Review: This book does it. Of all the books covering this sad subject, this is the one to buy. It is at the same time sympathetic and stunningly firm. It is solidly biblical, giving credit to the Spirit for what seems to be an impossible victory. And yet, the authors are very clear on our responsibility. This is the crux of the matter - victory over sexual temptation isn't something you can earn by passively praying over; it can only be won with a strategic game plan along with the prayer. This book provides a practical, objective play book to follow which will ensure victory. Is it time to win this battle? Then buy this book.

Review: "Everyman's Battle" was everything and more than what I expected. As a local college pastor, who ministers daily to men, this resource has become extremely valuable. I recommend it for every college pastor and/or pastor who is confronted daily with men in the area of sexual sin. I came away from my reading with a fresh understanding of why men struggle with sexual sin and how to effectively help them combat the struggle and walk in freedom. The understanding has brought freedom and encouragement and has given me the tools needed to fight this spiritual war and lead a generation of men to purity.

Review: Guys you HAVE to get this. I am a recent college graduate, and I've had trouble for the past decade with the 12-letter m-word resulting from my lustful thinking and wandering eyes. Learn to train yourself in most effective ways to lose this horrible habit. If you feel the self-loathing, the tried-and-failed attempts to stop but feel addicted and almost overpowered by this habit, get this book. I was much in the same position, even being a Christian. You will receive awesome insight from stories of the 3-4 authors, including frank dicussions which you DO really NEED to hear. As Christians we must rid ourselves of every hint of sexual impurity, the book states and quotes from scripture, but it seems like such a huge battle that "I could never win." Yes you can, because I have been 'sober' for the longest time I can remember, and the strength to stop goes past weeks and weeks, not simmering down overnight like most of my other attempts. I was going at it from the wrong angle the whole time--GET THIS BOOK! It will challenge your lustful mind and through prayer and self conviction you CAN get over this--REALLY. It seems such a daunting task.. How could I possibly? I have such a huge history.. Trust me. It DOES work. Try it! Also! Do you have trouble sitting down to read a book? I can almost guarantee it will captivate you enough to read a lot in one sitting. I am completely NOT a book reader, and I finished in under a week. It is broken up into easy-to-read sections with sub-sections explaining aspects with short chapters so you won't get bored very easily. Review: I've just finished the book, EVERY MAN'S BATTLE, and I believe the authors really bring the issues out in the open, and deal with them displaying tremendous courage and valor. This book will convict you of things you thought perhaps were things you were getting away with, behind your wife's back. It has a gentle, but firm way of getting you to your own truth. If you're not treating your wife with supreme respect, honor and cherishing her as is commanded by The Lord, you need this book. It will show you how. It teaches you how to train yourself to avoid temptations by "starving the eyes" and gaining "victory in your heart". If you struggle with temptations at work, traveling on the road, driving in your car, looking at women joggers, women drivers or billboards, which are sexually alluring - or perhaps the most dangerous potential "villain" in today's society: The Internet -- you need this book! -- (Under control, the Internet is fine...just as a fire in one's fireplace...but, what happens when that fire in one's fireplace becomes uncontrollable? This book has changed my life, and I'm convinced it will change yours.

Review: This amazing book has a step by step battle plan like nothing you've ever read before. I've read many other books on this subject, but most of them deal with the reasons "why" sexual temptation is such a struggle. That is helpful to a certain extent, but this book is different. It is an ACTION book! It doesn't just talk about the "why," it gives you the "HOW!" Imagine not being overwhelmed by a barrage of mental images. Imagine becoming the person on the inside that you've been trying to portray on the outside. Imagine having no regrets and a new relationship between you and God. Imagine actually WINNING the battle. Only three weeks have passed since I read this book and my life is forever changed. I'm ordering 6 more copies for people I love, because this really is EVERY man's battle!

Summary: Finally, some practical help!
Review: After struggling with being sexually pure for many years, it was good to find a book that deals with this issue in a very practical and direct way. Arterburn and Stoeker show the biblical standard and then step by step show how to live up to it. I've read several other books that helped to point me in the right direction, but none that so clearly showed such a practical method of living up to God's standard. This book will help both married and single men to deal with pornography, TV and that cute receptionist with the low cut blouse. They will help you win the battle to control your eyes and your mind. Very easy to read.

Summary: "Every Man's Battle" is for both men and women.
Review: As a man, have you ever said in frustration, "I just can't get free of this sexual sin! Since I'm a man, I guess I'm just doomed to live this way." Or, if a woman, have you ever asked, "Why is it that my husband seems to think about sex so much more than I do?" Or, "If sex is so natural, why is it that I've been married 15 years and still have no real sexual intimacy with my husband?" Steven Arterburn and I have written this book to open the understanding of both men and women to their created differences, and how these differences impact their lives sexually. This book was written as a weapon against male sexual impurity. When I personally fought this battle, there were no books to be found on the topic. Even now, there are few books in the Christian arena on sexual impurity, and those that exist generally have little more than a single chapter devoted to "getting free". "Every Man's Battle" devotes at least 7 chapters to the practical details necessary for total and lasting victory. You've read enough books and heard enough sermons telling you to (1) admit your sin, (2) repent of your sin, and (3) pray. You've admitted, repented and prayed countless times, yet remained stuck in the same quagmire, just as I did. You need more. This book offers more. You see, sexual sin is not just a spiritual problem. It is a physical one as well, and the Bible confirms this by claiming that sexual sin is a sin against your own body. So, your battle must be fought on both a spiritual and physical level. Admitting, repenting and praying take care of the spiritual aspects of the battle, but do not fully address the intense warfare between the flesh and the spirit, nor the sexual habits rooted so deeply in your mind and flesh. "Every Man's Battle" approaches the problem on both levels, allowing freedom to come quickly. Women, you'll find this book shocking. Men are wired so differently sexually that you'll find it hard to believe. My own wife recently said, "Sometimes it still seems like this is all made up, like all you men have gotten together and decided that if you all stick to the same story, the women will have to believe you and will have to give you what you want. It is all so different from my experience that it seems like this must be some big conspiracy to fake us out." Well, it is not a conspiracy. It is true. The women's section includes many other honest comments from my wife and other women that help you process what you learn. While I didn't originally plan a women's section, early readers have been grateful. And, men have been so pleased with how the book describes the male "sexual wiring" that they are insisting that their wives read the book as well, hoping that the full understanding brings full intimacy for both of them. Men, Steve and I tell our stories of our own bondage in Chapter One, and spend the rest of the book sharing the details of our escape.
