Summary: not for me
Review: A good book, but for married men, not teens. I don't need to hear how great sex can be when I'm not supposed to have it. Plain and simple. Every Young Man's Battle is good though.

Summary: Are you an Everyman?
Review: Considering that over half of American marriages end in divorce, it is surprising that so many Christian men take sexual impurity so lightly. Maybe, like me, they think that if the physical part is under control, the mental and spiritual part can slide. I found out that this is not true; a marriage requires inner and not just outer devotion in order to run the way it should. "Every man's battle" primarily serves to remind men of the seriousness of sexual impurity, in action and in thought, and how a marriage can recover by taking determined action.

I recommend this book because in addition to clearly presenting the stark picture of subtle infidelity, and powerfully presenting a determined program of explicit fidelity, it contains a chapter on cherishing your wife (which transcends simply "not doing wrong"; it's a change of the heart in addition to a change in thoughts and behavior). This is the part that I struggle with the most, and the part that is the most essential for me to obey now. I hope that every man considers what these authors have to say, because every woman deserves better than to be anything but first in her husband's heart, mind, and life.

Summary: Don't make this Devistating Problem out to something its not
Review: I have had a problem with pornography for most of my life. Fooling myself by saying "I can quit whenever I want". I had tried every trick in the book to overcome it but I couldn't. I finally lost a job over it. Thats when I sought out help.

This book has helped me more than even going to a psychotherapist. I was amazed at how EVERY MAN suffers from sexual immorallity to some extent and how simple the solutions are (if you're serious).

For me I realized that sexual immorallity began with the eyes then the mind(sometimes the other way). Meaning if you're serious about quitting and you train your eyes (and mind) to divert from anything that could cause you to stray(you'll know it when you see it)then you'll stop the urges before they start. THE REVIEWERS THAT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS "BOUNCING" AREN'T SERIOUS ABOUT RECOVERY. Bouncing only means that you don't take a second look at that woman or mag rack. I only want to have eyes for my wife and thats what I strive to do. God will honor your efforts and won't take offense if you don't pay homage to other beautiful women.

I have found that this works for me. And judging by how ingrained my "addiction" was This is nothing short of amazing. I have even found myself even cutting out pictures from catologs that may cause my mind not to focus on God. Whodathunkit?

You can read those other books that tell you how "You will need 6 months to a year of therapy" or you can start off by reading this book and gaining control of you HABIT.

Dont give Satan more credit than he deserves. Hasn't he taken enough from you already?

For singles and teens read "Every YOUNG mans Battle".

I hope this has helped.

Summary: Breaking the cycle of shame.
Review: The tools I gained from this book were very useful in overcoming my addiction to pornography. If you or your mate is struggling with sexual sin, this book can help. No book can help someone who isn't motivated to change, but this may open their eyes. There is a seminar with the same title that is far better than the book. The seminar changed my life. Do a web search ...

Summary: Real help from guys who have been there
Review: If you are fighting this particular battle, I highly recommend this book. It draws heavily on the Bible for our answers, and rightly so.

Some of the most valuable sections were about true manhood, and cherishing our wives.

Summary: Dangerous
Review: I read the "proof texts" with an open mind and careful consideration. My conscience is unswayed. Either the authors are making a mountain out of a molehill, or my conscience is irreparably seared, and I am to be pitied. The authors did little textual analysis, and did not accept it in its most plain sense. Plus, remember the wise advice about "majoring on the majors; minoring on the minors." The thrust of Scripture is the condemning of adultery, immoral sex, and the desire to engage in these things.

Lust (desiring a woman not your wife) is sin, as Jesus, Job et al., make clear. Finding a woman not your wife sexually stimulating is not lust. You may personally be unable to separate the two, but it can be done. (Thank God.) If lust is a problem for you, then by all means "bounce" away. But if you are just being human, finding pleasure in the beauty of women, but not desiring to be with them (lust), then fear not! Do not allow the authors to hang an unbearable burden on you, to defuse your biology! Your biology, your sexuality, your natural response to feminine beauty, is a good gift from God.

That said, I believe visual stimulation - without lust - is a matter of conscience, and the guidance provided in Romans 14 applies. My own wife is very comfortable with this view, and I think that women who are more comfortable with this book's suggestions have some unresolved insecurities. It is emasculating and unglorifying to God to require that we not be turned on by God's magnificience as shown in feminine beauty.

Summary: A Panacea For Sexual Immorality
Review: The authors of the book, "Every Man's Battle," did a fairly good job in elaborating their 'tested and proven' ways of attaining victory on sexual immorality. As a young man, the book helped me to be meticulous towards my interaction with the sexually-charged society of 21st century. Even though I noticed, through out the book, some stupid ideas that lack incendiary veracity, I was able to filter the good stuff I can benefit from. For example: In some chapters, the book downplays the awesome power of God over impure desires of flesh. I have seen God giving victory in a matter of minutes over cigar, drug and pornography. And, I hope there are unprecedented number of godly people who can testify to this.
Nevertheless, the book is ghost written. As a reader, I recommend that you read this book, either if you are male or female.

Summary: Must Read
Review: I am newly married, and naively thought that I would no longer struggle with sexual impurity since I was now married. When I felt tempted in a situation, I panicked and was left with feelings of guilt and fear and self-disgust. Fortunately God gave me the strength to reach out and countenance the problem and this book is one way he enabled me, along with church community, etc. I think many reviewers falsely characterize this book as an 8 week program or as a practice legalism perspective only or married men only, and my response is they need to read the book more carefully. Being spirit-filled is a great way to come close to God, however it doesn't give you practical applications! For example if we read scripture and don't understand exactly what it means, and we appeal to being spirit filled for full understanding, it won't magically happen (this is what exegesis is for.) For singles, what better advice than treating women as if they were going to be someone's wife, not as your joy ride in dating? We must learn discipline and train ourselves up in knowledge and truth in addition to being spirit filled, and I found this book to have a great balance of both. In addition, I found it to alleviate my guilt and free me to counter my sin and face it, to seek repentance instead of remaining trapped by it. Highly recommended for all christian men.

Summary: This book offers practicle help which makes it differnt
Review: Many books written on the subject offer very little practicle help, this book is different. There is real help woven into the pages of this book. I have recommended it many times and no-one I know has been dissapointed.

Summary: More Inspirational Than Instructional
Review: As a man reads this book, he is inspired to seek sexual purity and to encourage other men to do the same. The authors are determined to keep their eyes and their hearts pure, and present their means to do so. While their intent is commendable and even contagious, their instruction is lacking in depth and substance.

Their techniques of "bouncing the eyes" and "starving the eyes" could very well create more problems than they solve. Sights from everyday life that men cannot avoid are better handled by the transforming grace of God, rather than by looking away from every attractive woman encountered or by ripping the covers and selected pages from the women's magazines that wives possess. The techniques of finding victory in one's mind and heart are a little more valid, but are still missing any emphasis on Divine activity.

This book is much more of a "why should I" manual rather than a "how do I" manual. Every sincere, biblically-based Christian man desires sexual purity, but the primary way to achieve it is through surrender to the power and presence of God. The practices of bouncing and starving the eyes, corralling thoughts and cherishing one's wife have their place, but are no substitute for Divine transformation of character.

For a much better treatment of male sexuality from a Christian perspective, try "The Sexual Man" by Archibald Hart.
