Rating: Summary: Be your own Interpreter Review: I checked this book out of our church library about four months ago and I can't let it go. I'm ordering my own copy now so I can check it back in. This book showed me how to comprehend and make sense of reading the Bible. I can't stop reading the Bible now that I know how to read it. There's so much good information in "How to Read the Bible for all its Worth" that you can't take it all in the first time. You must have your own copy for future reference.
Rating: Summary: This book has made me so excited to read the Bible! Review: I have just purchased ten copies of this book to give as gifts to friends in my Bible Study group. It has absolutely made a difference in my level of understanding of the Bible and its literary forms, the need for Biblical interpretation and the differences between translations. Now instead of eagerly awaiting a few minutes to read a magazine or surf the net, I can hardly wait for a few minutes to curl up with scripture! This book was an answer to a prayer for me. A word of caution: this book requires lots of thinking and interacting. This is not a quick read, but it is a profitable one.
Rating: Summary: Read and re-read Review: I have read and re-read this book. I have used it over and over. It is awesome and terribly important to engrave the contents in your head otherwise you may miss the incredible things the Bible has to offer.

Rating: Summary: Herman Who???? Review: I have used this book as a textbook for several years as a great source for teaching Hermeneutics. I did 13 week course covering the definitions and rules and then we went to the Epistles as a genre. The only complain that I received, consistantly was that the course should have been longer to cover the other genres, escpecially Acts. The only lacking part is the the book could have used several charts to show the connections and relationships between exergesis and hermeneutics. This is a must own; must read; must teach; must .....
Rating: Summary: Seminary Students, Serious Bible Readers - Buy this book! Review: I just read this book in my next-to-last term in seminary. I wish it had been assigned on the first day. It took years of seminary to learn one fourth of the contents in this book. Even after years of formal study and even more years of personal study and ministry, Fee and Stuart's book offered incredible insight into the all-important task of studying, understanding and interpreting scripture. And it's hardly just for those who undertake theological study, but for anyone who wants God's word to be more accessible. A must for all serious Bible readers.
Rating: Summary: Don't let the title fool you - it's deep Review: I was introduced to this book in my first seminary biblical exegesis class. My opening thought was "with its title this the book is going to be a joke." Boy was I wrong. First off, nothing by Gordan Fee is a joke. Second, this small book is one of the best sources on biblical interpretation in the world right now. Third, it is an easy to understand book, yet it does not skimp on the details of biblical exegesis. After my first time through "How to Read the Bible ..." I realized that this was a book that I could recommend to anyone wanting to know more about how to read the Bible and understand every word. The book is not condescending to scholars but is still understandable to those that do not have a theological background. I was a "title snob" and this book proved me wrong.
Rating: Summary: A Rookie Christian Speaks Review: I was lucky enough to be saved by Jesus Christ in April of 2000. One of my early goals is to begin Bible study, which I did, but my growth in knowledge of the word of God through the Bible didn't take off until I read this book. It is well written, has just enough examples from scripture to illustrate the author's points, and was very logically ordered. Well worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Help? Hardly. Review: I was required to read this book for my first year of Bible school and I did not get much out of it. There is a difference between books that are specifically written to HELP one interpret the Bible through suggestions, and books that TELL you how to interpret the Bible. I found this book left very little room for one to be able to make their own interpretation. It's merely an outlet for Fee/Stuart to portray the way "they" see things and to tell people they should see it the same way. Why Bible Colleges/Universities continue to use this book as required reading is beyond me.
