Rating: Summary: An easy to read, thought provoking spell binder! Review: This book was fascinating and very readable. The thought of being "Left Behind" is something that many people have considered at one time or another. Most interesting to have it pictured for you and in a startingly clear fashion. The ultimate reaction of the masses to the disappearences while appearing to be ignorant is sad to say, probably quite accurate. Just like the first time I saw 'The Empire Strikes Back', I was ready for the next book as soon as I closed the cover on "Left Behind."
Rating: Summary: This novel caused me to examine my own heart. Review: I thought that this novel was well written. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I got to know the characters as if they were part of my own family. This is a must read for all.
Rating: Summary: This is a spell binding novel. Review: Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins are wonderful as they tell the story of Rayford Steele, his daughter Chloe, Buck Williams, and Bruce Barnes as they ty to make sense of the strange disappearance of thousands of people around the world. This is wonderful you should read it.
Rating: Summary: This book makes you THINK twice! Review: This book puts things into perspective. How worldly pleasures are just there to make obstacles with our path to God. What some think is to be so important can be taken away from you in an instant. People need to think more about their priorities and what they need instead of acting on a lust or desire. I believe this book is great for any Christian and will help a non-christian become a born-again believer.
Rating: Summary: Imaginative Vision of End-Times Prophesy Review: In reading most of the other reviews first, I'm facinated by the non-Christian reaction to this book. It seems they interpret this book as being written to scare them into becoming believers. Obviously the Book of Revelation is the definitive source of information on this subject, not this fictional account (hint for non-Christians: The Book of Revelation is easy to find, it's the last book in the bible).Clearly these books were written for the believer who is familiar with end-times prophesy. Knowing the prophesy creates a strong sense of anticipation as the reader keeps wondering how the author is going to present the enactment of the prophesy. I thought they did an outstanding job of creating a realistic scenario to mirror the prophesy. My only complaint is I will have to buy $100 worth of books to get the whole story!
Rating: Summary: Thought provoking & one that everyone must read! Review: After reading Left Behind and the Tribulation Force (I have not yet read "Nicolae: The Rise of the Antichrist" the realization that the end is near makes you repriotitize your thinking. Everyone, regardless of his religion or nonreligion must read this book. Do you want to be left behind? It would be great to have this made into a movie.
Rating: Summary: The best series of books I have ever read. Biblical Truths! Review: I found the Left Behinds series to be captivating and definately has made me more aware of where my heart needs to be in the end times. I believe we are close. There is great detail in Left Behind down to anything that is man made will be left behind, for example contact lenses, fillings in your teeth and even screws or pins holding your bones together. What really fascinated me was the biblical truth in the books. I believe in pre-tribulation. I can't imagine a loving God would leave His children on earth to endure any part of the tribulation. I believe that times are short and this has made me more aware of it and that we really need to be ready, because you really don't want to be Left Behind.... There is great truth in these books.
Rating: Summary: An edge-of-your-seat thrill ride Review: This book keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. If I had not been a Christian before, this book would have scared me into it. It takes what's in the bible about the rapture and makes it real to the reader. I couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: I am thankful that I have chosen to walk with God!! Review: As a christian, I felt that this book was a very well written story of how the rapture will take place. It will happen in a "blink of an eye" and no matter where you are or what you are doing, those who have chosen to accept Christ will be gone. And unfortunately, those who refuse or are unable to confess that there is a God and that he died on the cross for their sins, will be "left behind". What scary scary days those will be. I would be frightened to live in those days. If we think this world is bad now, just wait until all of the christians are gone and Satan has full control of this place! I would highly recommend that every christian get this book in to the hands of loved ones. I don't want any of my loved ones to be "left behind".
Rating: Summary: Too much praise and too much slanted criticism Review: I have just completed the first three books in this series as well. After reading all the comments it seems the Christians loved this book because it has motivated them in their relationship with God, while the, I'm assuming, non-Christians criticize its simplicity and arrogance. Well, I think you are both right. I found myself driven to read these books quickly because they inspired me to pursue a closer relationship with God and to be more evangelical. At the same time, I recognized how contrived the story was and how stale the character development. However, I admire Mr. LaHaye and Mr. Jenkins for making an effort to present this truth in a non-academic form for those of us who have a hard time wading through Revelation. As for it being propaganda, it seems to me any material that espouses a complete belief is tagged such. Why should it bother anyone if God doesn't take them, if they don't want to belong to God?
