Rating: Summary: My thoughts on the first of the Left Behind Books. Review: I bought this book for an international flight and found it enjoyable. It has not been as gripping as my usual Grisham novels. But It is a good book none the less. It gets stronger as it goes on, but could be more gripping in the beginning. What it lacks in suspense, it makes up for in its teaching method. Most will read it because of their faith. It will definately shed light on some forgotten areas. I look forward to book two which I have on order. I recommend this book to all...
Rating: Summary: Good Story Review: The story is good but predictable. It was a bit slow. It's also way too obvious who the antichrist is. I liked the movie better.
Rating: Summary: Feeding Fear and Psychosis Review: I am a therapist. I deal with psychotics, child abusers and chemically dependent clients on a daily basis. Most of the psychotics, many of my chemically dependent clients and almost all of the child abusers I see have the same core religious belief systems embellished by these books. This belief system is probably the largest single obstacle to any meaningful recovery for these people. Congratulations to the authors and the outspoken fans of this series. Your combined efforts have set us back in the treatment mentally illness, chemically dependency and child abuse by at least fifty years.
Rating: Summary: Sorely disappointing. . . Review: The only readers who will come away satisfied with this series (I quit halfway through "Soul Harvest") are fundamentalist who can't get enough of the same ol' fire and brimstone. These books are the shallowest of shallow, with about as much intellectual stimulation as a bowl of cold oatmeal. There are vastly more exciting and fearsome novels on the subject of The Last Day--not the least of which is the novel by the same name--"The Last Day." If you have the mental wherewithal for a really scary spiritual ride, "The Last Day" delivers a story of unsurpassed suspense and controversy. If you just like to sit back and veg out, stick with this juvenile "Left Behind" stuff!
Rating: Summary: Depressing and Dogmatic Review: Why do people read this trash? It's very negative and dogmatic! Reading about end of times is very negative. Instead why don't you people read about peace, love and prosperity? If you want to buy a book that will enlighten you....GO read Deepak Chopras' books! THis book will only depress you.
Rating: Summary: Sceptical...but now addicted Review: I haven't participated in chuch life for several years...so when my best friend decided to read these books I told her I think she would just get all freaked out and not enjoy them. She read the first two and began telling me about them and asked me to just try volume #1. They are great!! I started reading them a month ago & I am on #5. Once you pick up one of these books it's pretty hard to put them down. Contrary to what I had thought, it wasn't intimidating or a scare tactic. In fact I have learned more about the Bible while reading these than I did in several years of Sunday school! I am truly enjoying this series!
Rating: Summary: The Rapture takes place Review: After reading this book and all the other books in the series I couldn't wait for the "Left Behind" movie and for the latest installment in the book series "The Mark." The "Left Behind" movie was okay and pretty faithful to the book: it's just as intriguing and gripping. In "The Mark" the second half of the Great Tribulation takes place and it can be helpful to read at least the first book in the series, this one "Left Behind" to understand the basis of the story completely. "Left Behind" although based on Biblical truth turns out to be a thriller with the assurance that these things will take place. Another book that I just read which deals with plausible events in the end times is the high profile megathriller by Alec Donzi called "The Consultant."
Rating: Summary: Depressing Review: Many of my Mississippi fundamentalist coworkers recommended this book. After reading it, I found that I was extremely depressed. It was an obvious and poorly written fundamentalist "tract". If this book can warrant 5 stars by American readers, I have grave concerns about the intelligence of the American public. What an embarrassing book!
Rating: Summary: A Sermon in Sheep's Clothing ... Review: If it's "preaching to the choir" you want then this your book. If it's a good story you want then skip this thinly disguised revision of The Revelation. I left my copy on an airplane ... and then I disappeared.
Rating: Summary: GOT JESUS? Review: These books are UNBELIEVABLE!! I almost didn't read thembecause I thought they would be way boring, and that's even comingfrom someone who's a Christian. Boy, am I glad I changed mymind. These books are so easy to read, and explain the end times insuch an easy way. I do admit that at times the writting is a littletoo easy, but the characters are versatile, and leave you wanting toknow more. The series really starts to take off in Assassins, andleaves you totally wanting more by the end of the MARK. Don't pass upthis series!
