Rating: Summary: For Christians Who Like Shallow Writing Only Review: I'll be blunt: the characters in this book are unbelievable, undeveloped, and wooden. The writing is skin-deep, badly organized, and hardly moving. The premise sounds interesting, but it's never taken anywhere, just squandered on terrible prose, plot and small minds. If you're a Christian who thinks that any book that tries to shove Jesus in the reader's face is holy, go ahead and read it. But for the smart fraction of our population, and those spiritual men and women who refuse to let tripe like this represent their beautiful faith--or, in other words, know good writing from bad writing--stay far, far away from this stinker.
Rating: Summary: An Exciting read. Review: Left Behind is a very entertaining and Interesting story; What Tim Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins do is take the Bible prophecy's about the END TIMES and write a fictional story about how those times can come to pass. Its almost like Tim Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins are teaching us Bible Prophecy 101 along with presenting the Gospel Message at the same time, in an easy to understand and coherent manor. I think this is a good book for Christians and non Christians alike, because it is entertaining and exciting. It would be a good book for anyone who may be interested in what the Bible Prophecy's say about the end times; And may cause an interests in the Bible prophecy's to one who had no prior interests. It is easy to read and an exciting and scary read. It will peek your interests and cause you to want to continue to read the series. It may also cause an interests in the Bible prophecies and cause one to research the Bible and other more serious Prophecy study materiel and books by such Authors and scholars as Sir Robert Anderson (The Coming Prince and Daniel In The Critics den). Hal Lindsey (The Final Battle, the Late Great Planet Earth, There's A New World Coming, and Vanished). And Tim Lahaye (Are We In the End Times and Beginning of The End).
Rating: Summary: Couldn't finish... Review: This series of books gave me nightmares. I read the first few, but they were just so violent and dark that I kept having dreams that the world had ended. I had to stop reading them.
Rating: Summary: Wondeful series to get lost in.... Review: This book is wonderful!!! I have read this book and all of the other books in this series. I am now waiting for the final book, Glourious Appearing. It is so real. To be able to look at what could happen to the world when God takes his believers is amazing. Lahaye and Jenkins have done a wonderful job with the characters. They are your average citizens. Some even thinking that they are christians and then to be left behind. It makes you think. At the begining of the book, in the plane. There is a couple with a baby. And when the rapture takes place, the couple are only left with some clothes from their baby. It is sad, but it will happen. I think they did a wonderful job writing this book. Very detailed. I would recommend this book to anyone who just wants to read a good book.
Rating: Summary: Totally Relevant Review: This book is a wonderful read, it describes a possible reality of the end of the world. I bought it after I had seen the film version of the book. It is the first in a series of books that are designed to give a Christian view of the world today and how people are easily deceived. In response to the articles written by other reviewers who do not think that it is relevant, I tend to disagree, in my opinion I find this book totally relevant to the state of the world today. Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins have excelled themselves by creating such a wonderful, descriptive, creative novel. This book is not just for someone who is a Christian, it is open to anyone who enjoys a good book. My favourite part of this book is close to the start, it is set on a plane. Cameron, a reporter has just noticed that a lot of people have disappeared, he goes over to a woman who seems quite distressed, Cameron asks her why she is worried, she replies by telling him that her husband has gone, Cameron asks her if he has only gone to the toilet, she replies only if he went there naked! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read.
Rating: Summary: Your eyes will roll so often, they'll be sore Review: The premise was interesting, but the execution was atrocious. I imagine the main appeal of this book is its juvenile writing, which makes it easy to understand.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. It may not be that it should be taken literally, (after all, the book of revelations is open to hundreds of interpretations.) but the book is extremely action-packed and exciting. i have now read all the way through book 5 and they just keep getting better!! I can't put it down! I reccomend this book to ALL!
Rating: Summary: ...and Yet people buy these books. Review: Contemporary Christian music is notorious for being a watered down imitation of secular music. It is usually below average in quality and only has value because it is a digestible form that sheltered Christians can listen to without feeling guilty. The same can definitely be said for this entire books series. Frankly, the only mildly impressive thing about these books are the authors' ability to stretch a few verses across 200+ in order to keep the money flowing in. This may be the only popular book series out there that have the literary quality, depth, and character development of a freshmen high school student's creative writing assignment There have been many great works of fiction as well as movies that have successfully used the bible as a basis for a great work of fiction. These books often can be enjoyed by the religious as well as the non-religious. I have yet to hear a positive review for this serious except from the very religious
Rating: Summary: Smacked in the face with reality Review: Jenkins and LeHaye are an incredible duo! They feed off each other to create an unbiased depiction of what might happen in the VERY near future. Cpt. Steele, "Buck", and Cloe are so real you can almost reach into the book and shake their hands. Beyond the fiction there are quite a few scripturally based facts that are woven in by inspired hands to make this the best Christian Fiction ever produced.
Rating: Summary: I liked it. I kept me reading for hours. Review: This is the second best end-times book I have read. Britt Gillette's "Conquest of Paradise" was just a little better. This was more interesting and I kept reading it longer, because you can't read "Conquest of Paradise" in the dark. I liked Left Behind a lot though. It was a very good point of view of how the world would end. And I liked how they kept going from Rayford Steele's life to Buck Williams life, and I got a good grade on my oral book report too. I would definitely recommend it to any teen boy or girl. I also liked how there was more than just the disappearances going on at once, like the ten men meeting and changing to a one world currency.
