Rating: Summary: Unbelieveable! Review: This book was an amazing story... as are all of the following books. It was intriguing and exciting! It captured my attention and held it, making me continute to read the series with a hunger. I borrowed it from a friend and now I'm telling everyone I know about it! 'Left Behind' is a must read, as is every book in the series. A wonderful start to an eye-opening and exhilarating set of books!
Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!! Review: This book really made me examine my christian life. I began to look at things in my life that could keep me from spending eternity in Heaven. I also realized that we christians have a big job to do. We have to witness to the lost. Left Behind also shocked me into realizing that not all people, like Bruce Barnes, are truly who they say they are. I love the irony LaHaye and Jenkins present. The reader knows that Nicolae is the Antichrist long before the characters in the book do.
Rating: Summary: Caution: This book will upset you Review: I bought and have read this and must say, No it's not the best well written, and yes the characters are not fully developed and are a little thin, yes, it does jump time without filling in the gaps, but, BUT, this book was written not just to entertain but to carry a message. A message that needs to appeal to the masses not just avid, hard core readers. So if you're reading this and demand heavy plots and are offended by the fact that the lack of belief in Jesus Christ may get one "left behind" perhaps this may not be the book for you. I put a one star rating to get your attention to me it deserves higher. I would have appreciated a better, more complicated plot but some of those I recommended it to wouldn't have and might not have even read it if it did have. The point of this book is not to entertain, but to raise awareness. Awareness to the fact that the bible tells us that it won't all be roses and warm fuzzy feelings and that there will be consequences for the rejection of Jesus Christ, it is in the bible, deal with it. I was amazed at some of the reviewers that were "offended" by the thought that good living alone won't get you to heaven to me it's ludicrous that you would reject God's only son yet think you will spend eternity with them both. Anyway it's worth the read regardless of its literary faults.
Rating: Summary: A Gift from God Review: As a practicing Catholic, I had been warned that the series is not favorable to my religion. I found that the reading was both enjoyable and inspirational. The foundation of my beliefs are based in our Lord, so I found myself becomming completely enthralled. As a writer, I know that these books were a gift from God not only to the readers but also to the writers. I pray that all who believe or want to believe will read this book and pass it on to someone they love, so that none may be left behind.
Rating: Summary: CAUTION-You won't be able to put it down! Its addictive. Review: It's an intriguing tale of bible prophecy fulfilled. Any reader regardless of demomination or religious convictions will enjoy the intricate story line and politics involved. The main charaters are beliveable as well as likeable. You find yourself drawn into the story as if you are right there with them. The authors have done a wonderful job of combining believability and fast paced excitement-no dragging here. Great from start to end. MY suggestion-you might as well go on and buy the second book as well, you'll finish the first so fast you'll want the second close in hand so you won't be held hanging. The biggest gripper of all, it's based on actual prophesy from the bible, they just elaborate enough to create the story buy do not invent the major points such as the dissappearances and the major political power rising from the east, etc. You'll get my meaning when you read it. ENJOY!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Here's a revelation! This book reeks! Review: Mr. LaHaye must have been sick the day they taught writing atwriter's school. His characters are thin, and his prose reads likeassembly instructions for a grill. I really wanted this to be a good book, but it turned out to be 468 pages of fluff. This book has all the flavor and texture of a raw potato. If heaven is full of books like this I would rather be left behind.
Rating: Summary: Not literature Review: Fine Bible study, but not good literature. Not the best writing, character development or plotting. If you want more quality writing/suspense and less Bible lesson, read the more challenging account of end times in Glenn Kleier's THE LAST DAY, which is the high water mark of all the millennium-based thrillers out there (and I know, I read them all.)
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT!!! Review: Thought provoking, inspirational, convicting, Biblical, and conscious raising. Interesting from front to back. I couldn't put it down. It inspired me to evaluated my relationship with God and what would happen to me during the rapture. I know that I will be going home with the Father, but I really need to devote more time to Him.
Rating: Summary: Only thing Left Behind was the author's writing skills! Review: The first 50 pages caught my attention -- the next 50 lost it! The concept is good (despite the author's own religious zealotry) but the lack of writing talent is clear from page one. This could have been overlooked, but the characters were paper thin and predictable. Anyone who read this book knew from the first that Nicolae Carpathia was the villain -- the name alone sounds like it belongs in a Harlequin Romance novel. Unfortunately even the good premise of the books won't convince me to buy the rest of the series. What a waste of a good concept -- if you want real talent and an end of the world story, read Robert McCammon's Swan Song. It outshines Left Behind.
Rating: Summary: Great reading. Keeps you in the story. Review: Left Behind is a great book for those who question what will happen in the end-times. The plot/story keeps you reading. It was hard to put the book down.
