Rating: Summary: Very Convicting Review: Left Behind was an inspiring look at a glorious event all Christians are looking foward to. It left me weeping in guilt at times, as I was forced to do some self examining inside my own heart, and smiling with joy at other moments reading about the awesome power of God! After finishing the first of the series I can honestly say I'm very glad I will not be "Left Behind"! I'm very intrigued with the author's account of Revelations and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Thanks to the Author's Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins for writing such a wonderful reminder!
Rating: Summary: This one is the best of the series, but .... Review: This "end of the world" story is based on the Book of Revelations and is very intriguing. Don't forget Waco though -- there are other books in the Bible that merit study as well. The authors' theory of The Rapture was pretty brilliant actually, though I agree with the other reviewers who found the characters one dimensional and unbelievable. Disappointments are: 1) that this was to be a 7 book series, expanded now to 21 (greed?), each one getting worse and rehashing the early books to "catch up" the reader who did not read the earlier books (am I alone in finding this insulting?). Also, the books are in a (nice) large print on terrible quality paper and ragged margins, making it look like it was published by 7th graders. Ugh. I'd recommend this book, but absolutely would not recommend the series.
Rating: Summary: Get off the planet and take this book with you... Review: What could have been a unique and compelling story-line is instead an uninteresting and thinly-disguised attempt at print evangelism. Replete with unbelievable, pathetic characters and a plot that moves slower than molasses in January, this book is a painful and disappointing experience to an intelligent reader. Sandwiched between a mildly interesting premise in the start of the book and some action (Finally!) in the last chapter, are page after page of torpid brain death. It's easy to see, however, that this book would hold fervent appeal to the unimaginative types who blindly follow rapture doctrine. If you want to get the Cliff Notes on this book, just ask any street-corner lunatic with a sandwich board - he'll tell you all you need to know.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDFING Review: This is one of the most amazing books I have evr read in my entire life. It starts off quick, with no slow stuff to introduce the Rapture. It's just there. The plot is so twisting, conniving, and absolutely incredible that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down Review: Normally, I read sci-fi books, so I was reluctant to read anything else. I started this book yesterday around noon and have been reading it between classes and after school. I just finished it. I didn't want to stop reading it for anything. This book captured my attention in such a way that few books have been able to. I have always been interested in the Rapture and the Tribulation, so the first three chapters had me hooked. I couldn't believe how much I wanted to read the book. My physics teacher even yelled at me because I was reading during class. I would reccommend this book to anyone who has any interest in the end times, or if you are witnessing to a person who doubts what is written thr book of Revelation. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
Rating: Summary: Intriguing, thrilling, and Bibically correct! Review: I have read The Left Behind series from book1, Left Behind, to book 5, Apolyon. And I plan to keep on reading to book 12! Buy it, borrow it, check it out-anything! This series is a must read...
Rating: Summary: Finally - a series I can look forward to reading! Review: A friend introduced me to this series, and I am awed. After reading "Left Behind", the first book, I am already questioning my faith. The prose could be a bit deeper, but it's fluffiness makes it all that more readable to the average reader. The characters are well developed, with feelings and instincts that are totally understandable. Rarely has a book made me reflect inward, this one certainly has. I've already started "Tribulation Force" and I'm anxious to see where it leads me. I haven't looked forward to a sequel so much since Stephen King's "The Green Mile." I recommend a quiet room, reading light, a cup of tea and plenty of time - you'll want to keep turning the pages on this one.
Rating: Summary: Great topic, but characters rather cliched and wooden Review: Are Rayford Steele and Wilson Lindberg (in The Triumph and Glory) the same guy ? The similarities are eerie, they're both rather corny and predictable but you like them anyway, or maybe it's because they are obviously the good guys, or maybe it's just because they're both pilots who find themselves in a heap of trouble. Anyway, I tried real hard to like Left Behind because I appreciate wholesome books with strongly positive role models, they are all too few and far between these days, yet despite an admiration for Steele (based upon intangible and hard to explain reasons (see above)I found Left Behind rather hard to admire (except for plucky Rayford). The book was agenda-driven, and seemed awfully contrived much of the time, the characters didn't seem to have wills of their own, they were puppets dancing to the tune of the lock-step plot. But I see that a lot of people really liked it! That's fine, we all have our own taste. Three stars is the best I can do for this one, folks.
Rating: Summary: intriguing, thought provoking, it will change your life Review: I thought that their account of the last days with scriptural references was inspiring. I couldn't wait to read the second volume. If you are interested in saving your soul, this is a good place to start.
Rating: Summary: It's inspiring!!! Great reading Review: Left Behind is one of the most amazing books I've read. True, it is fiction, but it is not shallow or lacking plot, or character development for that reason. If you don't find these books interesting and exciting, I'd like to find out what you consider good reading. The rest of the series continues to be great as well. I've read the "classics" (fiction & non-fiction) but this is different. It's interesting, enticing, and paints a picture of difficult Bible prophecy in a realistic way.
