. My thoughts and emotions could not argue with his straightforward approach. This book is fantastic for people in 12-step recovery programs because the 12 steps are based on some of Emmett's teachings.

Summary: Just another way of giving man credit for The Lord's Works.
Review: The book was actually a very insightful book that brought me to a greater understanding of how to eliminate the sinful resolution of my motives. I am 20 years old, and found this book to be helpful, however Fox seems to attribute such insight to Science, rather than to the Lord. He constantly alludes to 'scientific prayer' as being the solution... as if God was not complete without man. It is the other way around.

Summary: Bizarre Christian-Science like interpretation of the gospels
Review: The point of the this book is that through proper prayer you can achieve anything, even healing miracles. It is basically a recipe to control your environment. Although there are truths in here, its message is very non-Traditional Christian in my opinion (for example Fox explicity espouses the principle of Karma), and almost completely contrary to AA's program where you are taught surrender to too seek God's will. In this book God's will is given only lip service--Fox says to pray for specific things that you want so you will granted them. This is more of new age book than a Christian book

Review: The Sermon on the Mount finally gave me answers after 40 yrs of struggling with the question about "Life & all it's whys." I finally found some answers that made sense. And because Emmet Fox was the first person who ever made sense to me regarding spirituality that I have just about read everything he's ever written. You might just say his answers to some of my questions on Spirituality and the Human Race made me an Emmet Fox junkie. If you can't seem to get yourself through this book, he has a booklet every human on this planet should read, titled "The Seven Day Mental Diet." It takes 15 minutes to read and it will change your life forever if you can stick with it. All his books, pamplets, etc., are all stating the same thing as the bible in Isaiah 55:11. Through experience I have found that your words are your reality! Emmet Fox explains that in every one of his writings.

Review: The Sermon on the Mount is a fantastic book! It shows you that God is a great power in our lives, and it helps us to understand what value God brings when we accept him into our lives. I understood a great deal about myself after reading this book. I recommend this to anyone searching for some truth and getting a better understanding of higher powers.

Summary: Don't be deceived
Review: The title and cover-presentation of the book are catchy and thetopic is certainly one worth investigating. I bought it not knowingthat the author was the champion of Christian Science. Twenty-five pages into the book I began noticing how the author was advancing his own man-made theory of salvation - based on the life of Jesus. I pity the author; his lack of "child-like" faith in Jesus Christ; unwillingness to accept the grace of Jesus; and his need to invent theories to save himself. This is a misconstruing of the bible... This is NOT the gospel that Jesus taught. The book is in my garbage can.
