Rating: Summary: The Truth? Who knows besides God? Review: Although this book was very entertaining, it cannot be proved factual. The rapture is a highly debated topic among Christians. The truth is,until Christ has returned, we cannot tell what is going to happen. It is my belief that people won't come to Christ and stay in Him if their only motivation is not wanting to be "left behind". What kind of love is that? That is not what the Bible describes as a personal relationship with Christ. If you want to try to save someone, don't scare them, inspire them.
Rating: Summary: Left Behind Review: A must read book! for believers and non believers. Can't wait to read the whole series. Is a new world order right around the corner? It may not be as far fetched as you may think?
Rating: Summary: A religious Soap Opera Review: Whereas the Left Behind series holds one's attention from page to page like a good novel, much of it is similar to what we see in our daily TV soap operas less the sordid sexual experiences. The story switches from one set of characters and scenes to another and to some extend would portray a believable story. The problem is that one book continues into the next and one wonders what the final conclusion will look like. I am debating whether to spend the money for the other books as I have already read 8 of them. Perhaps I will luck out and find the rest of the books on a yard sale. Some have questioned the theological basis behind the Left Behind series, but it is yet another scenario. Every generation has had their theology regarding the end times and have pointed to different events as portraying the second coming of Christ. The theological basis of a "secret" rapture is not the view of the historical church; that view being developed sometime during the 19th Century by some theologians in their study of the end times. Who knows but God as to what the final events will truly be. For the Christians, this will be something to look forward to.
Rating: Summary: A Glimmer of Hope in a World of Fear Review: Authors Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins use mood effectively in Left Behind. Mood is a very important aspect of this story. Without the proper use of mood, the climax would not be as powerful as it is. Without the effective use of mood, the story would not be worth reading. Throughout the story, the general mood is fearful and uncertain. People do not know where to turn or even what has happened. People are afraid that they missed the coming of Christ and that they have been rejected and left for dead. But still there is a ray of light. Rayford Steele has come to know what has happened. So, through the fear and uncertainty, the mood hints toward hope. As the reader moves toward the end, the fear in the mood really begins to show itself. Rayford and Chloe Steele, Rayford's daughter, become fearful of Nicolae Carpathia. They believe he is secretly trying to take over the world. The mood is now starting to show confusion. Rayford, Chloe, and Cameron Williams, a.k.a. Buck, are not sure what exactly Carpathia is trying to do. They are not sure whether he is just a good businessman and people are putting him in positions of world power, or worse. The climax of the story is when Buck reveals that the true mood is fear. Buck is invited to a press conference with Carpathia. At the conference, Carpathia shoots a man and brain wipes everyone who saw it, making them believe that the man shot himself, thus revealing the true fear among those who suspected Carpathia to attempt to conquer the world. The ray of light lives on though. Rayford, Chloe, Buck, and Bruce Barnes, the minister at Rayford's church, have decide to create the Tribulation Force to try to keep Carpathia from becoming a world power. Thus the reader is left with a glimmer of hope, and the desire to start reading the next book in the series.
Rating: Summary: If you prefer to be a Christian dolt...read the series Review: I have been a Christian for 24 years. Like any other Christian I have gone through my phases of learning and growth. One of the most freeing experiences of my Christian life was when I realized that dispensationalism is hogwash. That is the theological basis for all of LaHaye's series. Personally I believe he is a sincere Christian man. I just think that on this subject he is sincerely wrong. LaHaye wrote another book called How To Read the Bible for Yourself. It is to be wished he'd done that in the area of eschatology. It is WAY past time for the church to stop offering up this bilge of people disappearing and planes crashing as a way to get the attention of sinners. The Bible speaks of graduating from being a milk drinker to a meat eater. The church is full of those (and dispensationalism has helped in this regard) who remain in the milk drinking nursery. They don't want to graduate to meat eating, and instead of being strong enough to give intelligent reasons for the hope that is in them they rely on end times science-fiction. It is not worthy of a Christian. If you ever want to grow up I suggest you steer clear of of this end times overdosing and learn how to divide the word of God like the Berean Christians did in the book of Acts. I have found that learning new things is not the difficulty. It is the tearing down of old established error that makes learning new things difficult. The Left Behind series is one of those things that will leave you with a lot more that will need to be torn down if you ever intend to be more than an anemic Christian. God deserves our best efforts to understand Him and how we should mirror His words in our lives. Left Behind is the sincere but wrong reflection of a viewpoint that is a liability and an embarrassment to the church. In this day and time of great troubles we don't need something that contributes to Christian uncertainty. The church is full of enough fables that cannot actually be found in Scripture. Use the mind God gave you for something besides a hat rack and read something useful...like your Bible.

Rating: Summary: Left Behind Review: I thought these books were very well written, non preachy and really opened the eyes of the reader. When I started one book, I couldn't put it down until I was done. I love the direction the books go in, and really make you think of where you are in your own christianity. A must read!
Rating: Summary: These books are great! Review: Being an avid reader I have found some Christian books really hard to get into. But these books have me completely hooked. Yes the people are all new Christians, but hello it is an end times book all the Christians should be new. The storylines are really good and most times I cannot seem to put the books down. I am now in book 5 of the 9. I love these books!
Rating: Summary: Revelation meets cartoon 007 Review: Secret agent, newly confessed Christians fight the powers of Lucifer! The authors should have included action illustrations so people will know what they are really reading: a comic book. I understand the authors are trying to keep foul language and violence to a minimum, but their lack of skill with this makes their characters trite and their scenes shallow. In addition, each successive book says so much less than the previous one, that I'm starting to worry that these good Christian men are profiteering. Come on, 8 books to tell this story!? I gave up at book 4. I found myself basically skimming the whole book. But these guys are laughing all the way to the bank.
