Rating: Summary: Wonderful Fiction Review: I am not a religious person at all, but I still enjoy the book. The plot is intense and the characters are intriguing. I appreciate everyone's view of religion, but I do not respect those that claim only one is the 'right' one. I think religious institutions tend to limit the mind. This book is great for anyone who has an open mind and loves good story telling, but no matter what it's based on, it is fiction.
Rating: Summary: Can I get an amen! Review: After hearing about the subject matter of this book, I was looking forward to reading the entire series. I changed my mind after about ten pages. The mood of the book was condescending and preachy. And the writing was the literary equivalent of USA Today. Skip this unless you're a mindless follower looking for validation.
Rating: Summary: Easily one of the worst books I've ever read Review: This book no more made me believe in the Rapture than aFrisbee would make me believe in UFOs. The writing is more hackneyedand simplistic than most romance novels (the main character is named"Rayford Steele"!) and the plot is just a boilerplate retelling of the most paranoid Christian fantasies. I know people who say they love these books, and I really truly pity them.
Rating: Summary: Life Changing Book Review: This EXCELLENT novel has changed a lot of my views about Christianity and religion in general. The characters are wonderful to follow and readers will gain a genuine interest in their lives.
Rating: Summary: The series is rather tedious, less than credible Review: Face it folks, Jerry Furland and Glen Kleier beat this hands down. Especially Furland's "Transfer". But, I have to admit, I still managed to enjoy this series.
Rating: Summary: a good antidote to moral/religious relativism Review: This book was lacking a bit in the quality of writing and characterization, but it is important in one way - it promotes the fact that though God is loving, there is only one pathway to salvation, and those who do not use that pathway will be damned. Modern american society promotes the dangerous and evil idea that as long as you aren't hurting anyone else, anything you do is a valid choice, and that all you need to get to heaven is to love other people. Wrong! Love is a major part of God's requirements of us, but accepting Jesus is the main requirement for getting into heaven. The path is narrow, not some freakish "we each need to define god and relate to god in our own way" relativistic nightmare.
Rating: Summary: Religious literature that can appeal to all Review: I can't say that I will have better things to say than what has been written before. The other comments are pretty much right on target for my feelings but I feel like I should add that this book helped to change my way of thinking. I have always been very religious but this book really does make you think about the decisions we all make daily. It is a book that you can't put down and does not make you feel condescended upon. I would recommend this book to Christians and non-Christians. What great literature to be reading in a day and age where religion is often frowned upon when discussed openly. I think it may help others like it has helped me to begin asking questions and to want to read the Bible to find out more. I wish I had gotten this kind of motivation and craving for religion earlier, but better late than never.
Rating: Summary: It's Wake Up Time Review: If you think it is time for you to wake up and notice the last book of the bible read this book "Left Behind". Do not just read the first book, read the whole series. These books will make you realize what is going to happen some day soon. The book contains actual excerts from the bible and it will make you want to pick up your bible and start reading it again. It is not a depressing book by any means. Alot of poeple have told me they do not want to read the book because it would be depressing. Well I am here to tell you it is not depressing at all. It is a fictual account of what happens to some people when they are left behind after God comes and takes the chosen people. Please read all the books, you will love them, I am sure of it!
Rating: Summary: captivating Review: as i finished the book after two days of exhaustive reading i couldn't help but look at my life, analyze what i am making of it. this is a must read. sometimes we all need something to help put our life in perspective and left behind is the perfect antidote. my only complaint, and i in no way mean to denigrate the storyline, is the predictability of the next five in the series. nonetheless, the fast reading will keep you coming back and hopefully open a few doors for you, i know it did for me.
Rating: Summary: Wake Up call Review: I've been a devout reader for many years, and this has to be the absolute most thrilling and captivating book I've ever read. From the first to last page, the author captures your heart as well as your imagination. I've been a Christian for most of my life and this is the first book that has really moved my soul. I'm ashamed to have just heard of the series, but I've done more than my fair share of advertising the book for other believers and non-believers. Here's to great reading!
