Summary: Enjoyed it very much
Review: I enjoyed this book immensely. I will say it's not for everyone. The Book's message did hit me just right though, so it was good for me. Max has a very easy style and I've not found anything, so far, in his books that contradict what I have learned and read in my Biblical studies. What I find great about Max's books is the cross-over potential. If you are not a Christian, but looking for some guidelines or help, Max's books are just as insightful as other "self-help" books out there. Readers can take the anecdotes giving by Max and understand the core message.

Not for everyone, but if your head is heavy and you shoulders are drooping... Give this book a shot.

Summary: Very Inspiring
Review: I listened to the book on tape of Traveling Light. It was very enjoyable and entertaining and also very inspiring. Max Lucado
used images and descriptions in his teaching that make the lessons very easy to understand. He is very knowledgable and gets his point across in a manner that is easy to follow.
This is a great book for someone who wants a better understanding of the Psalm, or who is looking for an easy to follow inspirational message.

Summary: Carry a Lighter Load.
Review: I started reading some of Lucado's work about 5 years ago and have always found it a perfect fit for whatever situation I am currently in. This particular novel is great in breaking down some of the more common excess baggage that we all carry daily. It is a self-help book tightly wrapped with anecdotes that make it an entertaining read while dealing with a very heavy subject. The study pages in the back make it an even more useful tool for dissecting your life. This is a book that you can read all at once for pleasure or in multiple sittings for use as a daily devotional.

Summary: Inspiring Light
Review: I was looking forward to reading this book after scanning all of the superlative online reviews. In addition, structuring a book about releasing life's burdens around Psalm 23 (the Lord is my shepherd) seemed very compelling to me. But, despite the great reviews and the excellent premise, the book was a big disappointment. The insights to a number of life's problems he drew from Psalm 23 seemed superficial and uninspirational to me. I'm not sure I can fully articulate why, just that he didn't connect with or inspire me as I had hoped.

Max Lacudo is obviously a very popular author, who clearly has touched many readers. This book has evidently moved people as well. I'm sorry I wasn't one of them.

Summary: Unloading Unwanted Baggage from the Road of Life
Review: I'm in love with Max Lucado's works. And, one should be! The way Lucado writes in every chapter, in every book somewhere everyone has experienced some trial in their life. Lucado is surely blessed by the spirit of God to write so many beautiful, inspirational books. Lucado covers about every situation you can imagine he's amazing. The Lord Jesus is AMAZING!

In this title, 'Traveling Lightly', Lucado looks at and uses as a guide the Twenty-Third Psalm. . .

The Lord is my shepherd;

I shall not want . . .

Each chapter takes each verse of the Psalm, step by step. Until you unload that heavy burden of luggage. The one you've been carrying around needlessly most all of your life. Because you are NOT ALONE!

No matter where we are in our life. Or, what we're doing in our lives. Even through the trials and turmoil the Lord is with us. That's how much He loves us.
Though we may experience discontent, weariness, worry, hopelessness, guilt, arrogance, trying to be perfect, fear, loneliness, shame, disappointment, envy, doubt, grief and even facing death and loss. Even the homesickness for Heaven. He is NOT far away. The Lord Jesus follows us and NEVER leaves us, nor forsakes us. We were NEVER intended to bear such burdens. Jesus did it for each and everyone of us. Jesus wrote the book on salvation. He stands at the door of our hearts. Waiting. To give you that free gift of His perfect Grace.

In our journey of life we're intended to enjoy it without carrying all the stuff around. Most of us step on the baggage carousel and load up. This book guides us step by step from each verse of the Twenty-Third Psalm. After we're all done. We've dropped everything. Free to enjoy life like we should. With the help of the Savior who did it all. So that we could have the peace and the freedom to live happy lives. Perfect love casts out fear [I John 4:18].

I highly recommend this wonderful, helpful book. For supplemental reading also try 'The Spellbinder's Gift' by Og Mandino, 'God in the Dark' by Os Guinness, and 'A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23' by Phillip Keller. If you're looking to slow down from the choatic life see what the power of this book can teach you.

Summary: Walking Baggage Free
Review: If you want to go to the next level in your Christian walk, Traveling Light is a must read. Max Lucado, incidently my favorite author, has beautifully illustrated through the 23rd Psalm how to rid ourselves of the baggage that weighs down our spiritual lives. Simply written, with easy-to-understand analogies, he gently guides us into truthful examination of ourselves and easy steps to rid ourselves of each piece of luggage. My favorite characteristic of Lucado's books is they are based on Scripture. Also, with the study guide at the back, they are an excellent tool for bible studies/discipleship groups. This book in particular would be excellent for a discipleship group. I guarantee that once you read Traveling Light, you will never ever look at the 23 Psalm the same again. Truly the Lord is our Shepherd and we are His sheep.

Summary: Sure Whatever
Review: If you were to believe what this book was saying you would have to have an at least partial lobotomy. I have slightly religeous tendencies but to make statement like "I actually remember the day that Jesus was crucified" and "Moses was a break dancer" just don't seem to gel with me.
Some of the concepts are actually reasonable. Most people would like to make a million dollars and so the prayers throughout the book requesting money from god are quite practical and useful.
If Moses was really a break dancer where did he get a ghetto blaster? I just don't get it!

Summary: Max has let GOD do it again.
Review: Max has again created a venue for GOD to give us a insight into how very much He loves each of us and how far He has gone to let us know He understands our hurt and our trials. He is always ready to take over for us, we just have to ask. This book has encouraged me greatly not give up in my walk with GOD. Tomorrow could be the day of deliverance. Please take a moment to ak GOD to bless and protect Max and his family.
