Summary: Okay for a quick read...
Review: I respect that the authors are trying to spread the word of God and bring people to Christianity before it's too late, but to me the most of the books seem a bit too simplistic. That's not always a bad thing of course, as one of the books can probably be finished over a weekend if you're looking for a quick read. My main problem with them besides the sometimes awkward writing are that a lot of points are skimmed over or the authors seem to cop-out on certain issues. It seems that they could have tied current political issues more realistically into the storyline, but they probably avoided this to keep from offending or alienating some of their readers. A lot of people have slammed the writing as being childish or worse, but I think this is done on purpose to make it accessible to a mass audience. I would have preferred something a little more in depth, but that might have turn a lot of people away from it. There's nothing *wrong* with the way it's written, it's just a matter of personal preference. Example: I love C.S Lewis, but others find his writing ponderous or confusing. So you may love the Left Behind series, or you may find it too watered down for your tastes, but even at that it's good for light reading.

Summary: Apocalyptic Vision at it's Ignorant Worst
Review: Folks, do you understand what it's like to be a Christian of reasonable intellect in America? Not only am I latently asked to dismiss any intelligent belief I might have about culture, economic theory, science, and global diplomacy, I'm expected to fill the void with the painfully banal brand of Pop Armageddonism pervasive in the "Left Behind" series. How absurd is this? The puppet regime that is the U.N. one day decides to take over the world and set up shop in(ahem)Iraq?? Don't get me wrong, I believe the Bible's warnings about the end times. I believe Christ will indeed arrive like a "thief in the night"; i.e. when the low-brow middle class theorists who buy into this garbage least expect it. Buyer beware.

Summary: Yuck
Review: Other reviewers have pointed out that the writing style of these books is atrocious. These books read as if they're written for morons or apes in the zoo - dumb characters with dumb names ("Buck Williams" and "Rayford Steele" duke it out with the evil "Nicolae Carpathia"), no character development, silly plot, etc. I suppose some people give this book higher marks because they think they "spread the Word," but can't we do better than that? I mean, c'mon people. Even Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan fiction is written better than this. Besides, consider this: most of the lunatics running today's dumbed-down "politically correct" colleges, the national media, and a good chunk of the government think that we're "Right-Wing" rebels bent on overthrowing the government. Do you think these books help? If you're going to throw controversial statements into the public square (for instance, asserting that Judaism is wrong about the Messiah, or that the Catholic Church is a defective power-structure), don't you think it should be done with intelligence and finesse so we don't get bashed with charges of being anti-semitic or anti-catholic? Confrontation is not a virtue. Too bad Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins think the Jack T. Chick approach is better.

Summary: Great book collection
Review: I love these books. I have read almost all of them and can not stop reading them. They have really helped me with my love of God and at times feel his strength and it scares me. I also get the fear of the Lord that I used to have when I was a child. He is almighty and all powerful. Anyone who doubts him should read these books. They remind us of the Bible revelation that may soon be near. After 9-11-01, we should all be looking for the future and the coming which for us could be today or tomorrow. I think these books are great and are very thought provoking.
Get them today and start your addiction. I guarantee you will not put them down until you are finished.
God Bless America and the people that live here.

Summary: It's a shame
Review: They've taken words of comfort from the Bible and turned it into a poorly written horror movie as they laugh all the way to the bank.

Summary: Bad, bad, bad
Review: This book is poorly written, with hollow characters and little imagination. I stopped reading half way through because I was so offended by the level of writing. And because of the general fear tactic used by the authors to convince the population that they should convert to Christianity immediately or be "Left Behind" to face Armageddon.

As a theologian I was indeed curious about this popular series. What I see is warped interpretation of the book of Revelation, and a sad attempt to capitalize on the public's fear of the unknown. While one camp may argue that the authors are trying to reach the masses with the Word, they are in fact only offering a fear inspired fast food interpretation and making a great deal of money in doing so. That anyone would buy into this kind of capitalistic theology or say that it is inspired is really sad.

There are many books that do a wonderful job of spreading the loving word of God. This is not one of them.

Summary: The Keyword is CONTENT - not reading level
Review: It isn't necessarily the style of writing that you take away but the content. I have often heard that reading the Book of Revelations can be either very uplifting or very depressing! I have found the Left Behind series (and I am only beginning Book Six)to be refreshingly positive at the same it is frank! The reading may be easy...but that only makes it easy for EVERYONE! And isn't God's message for everyone!

I must applaud the authors (who could have made it far more detailed, far more complex, or far more stylish)for considering all levels, all ages, all maturities who would/could be reading this.

It certainly seems the authors/writers had the masses in mind more than their egos! This is confirmed even more when you go to the Left Behind website and NOT see the books sold there. Obviously, they care about the book stores (Christian and secular) making their own profit, and that is to be commended.

SYNOPSIS: I have found this series to be perfect for someone who doesn't have a great deal of extra time to read. I have covered each of these books in three days time...and that's after I work an 18-hour day at my career!

Summary: Great!
Review: Hi,here's my review!

Ok,First of all,I'm NOT one of those people who give this book good reviews because I'm hooked on the series,I actually have something to say!

I will admit that I agree that these books may be easy to read, but that does not make the story less exiting!

This 4 book package contains these books:
1. Left behind- The Tale of the Earths Last Days.
2. Tribulation Force- The Continuing Drama of those Left Behind.
3. Nicolae- The Rise of the Anti-Christ...
4.Soul Harvest- The World takes sides...

In the first book,Left Behind, you start out with Captain Rayford Steele,And He had it pretty good,A wife, 2 kids, Nice House in the Chicago Suburbs... Then his wife started going to church and dragging him with her!Now She and their 12 year-old boy are totally into this Church thing, and Ray ford doesn't like it.He uses his job as an excuse and starts trying to date Flight Attendant Hattie Durham. That's when his life falls apart... In one instant Millions around the world Disapear,Leaving only their Clothes behind... Rayford has to get back home, he has know if his Family is safe, or not...

Another Character is 30 year-old Journalist Cameron "Buck" Williams, Who is one of the best reporters for the "Global Weekly." Buck is on his way to London, England when IT happens, Now He's stranded back in Chicago, With Nowhere to go,and no Answers.....

There are a bunch more key Characters, but I will only Mention One more, Nicolae Carpathia... Nicolae Is a young politician from Romainia, who's suddenly been getting a lot of attenion,By the end of book one he's litterlally got the entire UN at his feet... Oh, and there's one other thing, some people believe that he's the Anti-Christ...

Ok, That should kinda give you an idea what's going on in Book one,But I can't tell you what happen's in the next 3 books,or who's alive...

Well, I hope you liked my review, oh and by the way, I was 9 when I read the first book.

Hoped this helped you!

Summary: Leave it Behind
Review: This is a book that is written on a grade school level and is theologically unsound. I am amazed at the amount of educated Christians who believe this pap. What a waste of paper. Stick to C. S. Lewis.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Decent plot, poor writing
Review: Another reviewer wrote that these books were written for a 4th grade reading level, and I would have to agree with that. Then again most local newspapers are written for the same reading level. I've found left behind series enjoyable, but I don't think I would re-read any of these books again. The character development is weak and LaHaye seems to pad each book with lengthy retellings of what's gone before. LaHaye also seems to think that it is necessary to repeatedly re-establish character's personalities and motivations, like 30 times per character per book. Like if Dickens were to preface every appearance of Scrooge with, "Mr. Scrooge is an unpleasant curmudgeon."
