Rating: Summary: It's as great as Le Petit Prince by A. De Saint-Exupery Review: A student of mine recommended this book to me. I read it in one single night; it was simply irresistable. There is only one other book that is as philosophical as this one: it is the classic Le Petit Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. It is amazing how skillfully Trina Paulus composed this fable of life, humanism and humanity. It is a shame that this most astounding piece of literature has been unavailable in Germany or elsewhere in Europe. Nevertheless, I have successfully used it for teaching English as a second language for years, thanks to amazon.com.
Rating: Summary: Hope for life... Review: One of my sons school counselors read this book at a tea. I went with my sons girlfriend who didn't have a mother. The book touched me... and her. Since that time, I have given this book to anyone who needed to believe in themselves. I still believe it always touches me more than the person I give the book too... because it always makes me remember there is hope... for whatever you want in life. My favorite "personal quote" to my children..."Live each day as a wonderful new adventure in your life... YOU write the story!" This book gives you the guidlines of writing your own story, or how to live the mistake of allowing others to write it for you. A great gift of inspiration!
Rating: Summary: A transforming book that affirms life is truly about love Review: This is a book I read over and over, usually in the company of great girlfriends. Each time, I'm newly inspired by how it provides insight to my life at that very moment. A group of us read this at a women's retreat as a bedtime story over five years ago. Since then, we all gush with stories every time we see or hear about it. It has inspired us to go for our dreams, choose love over the pull for money -- it even inspired a dear friend to have the butterfly on the cover tatooed into a bracelet around her ankle for daily inspiration. If you need some reassurance that going after love and friendship is the real purpose for life, this is the book to read.
Rating: Summary: Speaks to your soul Review: I was given this book by a good friend of mine who said it spoke so loudly to him. It did for me as well. After reading it, I was left with an incredible feeling of hope to get to where I want by listening to my inner voice rather than where society told me I needed be. It is a very quick read but the content and the message stay with you for a lifetime!
Rating: Summary: known it forever Review: i've loved this book for as long as i can remember..we've had it in my house since i was little, and i used to read it all the time, even though some words were hard to understand. i'm 15 now, and i still love this book and it makes more sense now then it did when i was little, but its great, insperational
Rating: Summary: Still relevant after 26 years Review: My dad bought this book for us, his 4 sons, when it first came out in '73. I was 8 years old at the time and enjoyed the pictures and the story of the caterpillar-pillars. I remembered it one day while browsing in a book store some 15 years later and was pleased that it was still available. This book ranks right up there with Jonathan Livingston Seagull as far as good, concise stories that will help you step back and see the big picture. Everyone needs this sometime since we are all part of those struggling pillars, trying to get to the top.
Rating: Summary: share this book Review: This is the best book that I have read about searching your soul and purpose in life. I wish I could give a copy to everyone. I am sending a copy to friend, who is currently in the peace core.
Rating: Summary: touches my life in unbelievable ways Review: I love this book. I am recently going through a very painful separation from someone I assumed to be my true love. This books gives me hope that all will work out, and that I, too, will become a butterfly.
Rating: Summary: This book unfolds with panoramic delight. Review: My mother gave me this book in 1996. It is, without reservation, the best gift I have ever received from her. I am now a special education teacher, and am buying three copies for the incredibly wonderful people I have worked with this year. I can think of nothing better to offer them.
Rating: Summary: A Profound statement of a simple Truth Review: As the author wrote 25 years ago, "There is just no way into this book except the book itself. No way!...whatever we say about it misses. It ends up too soft or too rational or too cute or too heroic. And to just summarize the plot would take away your delight (I hope you'll be delighted.)"
